Hi,

I quit analogs in 2012, "relapsed" in 2015, and just quit again in 2018.

I'm trying to help my mom quit now. She likes the pod systems but the only flavor she cares for is cinnamon and I don't know which (if any) pod systems have acid proof pods. So, I'm on a search for polypropylene vs polycarbonate.

Happy to be here.

Hi Peyton,
Don't expect equipment to last forever, it won't. My first mod's fire button just died after 8 months.
How long would you expect a pod to last? I mean, if 'acid' is eating your pod away, & it only lasts like a month, then you have bigger problems lol..
If the 'acid' is destroying the pod, slowly over 6-12 months, I would just consider that a consumable & replace it. Always have spare parts, always have 3 of everything. The last thing you want is to have your device break, have nothing to vape with, & then run out & buy a pack of smokes.

Hi Hashy, Thanks, I thought that acidic juices immediately started to corrode the plastic from the first use, and weren't safe from the beginning? I remember back in the day they'd sell some juices with the warning "not stardust safe" for the plastic cartomizers. But, I'm really out of the loop and not up to date on theses things.

Calling @Baditude to help you,i'm sure he's aware of that.
I'm not sure I can be of much help in this case.

It's true that cinnamon and many citrus flavors can chemically decompose polycarbonate plastic. That's why I wrote this blog several years ago:

Something Safe for Cinnamon & Citrus Flavors (2013)
  • There are some flavors which can destroy plastic tanks. Discover which flavors are known to cause this, watch a video of a tank melting using one of these flavors, and see a picture dictionary of safe products to use if you enjoy using these flavors.
My info on pod systems is extremely limited. I'm not sure if any of them use glass, pyrex, or polypropylene (frosted) plastic juice reservoirs...probably none do. Your mother may need to change to a vape setup which uses the above materials which could safely handle the "tank cracker" flavors like cinnamon.

I would suggest the Innokin Kroma-A starter kit which uses the Zenith tank or the Innokin JEM.

That Jem is kind of cute.
Innokin JEM/Goby (internal battery starter kit ~ $25. Sort of a glorified eGo battery in a different form factor and a few extra features. 5 variable wattage settings (10 - 13.5 watts). Rudimentary battery life indicator. Lightweight and easy to carry in a pocket or purse. May need two of these to be able to vape all day as it is only a 1000mah battery; we all need a backup setup anyway.

Cinnamon is my specialty. . Cause its my favorite flavor. :)

Most pods should be fine with cinnamon though. I used to vape cinnamon roll and Apple pie flavors in the ce4, and while that would decrease the lifespan, it never outright melted any of those tanks, and I'm sure modern pods are made from at least as sturdy a material as those.

@PeytonMontana - I don't know of any pod systems that have cartridges that aren't some type of plastic. So using Cinnamon flavored eliquids might be "iffy" in any of them, IMO.

So, having her use a set-up with a glass tank would, IMO, be the best option. It seems she wants something small (lightweight, easy to hold, fits in a purse easily with a lots of room to spare), and she's just a beginner with vaping. So, I've got a recommendation for you to consider. I help local people get started with vaping, and many have chosen and liked the following set-up from the get-go, especially the women. I also keep and use several myself for quick trips to town and other times when I want something much smaller than my larger mod and tank set-ups to use. I'm an older lady vaper, who's likely near your mother's age. Though I have a huge variety of other mods, tanks, RTAs, etc...I still love these, too.

The set-up is tube shaped, only 13mm diameter, and including the drip tip on it...the whole thing is < 5" long. The small tank is glass and metal and is a top-fill...which is another plus for a beginning vaper. The coil it takes is very easy to replace and still readily available. (Each kit comes with 1 coil, and MFS carries the replacements, but they're quite a bit less expensive elsewhere.) The battery is only 650mAh, but even that is much more than most pod systems are! At the current sale price at the following vendor...getting 2 kits would still be under $25 including S/H, and would give her a back-up to be using while the battery on the other is charging.

If/when you see that she wants to keep vaping and is comfortable with the basics of changing a coil, charging a battery, refilling a tank, etc...then I'd consider upgrading to a more expensive, higher powered, possibly VV or VW set-up. She could always keep and use the little Top Evod Kits as emergency, or quick trip to town, reliable little back-ups.

Kanger Top Evod Starter Kit - Use coupon code MFS10 at Checkout, too, for an additional 10% off.

If you end up getting this, and she likes it, message me...and I'll let you know several places to get the coils for around $5-6/box at the most.
