I would have thought this topic would have been discussed previously, but I only saw on post that got closed before it was responded to.

When I was smoking, I usually caught two colds a winter, early and late. Then I'd be hacking for weeks after the cold was long gone, go figure. I felt a cold coming on Wed night and was pretty miserable when I got up Thursday. So miserable that I spent a lot of the day sleeping. However, when I was awake, I was vaping more than normal. When I got up Friday, I was still feeling the effects but had things I had to take care of so I out I went again vaping a lot. After I got home in the late afternoon, I took a couple hour nap.

Today, I still am a bit stuffy and do have moments of coughing, but I'm feeling pretty good, heads cleared and feel I'm almost completely past it. If recent history repeats itself, by early next week I'll be back to normal.

My question is have others seemed to vape more when catching colds and are they clearing up faster than what you experienced in the past. I'm wondering if the PG might help battle the germs.

Yes, vaping definitely has helped me to either totally avoid a cold or shorten it. I make sure to exhale the vapor out the nose as that's where they say the virus multiples.

Never thought of that Kathy, I'll keep it in mind. I'm almost back to normal and was confident enough by Sunday to visit my mom in assisted living and not fear passing along my germs to the residence. I had my mom particularly in mind since she's just recovering from pneumonia.

I can honestly say I haven't had a full blown cold since I started vaping. There have been a couple of occasions over the years when the rest of the family was hacking, blowing their nose and feeling miserable, all I got was a mild case of the sniffles and feeling punky for 24 - 48 hours. Gone as well is my yearly bout of bronchitis. My last bout of that was the winter before I started the e-cig.

I've had a few colds since I've started vaping. Last month I caught the flu. People all around me were sick and going to the hospital. Normally that type of thing would've kicked my ...., and turned into pneumonia. Not this time. I went and picked up a bottle of 50/50 minty menthol, and normally do 100% VG. Not saying the PG cured me or anything, but I kicked it rather fast. PG for the most part doesn't agree with me. When I am sick it seems to make vaping not so bad. Or maybe I am just being weird ;)

I don't think you're being weird at all. I've started making a habit of vaping more when I feel a cold coming on vand it seems to help. I usually use 80/20 or 70/30. Tonight, feeling "normal" I may have had a dozen puffs and much less than that during the day.

Quite a good idea, if i must say so myself. Thanks for the advice. Have had a cold recently and have went through 20 tissues already in the past couople days, so yeah, very good idea.

 After I read the post about exhaling through your nose when you feel a cold coming on, I wanted to experiment with that technique. I never did that when I smoked so I never thought of it when vaping. Now I've been getting used to it so I remember to do so the next time I start feeling those pre-cold symptoms.

Yeah definately a good way to be a preventative and safe-type of person.

Used to have a solid 2 week cold cycle while smoking. I never backed off the pack-a-day. I've had two colds while vaping, also not backing down from at least 4 to 6 mL/day, and the turn around has been 3 to 5 days. I actually decided to quit smoking/start vaping right when I was getting my first winter cold and immediately noticed how quickly I got over it. That right there was enough to sell me on switching habits. Plus, I smell better. Both meanings of smell. :)

I have found for me that a good STRONG menthol vape like Frozen Tundra from Strixx Elixers is the best medicine for a head cold...a citrus like Mystic Mandalime from Alice in Vapeland will shorten a headache...and a sweet coffee vape like Coffee Cream from Nude Nicotine is very soothing for a sore throat. I have not come down with the usual winter bronchitis/chest cold that was the norm 2 times every winter this year. I started vapeing last july

the only problem i have is that i never had allergies when smoking. now we are in bloom season here in AZ due to not having any kind of winter at all and my nose is running like a faucet! my local B&M make all their excellent juice at a 50/50 blend, so when i went in yesterday to get another bottle of the best RY4, and asked if they could start making some 70/30 for me. seems they get their base out of CA and then do the rest of the mixing in house so they know what goes in the bottle.

just wish i had stock in kleenex!!!!!! i'd be rich!!!

I've been vaping for some 2 years, but not exclusively. Sometimes I would get an analog from someone (e.g. after heavy meal, over drinks, etc) once a week, and sometimes I would go up to 1PAD (previously 2PAD+).

The thing I noticed is: when I smoke less/no analogs, there is almost no chance to catch a cold. Living in continental climate, with relatively cold winter and very strong wind, I came up with a theory... People usually go outside to smoke, just throwing a jacket over their shoulders, which may be a reason. Also, people smoking inside open their windows more often, and are exposed to cold air/draft.

I've been totally analog-free last 2 weeks and weather is getting better. Now, I tend to under-dress in early spring (I see the sun shining and assume it's warm enough for spring jacket), so I am due - but it doesn't happen. This is, of course, contrary to my previous theory, but I'm throwing the options here.

I'm waiting for my sinuses to get stuffy (not that I *want* to have this happen, of course) in order to try some strong menthol e-liquid and see if it helps open it up some.

It definitely helps. I'm not really a fan of menthol vapes, but last time i got sick, I vaped menthol and it DEFINITELY helped... its kind of amazing!
