Vaping and Mormons.

AWESOME! I wish I had thought of that years ago...I grew up mormon. Let's just say I will NEVER step on LDS property EVER again!

I'm not saying the religion is bad...there are some very good beliefs, but then there are some wierd ones and some bad ones as well. And if anybody here happens to be mormon...just remember something, I can say whatever I want because I've been there done that. Kinda like I can make fat jokes because I'm a fatty...LOL
I was never a ....., but I have lost 100 pounds. Of course, I also lost 300 pounds of useless fat a number of years ago..I got a divorce.

I thought it was the Jehovah Witnesses who do not allow blood transfusions... I'm confused now and I research belief systems.

Yes it is. They cannot drink alcohol, smoke anything, or use any addictive substance. furthermore, they also must decline blood transfusions even if it means saving their own child. Court cases are pending on that very matter. So I would have a hard time with a mormon who is lighting up a cig as they try to get into my house and sell me their pamphlets. But then again, par for the course. Talking outta one side of their mouth, smokin a cig outta the other.
My best,
-VP

Okay..It has to be said.
Did you hear about the singing group made up of mentally challenged kids?
They trained them with rewards of candy and soda, but the sugar got them too wound up, so they switched them to diet soda and fruit.
You still say you've never heard of them?
Sure you have.
The ..... Tab and Apple Choir.

I am truly sorry for that, but I couldn't help myself.

Vapor Pete is correct. Mormons are not allowed anything addictive, even caffeine. No kidding.

I do service work at a plant that prints Bibles in salt Lake City. They didn't mind me going out back for an analog, but when I asked where the coffee machine was, they laughed. Caffeine is banned on plant property. I had to drive a block away to a Burger King, and drink my coffee there before returning to the plant.

I work with lots of the LDS faith, they're alright, used to even be allowed to smoke on the stages at BYU Movie studio a few years ago. One day a young man comes out to the back of the grip truck and runs a band of yellow caution tape in a 10x10 square around us and tells us this is the 'new' designated smoking area for the studio. Jim, trust me when I say you do NOT want to drink coffee made by a mormon, you can either use it to tar a road or mistake it for weak tea. Jack mormons are some of the biggest boozer/smokers I know in the state of utah.

and as far as the blood transfusions-don't think so, considering the LDS hospital is a world class facility and they perform blood transfusions all the time as well as sponsoring blood drives, whoever told anyone that is wrong. They get there caffiene from mountain dew, lots and lots of mountain dew.
I can't believe I'm defending mormons, but to compare them to jehovah witness's, guess you've gotta live among them to know that's not true. As far as vaping, the few I've been around while I vaped thought it was GREAT that I was trying to get off the smokes and didn't mind one bit.

Just a little hint here but does anyone realize the president of the ECA is also Mormon? It would be interesting if Matt Salmon came here and expressed what he thinks about Nicotine and E Cigs. I think it is a fair question.

scroll down for ECA and look at the next line after it.

I have a couple of friends that are Mormon but they never want to see me smoke or vape near them. Understandable and I respect their rights.

I moderated and owned a Womens discussion board for years, we had quite a few L.D.S. (Mormon) ladies on that board. They were very kind and helpful to all. They taught me how to stock a pantry for a good long while and gave me many DIY tips.I found a lot of my great, great, great grandparents with their help. I can honestly say they never got in my face about drinking or smoking. But they did mention caffine free cherry coke a lot!:) I happen to be lapsed Catholic, so I don't agree with their faith, but I will always defend their right to practice it.
If the Grid ever goes down, you better hope your neighbor is Amish, Mennonite or L.D.S. They have made an artform of making do or doing without.
Those ladies would have been my support system for using a P.V. to avoid cigarettes and probably would have made me 40/11 flavor recipes to keep me going. (zero nic of course).

While I agree that they are taught to have food/water storage...I don't believe that they would necessarily be able to do without. Just because they store it all up doesn't mean they would actually do well! My stepmother (well, she adopted me...but...yeah...long story) is one of those wierd people that would probably have a panic attack of the electricity was out for an hour, much less a week! She wouldn't survive long.

Oh, but the real reason I am commenting, I love the Tab and Apple choir joke! ROFLMAO

Unfortunately MaryKay, the LDS familes out here are not quite so generous.

This happened to me a few years back.

