Cigarbabe: Never had a bottom feeder mod or ever worked with one, but that might be a good idea to avoid small "filling" issues. Does the bottle screw into threads on the mod or insert in some way? Easy question and I guess I should know, but I still use old equipment.

NEWQ: could you say what state you friend lives? Maybe there would be a "brick & mortar" nearby where he could try different styles? Sometimes working directly with something is the best method to meet individual needs.

I apologize but i was not the original OP Nikinic was the one with a friend in need. SOrry for the confusion.

Hi again all. I want to thank everyone for their input and especially nikinic for inviting me here. I have kept busy doing my research, reading and checking out some videos. After some thought I think I will try a Stardust to start off with. From what I have seen I think I should have little trouble using, filling or cleaning it.

Things are a little tight right now so I shan't be running out and snatching one up soon but I will keep you posted when I do. If anyone know where I can pick one up in a starter kit, it would be much appreciated (still lots here I have not seen yet).

I am glad to be here and look forward to learning more.

The Star Dust has a screw top that may present a small challenge. I'm sure you can work around it.

Rather than fiddle with batteries I use an 1100 mah eGo type pass-through battery that charges with a USB cable that plugs into my computer and the beauty of it is I can still vape while it is charging. The battery is powerful enough to last more than a day and can be charged at the computer, with a wall adapter, or a car adapter, and I never have to take the battery out or stop vaping while it charges.

I recommend the low resistance Star Dust because it matches the voltage (3.7 volts average) of these non-Joye batteries. I believe Joye regulates the voltage on theirs to 3.2 volts, I may be wrong. I only know what I have and use. I'm sure if you can fill the Star Dust (or have several filled) you can handle them. They are the only absolute leak proof (when the stem is screwed in) clearomizer that I know of.

That's my experience. And welcome to ECF, another wonderful fellowship!

Edit : forgot to mention; 1100 mah pass-through battery approx 20 bucks, Star Dust approx 5 bucks.

Also,some apparatus to help him with refilling and such (easy one-nad operation grip to hold whatever he is manipulating,be it a juice bottle or an atty or the PV itself); some kind of jeweler`s vise with rubber grips perhaps,some thing that can be installed on the edge of the table via suction cup or easy 1 movement lever;

Then he would have it easy to refill or screw anything.

I found this listing in my on-line window shopping, however I know nothing about it. I have never used a "bottom feeder" system.

Can someone enlighten us?

Boge Revolution V2.1 $38.95
A very solid vendor as well.
What caught my attention was 10ml bottle for a reservoir and you do not have to take the batteries out to charge. Sounds very low maintenance, as in, 10ml liquid at a time and you can vape while it charges, never change batteries.

I'm loving this thread.

If you don't look at them already, don't forget the YouTube reviewers. You can see a lot of devices and how they work really fast as well as get an idea of size/fiddly bits/durability/ease of use.

You never know what devices might jump out as possible options. This forum has some great information about them too (though not always pics).

I've seen ads for these & they look like a great little PV - until the battery's final gasp and then they're toast. While not having to take the battery out to charge might be a plus, *not being able to replace them* is a deal-breaker for me. Sort of like a Bic lighter as opposed to a Zippo, and there's nothing wrong with that - as long as it's priced accordingly. In this case, IMO it isn't. (Make it fifteen bucks & I'll try one :) )

Happy Vaping! :vapor:

I wasn't thinking about you Warren, I was thinking about ease of use with one good hand. Sometimes it's worth an extra $23.95 to gain some independence.

I am thinking that would be a great one. Thanks X for making the suggestion. I will be sure to tell me him there are some new suggestions on here. I have been thinking about trying a bottom feeder myself, but have not really started looking into them. For me it is just about having more toys lol.

Good point, and please forgive me if my post seemed insensitive. The Boge might be a good option here, I don't know. I've never had a box mod or bottom-feed device so can't base this on any experience at all, but it's hard for me to imagine designing one in which removing/replacing the battery with one hand would need to be difficult. OTOH *not* having to get the batteries into and out of a charger once or twice a day might make a world of difference, and could place the Boge among the best possible choices for this vaper's first PV. :)

I have a friend who has this and she really likes it. the only thing that might be a problem is when you have to refill the bottle, I think sometimes the bottle in the bottom feeders might take a little fiddleing to get it back in. also, I would think of the boge revolution as a disposable, although my friend has had hers a while. here is a thread on them:

All of the cartos and atomizers, clearomizers etc I have ever seen have a screw in situation going on. My best advice would be to get a 5v box mod which you can build for him from the parts they sell at Welcome to MadVapes LLC on the left hand column there is a whole section of parts you can buy to do it for pretty cheap.

The reason I suggest this is because, due to the flat nature of the box, anyone could easily wedge that between their legs and use one hand to screw in or out any of the commercially available atomizers on the market. Plus it's 5 volts so it should be a nice powerful vape. On top of that, I would throw a Vision Vivi Nova or even an Apollo tank because with one hand you're not going to want to fill it all the time so more is better. The Vivi Nova has replaceable atomizer heads too so if he can't rebuild the wick and coil atomizer he could always throw money at it and buy new ones.
