First of all I am so glad to find this site, it is helping me stop smoking cigs after 40 years. I bought a 510 kit for myself and a KR8 kit for my wife.

I do like the 510 and have bought a PCC, USB passthrough (use 90% of the time), small variety of juices, extra atty, empty carts and a extra life battery. I drip in the carts and atty often and I don't think I have ever smoked one dry. It seems that after a short while the taste and vapor drop off so I just top them off again. I also started to experiment with the Petco filter mods and can see that refilling is going to be my preferred method. I have had no atty problems yet and haven't cleaned it yet. BTW, the passthrough seems to have more kick, is it a higher voltage?

I read a lot on these forums and it seems many like the 801 atty better than the 510 anyone have an opinion on this?

Now to the KR8; it seems to have less vapor and throat hit and a little slower to draw on. My wife has already gone through the prefilled cartomizers and I have tried to refill a few but have had problems. BTW, I watched the video on how to refill cartomizers but I just can't seem to get any liquid in them and what I do runs out through the hole in the mouthpiece and that doesn't taste good.

Overall I think I am going to stay with the 510 for both my wife and I because I would rather refill than keep buying cartomizers. I would like to get a syringe which may make it easier to refill the cartomizers but tried both Wahlgreens and CVS with no luck. I guess I will just have to buy them online.

Sorry for the long post but these are my thoughts after about 1 1/2 weeks. Now I only have 3 or 4 analogs a day and it seems I only have them because it is hard to shake the ritual of certain events during the day. I know that with the help from this site I will quit smoking cigarettes now.

To answer your question about higher voltage on the PT, I have checked both a fully charged 510 batt at 4.02 volts and the PT at 4.12 volts so I didn't find much difference there, but I also noticed a consistently good vape (better) using the PT over the regular batteries.

As far as the 801 atty being better on the 510 I have no experience with this so I can't help you there.

I started out with a KR808D-1 my first week and had good success refilling them using the same instruction video you probably did, but it is not a perfect science and found that after a few refillings of the cartomizers of the KR they didn't work as well as new and performance does deteriorate in time.

My second week I got my Joye 510 and have been in vaping heaven ever since. I've done several different cart mods still looking for that perfect hit and the best I've tried yet has been the ZFM (Zero Filler Mod), which you can find all kinds of posts about. I was one of the lucky ones who quit analogs immediately upon taking my very first vape and that was 2 months ago. I do make my own e-juice but found that the PG irritates my throat too much so I always use as much VG as I can and it vapes really well.

I'm glad to hear that you've reduced your analog intake and once you've trained your brain to accept vaping and start getting that perfect "hit" with your PV, you'll quit for good before long. It also sounds like you've done a lot of reading here on the forums already and it never hurts to read, read and read some more as it seems I learn something new each and every day here at ECF.

Congrats on your success so far and as you already know, there are hundreds of great people here to provide all the help and support you need.

I started with a 510 and loved it...I think the thing with the PT is that it stays at peak voltage instead of having a drop off on the batteries so the vapor production remains consistently better..
After seeing all the hype here about the KR8 and a certain company on here I wanted to give it a try..needless to say I have not been at all impressed..the only thing I find the KR8 good for is geting an adapter for it to run my 510 attys on which give me some better battery life..

Hey Libertysf,

For the past two weeks I have been using the kr808d cartomizers which I have started to love. I did have a 510 and got tired of constantly topping off the carts. The cartomizers are much more convienent for me. As far as refilling them, I have found the best way to do it is to removed the white plastic part at the bottom and drip your liquid along the side of the cartomizer onto the batting. I only add about 4-6 drops in at a time or else I will also get juice spilling over or get a mouthful of it. The one bad thing about them is that they can be hit or miss when it comes to performance, I have had a few that only lasted about two days, but I also have a few that have lasted me for about a week and a half so far.

As for the 801 attys, that is one of my current favorites to use. If you give them a little time to break in they will give you great flavor, throat hit, and a decent amount of vapor.

The main thing that I have found is that you really need to try out several different types to see which one suits you best and don't give up and go back to using analogs 100% of the time.

Thanks for all your replies.

Shortstuff116, I am reluctant to try that ZFM because of the leaking issues noted in that long thread. How did you do it?

Drozd, I got the adapter so I can use the KR8 batteries on my 510 attys, works great and I like the auto now and then.

Bryan H, I just can't seem to refill the cartomizer without getting some liquid in my mouth. I take out the white cap and the silicon ring, clean and dry them and only put a few drops in but still get the liquid coming through.

Taryn, thanks I will give it a look. I would like to use cartomizers but don't like buying new ones all the time. BTW, where is a good place to get cartomizers with lots of flavor choices?

If you want the cheapest then www.vaporkings.com is where it's at... $7.43 for a pack with 10% off code VKBC. They got about 20 flavors and all the fruity stuff, cheap shipping too. I don't think it's worth spending like 10 bux on a pack, you're better off finding juice you really like then filling blanks to use whenever. You can save a lot of money that way, It's really not difficult to fill them it just takes a bit of learning to get used to it and suss it out, and once you do then you can fill a cart in under a minute a piece of cake.

I would like to fill the cartomizers but considering my lack of success so far, I am hesitant. I like buying juice in bottles better than in the carts. I was looking for a syringe that I thought might work better in filling them than dripping down the side of the cart.

Syringes do work good, just make sure you keep the little plug and rubber cap on the end when you're filling from the mouthpiece end. Don't lose faith in it, once you get the hang of it you'll be able to fill them quickly and easily.

As far as my ZFM's, what I do is put my silicone cap on my cart firmly, then using a wooden shim (the kind I use to shim doors and windows with) I carefully start tapping the cap with the heavier end of my shim for about a minute or two. This has to be done with just enough force to enable the plastic edge of the cart to "cut" through the cap. Too hard and it will deform the plastic edge and too easy and it will not cut.

Eventually it will cut completely through the cap and what I end up with is a perfectly formed piece of silicone that fits perfectly inside the cart. Then I place my silicone "plug" on the shim and use an exacto knife to cut an elongated "X" in it.

Now I cut a piece of plastic straw just long enough so that when it sits inside the cart and I place the cap inside on top of it, there is about a 1/32" distance between the edge of the cart and the newly cut cap. I've had zero leakage so far so perhaps I've gotten it just right for me.
