I Usually rotate 3 juices (bobas bounty, unicorn blood, TriBeCa) but lately I can only taste the TriBeCa... On the inhale especially bobas bounty tastes like something weird and flavorless I can't really describe it but its very unpleasant. I can kind of taste it on the way out though but it's still nowhere near what it should be. Unicorn blood is pretty much the same. I thought maybe I had what some people refer to as vapers tongue but I can still taste my TriBeCa. I also happened to be vaping them all on some new boges I got recently. I don't have any extra cartos at the moment to check. Anyone been through this? Is there something wrong with me or my cartos?

Survey says vaper's tongue, BUT, I abandoned Boge cartos in favor of horizontal-coil cartos for just that reason.

Do you have anything other than a Boge carto to try? I keep an atty around for that reason. I don't like to drip all that much, but in situations where I'm questioning my hardware it's nice to have one around to give me a straight answer, so to speak.

EDIT: read the original post re: no other cartos. Get hydrated and eat your pickle!

Cartomizers are disposable. I get some pretty good mileage out of mine. I usually get 10ml out of them before I boil them out (unless I'm using them for a tank system) or have to throw them away. It depends on the juice. Some of the lighter juices I like I can get more mileage out of the carto--one of the very dark coffee vapes I like though will kill a carto after 5ml.

I would say to try to rule out the bad carto possibility by using a fresh carto and seeing if that solves the problem. If it doesn't it could be several other factors.

The first of which is vaper's tongue. The cure to that is time, and hydration. That said you can lessen the unpleasantness of vaper's tongue by a few tricks I've used successfully.

1. Using a baking soda and water mouth rinse. I use 1 teaspoon of baking soda to 4 fl. oz. of tap water. Just like if you were going to use the same thing for an antacid. Except here you garggle with it, and use it like you would a mouth wash. Others have recomended biotene (but I have never used so I'm not exactly recommending it--just saying it is an option I heard has worked for some people here).

2. Switch up your tooth paste. I found that changing tooth pastes helped me. I don't know if it is something that would work for everyone, but it helped me.

3. Drink lots of water. The amount is different for everyone but I found that in order to not get vaper's tongue I need to regularly drink at least 2 liters of water a day, though I often drink 3-5 liters a day. If you don't like the taste of water you can use a crystal light type flavoring. I found that lemonade and fruit punch ones were acidic enough to cut through some of the PG and/or VG that may be coating your tongue. Myself I actually use a strawberry energy from crystal light in my afternoon liter, but I've massively cut down on my coffee drinking for some reason since I switched.

4. Up your oral hygiene regimen. While having a particularly bad case of VT, I had to brush my teeth four times a day. I actually brought my brush and paste with me to work!

Finally while this is not necessarily VT related, I would suggest finding several new vapes you like a lot too. For some reason if I vape the same juice a lot I get to where I can't really taste it--like it is nothing but background noise or something--without having device problems or vaper's tongue.

I find that variety keeps my tongue happy.

ETA: Also it could be smoking cessation related. It took me about a week from quitting smoking to lose all sense of taste, and a month for it to come back. Also, I don't know if this is true for everyone, but if I'm having sinus problems like say I have a cold or my allergies are being particularly bad (seasonal allergies) I can't taste my juice or well anything else either. I'm no doctor but I think that the sense of taste is linked to the sense of smell.

True for everyone. When I was in elementary school kids would discover that if they plugged their nose they couldn't taste soap. Very helpful if your mom washes your mouth with the stuff :)

This, if you just made the switch. It takes a month for your tastebuds to be "shed" and replaced. And they're trying to overcome being scorched by cigarettes for so long. Once the process is over you'll be astonished at how much keener your sense of smell and taste have become.

Also to me, using hydrogen peroxide as a mouthwash tends to deaden my tastebuds. I have to do it to help keep a cavity on my way back molar clean (I can't get it fixed because of TMJ, can't open my mouth wide enough) but i follow up with Listerine to wake my tongue back up.

This may also be an opportunity to vape up any bottles of juice you have laying around that you didn't like so much... use it while you can't taste it. Or you can try a menthol juice until your mouth recovers, so you can have sensation even if you're not tasting much.

vapers tongue is where you loose your sense of taste. Usually caused by quitting smoking, vaping flavors that are too similar or sometimes, no reason at all.

for the chest pains, you could try something with an easier draw.. more airy so you are not having to suck in too hard. Try lowering your Nic level and see if that helps. And strangely enough, stop slouching so much! You could be sitting so that you are crowding your lungs causing the sharp pain when you breath in deeply. Stretching your torso should help.

Thanks for all the responses. I tried some of your advice and this morning I am back to normal :) one more thing though, lately throat hit is beginning to become too harsh for me. My 5-6 second drags have become 1-2 because ill just end up coughing a lot. And my right lung is getting sharp pains. Any thoughts?

I would strongly advise anyone not to seek medical advice from an ecig forum. you should seek medical advice from a medical practitioner.
