You're right, but I guess I'm too cautious with my atty's to do that all the time. I tend to try to use them as long as possible in case they get hard to find or something. I suppose I could just use new ones and keep the used ones for hard times. :)

I know what you mean but you have to admit that that is a good vape. Maybe one day we will be able to enjoy that moment more often. Imagine being able to use an atomizer until it's performance drops and then throw it away and install a new one. This is the intent when these e-cigs were designed. I don't think they were supposed to be used as long as we are trying to make them last.

My main problem is that the atty's usually degrade so gradually that I don't realize what's going on.

I was thinking someone said the primer is actually just nic juice. (just maybe old and been on metal too long)

There you go. Exactly what I was talking about. If it's been a while since you have changed your atty you may not know what you are missing!

I usually flush new attys with everclear before I use them and prime them with a couple of drops of VG. It's thick and seems to prime very well.

Actually everclear makes a good primer. Put a couple of drops of everclear then chase it with a couple of drops of nic juice. Slip on a full cart and turn on the fog machine, I mean PV.

I didn't say more last night for fear of jinxing myself, but I had a feeling I'd be changing to a new atty soon. I just got the nonresistored switch for the Prodigy and knew it was only a matter of time before I blew an atty at 6 V. I don't really understand it, though, because I don't take long hits, etc. Anyway, it happened and the new atty is bliss. :) I guess now I need to decide if it's even worth the trouble of trying the 18650s or not, since I'll most likely want to stick with higher voltage. I just know lower voltage would have to be better on the atty's. On a scale of 1-10, where would you rate a good standard 510 battery at full charge, a Prodigy at ~3.7, a Prodigy at ~5, and a Prodigy at ~6? Maybe a rating will help me decide whether or not to get yet another set of batteries.

I've been there and done that! I think I have discovered that the higher voltages will find a weakness in an atty sooner than 3.7 will. I believe that an atty that is developing a resistance issue will go blow up at higher voltages quicker than it wouild have at 3.7. I can't prove that but it is likely true. I blamed my prodigy for blowing up attys when I first got mine about 6 or 7 weeks ago. But that turned out to not be the case at all. Since that time I have only lost 1 atty. In fact I have resurected 3 attys that were not hardly putting out anything at 3.7 that came alive at 5.0 volts.

As far as rating the different voltages. In my opinion the stock 510 battery I will give a 6, the protege I would give an 8, and the prodigy at 5 volts I give a 10. I don't like any of my current juices at 6 volts.

The more I use the protege the more I like it. It is much better using the 14500 than the stock 510 batteries.

The prodigy using the 18650s is a completely different animal. This is the marathon winner at 3.7 volts. The performance is just like the protege except it just goes on and on and on. I have 4 18650s and they would last for more than a week.

I hope that I answered your question.

I hugely prefer 5V so I'm prejudiced, but I'd say, based on often trying a lady friend's Protege (910) that there's not enough difference to matter between that and a commercial ecig at same voltage if the commercial is freshly charged. The main difference is the Protege lasts a lot longer at the good vape level (a lot longer lol.)

Should of tried the 510 on the protege nothing beats it but the 18650 batterries on the prodigy with the 510's. I love it because of the long battery life and I like using the protege when I'm in public because it's alot smaller

I ordered mine about week and a half ago. I hope I get a "shipping" on my status today. I am very excited about the Protege. I have been using my 810 stainless steel for 7 months now and I think it would be time to try out this mod. I hope it lives up to all the hype. I have been VERY pleased with my 810. Best of all, NO analogs since I started vaping and I feel GREAT!!!

This is the exact same way I use my Prodigy and Protege TP :)

18650 batts on the Prodigy with a 510 = love :)