When I first moved into my current residence, the neighbors next door were very standoffish but when they found out I was pregnant at that time they were all over me. I would tutor their daughter, and even went as far as taught their teen son how to dance. Calin and I would constantly feed their kids, and take care of them.

Well. One day I was doing laundry, and because my unit doesnt have washer dryer hookups I had to use the coin facilities. But stupid me I ran out of quarters. I took 2 dollars over to my neighbors and asked if she had 8 quarters. Explaining that I ran out of quarters hahahaha.
She said that she didnt have any quarters at all. Oh well.
So I saw another neighbor had JUST got home. When he got out of his truck I asked him the same thing. He said "Oh Sure!" and went to his truck and brought me 8 quarters. I gave him the 2 dollars in return even though he tried to refuse.

Her response.

OH! You actually had money?

:grr:

I couldnt believe it, after all I had done for this family, not only were they being stingy, but they thought that I wanted a handout.

That is just ONE of the many stories I have about this particular family too. The Mormons out here in Utah are a breed all of their own that is for sure haha!

While I agree that not every L.D.S. is a wonderful human being, I also know that not every Catholic Protestant, cop, lawyer, social worker, garbage worker ect. is wonderful. I guess I was lucky to know some that were and to have met a few in person.

I also agree that not every person who stocks up and maintains a good panrty would be able to live off grid, but it's a step in the right direction. I live in Florida, Fema says to have 3 days backup in case of emergency. LOL Please! Thank goodness I had a month's worth! We had a camp shower, I cooked on a fire pit and we made lots of meals that didn't require refridgerated food. We also got a generator after the second storm! By the way, don't stock spram, even the dog refused to eat it!

Just saying that any group people can have bad apples, as any group of can get very cliquish when they get together and shut anyone not of thier brand of whatever out. A.F. Pilots do that, so do a group of cops, or a group of E-smoker's.
Just be tolerant and don't slam any faith. It's not nice. I once had a lady tell me Catholic's aren't allowed to read the Bible and we sacrifice goats.. Dufus woman!

I jarred up 300+ jars from our garden last year! Talk about storage, I still have a lot of it left too (I never grew up around canning and stuff, I just recently started doing it). I totally agree that having extra food is a great idea...just like we get xtra vaping stuff...you never know what's going to happen.

The one reason I will never step back into a mormon church is for this reason alone:

My father decided to go postal on me one day, I had a cut across my hand and had been hit hard enough to be bruised (but I never bruise, heck I fell and jammed my knee into a sprinkler spike yesterday, limped like heck, but no marks...yet if something touches me barely I get hives, tell me that ain't wierd). Anyways, they were worried I was gonna go to the cops, so they called the bishop. The bishop and his wife came to the house in the middle of the night and had a talk with me. I was pretty much told that my parents could do whatever they wanted to me and I needed to behave, they had every right to beat on me that night. So, anyways, let me finish by saying this...I smoked 2 cigarettes in the whole time I lived with my parents, I never did drugs, I never snuck out, I never had the big S word, I never lied (except once, and 10 minutes later I felt so guilty I told them). I was a goody two-shoes...my parents had no right to beat on me that night. Wait, no parents ever have a reason, even with bad bad kids...spanking is another story, but beating is wrong. So, anyways, I know I cannot stereotype a religion and I know this isn't the best place to post this comment...I'm just stating why I myself am no longer Mormon even though I strongly believe in a lot of the teachings.

To clarify, mormons are allowed blood transfusions last I checked. And even though a mormon might think it's great you quit smoking, they would still think it is wrong to have an addiction to the electronic cig instead...because nicotine is the bad part here, and to them anything addictive is against the rules. So I would have to say that the e-cig may be preferred because it's not stinky and stuff, but it would still be looked down upon.

Matt Salmon is the President of the ECA (Electronic Cig Assoc), and a member of the LDS. I don't think he vapes Nic juice but I think he endorses the product.

oh my heck! heavenly father must be proud, that's a lot of flippin cousins.

inside joke to all in utah or as the jackass california tourist refer to us as, utards.

I believe utard came from wyoming
although I live in UT I have used the name for decades

this thread is hilarious.........being raised mormon and all(not anymore)

let me explain religion as a whole

if your neighbor is a jackass...........it's because he's a jackass
if he's a great guy .........it's because he's a great guy
if a college coed drinks two shots, sleeps with the football team and crashes into a mall it's because she's a "ho" and a ****ty driver, not because of the alcohol
