Has anyone else seen the abstracts of studies that show that smokers have much worse outcomes after prostate cancer treatment? As a PC survivor, I'm now quite concerned that my nic use could have a similar outcome. Anyone know anything about this? (Yes, I will consult my doctors.)

Thanks,

John

Not sure if it does or not. Saw a study on nicotine induced progression of prostate cancer. Don't know if it would apply to you since it sounds as though you beat it. Anyway, here is the study, and you can do a google search and see if you can find out more. I wish you well!!!

Nicotine-induced progression of prostate cancer through activation of the Akt signaling pathway -- Prueitt et al. 2006 (1): 828 -- AACR Meeting Abstracts

And, yes, consult your doctor, especially the prostate specialist, which I assume is a urologist?

Smokers have much lower chance of surviving most diseases because of the damage smoking does to your immune system amongst other things. vaping is not smoking though and you would be better off looking at the epidemological studies of long term Swedish snus users , as they are lifelong nicotine consumers , but not smokers . As far as I remember there are many different studies , one study does show a doubled risk in pancreatic cancer - but still half that of a smokers- but this is absent from other studies
