Hi Guys,

Just thought I'd ask whether anyone else has had an issue with any acne (particularly cystic acne) since they started vaping? I notice that if I dont use my ecig AT ALL for a day or so, my skin starts to become less red and clear up. vaping also makes my skin kinda burn & feel greasy? Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this and/or advice.

Thanks

No, this is a new one on me. If I had cystic acne and was of the opinion that vaping exacerbated it then I would cease to vape.

Welcome to the friendly bunch :)

Loads of help here when you need it :) But the first thing to say is that I hope you are not vaping for the sake of it....if so then try and stop. If you're genuinely trying to give up a tobacco habit then maybe try cutting out the PG in your juice as in almost all allergic reactions due to vaping it's the PG that is the culprit...

As @Eskie says your doctor should be able to give you a cream to help control the acne....so please go and get yourself an appointment......Good luck.

See a doctor. Also, quitting smoking can lead to a new glare up, as can inhalation of an aredol antibiotic agent, such as PG.
Chances are, there is no causation, just correlation, and it will calm down on its own, as the culture of your skin/microbiome adjusts to a new balance.

Again, go see a doctor.

safe distance from a black hole
I have a problem with PG. Greasy skin and stings to the touch if I use PG. It clears up quite fast if I stop using PG.
It is a process of elimination to find out if its anything you are vaping that is causing the reaction.
I vape VG, nic and distilled water. Im fine with it but if you are only in it for the flavours the option Ive gone with is a pretty bleak prospect.

How old are you and why are you vaping? Cystic acne is best treated by your doctor/dermatologist to control it and reduce the risk of scarring. If vaping is an activity and not to stop smoking, you really shouldn't be messing around with it in the first place.
I'm 22 & used it to stop smoking. Just because I have acne, doesn't automatically mean I'm a 16 year old.

I'm 39, and have been suffering cystic acne for 8 years or so now. Lyme disease and the cure for it can do some nasty things. If you get better with in a day or so of not vaping, the answer seems obvious.

If you must continue, then isolating the cause is a must. Could be one or more of the metals used in your coil, but more than likely, its the PG. Reducing or eliminating the source to a point it doesn't cause symptoms, or living with them, are the only options.

I vape and I still smoke, sometimes I quit smoking entirely for a few weeks, and I get greasy skin and pimples the more I vape, the link between the two is very obvious, it gets better whenever I smoke more and vape less. I'm over 40 btw.
I was wondering if it was something as simple as not blowing the vapor away with enough "force", so that it stays in the vicinity of my head and greases my skin with oily vapor...? I will try and make it a habit to blow the vapor further away, see if it makes a difference...

I'm glad (but also sorry) that someone else has noticed a connection between the two. Honestly, I feel as though it may be more internal & it would therefore blowing it away more wouldn't help. However, if you want to give it a go, please update me as to how you get on. Thanks!

Thank you! I'm going to try and quit completely but if I dont manage to, I'll try altering the PG:VG ratio.

I would mess around with ratios honestly. It might be a really simple issue.

You could try snus. It's good harm reduction and I can guarantee it will not give you zits. (I think.) It's cheaper than other quitting products and some folks do well on it.

You can get Swedish snus (which is what you want) at many gas stations. It is confusingly labeled "American General Snus." I use it at work. It is infinitely better than nicotine gum for instance.

I also would see your doctor, I would go if it were me. Cystic acne can be treated like anything else. I hope you find success vaping.

I think snus is banned in the UK? Am I looking at the wrong thing?

Hi, no you're not looking at the wrong thing - it is banned in the UK due to studies in Sweden linking it to oral cancer (according to the metro anyway!)

What is snus, what are the effects and where can you buy it? | Metro News

Welcome by the way. I had really bad acne as a teen, so I know how rubbish it is. For what it's worth I found that drinking tons of water (like all day) always helped with my skin and still does
