Vaping and smoke alarms

Hi new to this vaping lark but was wondering weather e-cigs set off smoke alarms or not??

No, they do not put off any smoke.

no - I've just tried puffing all over mine, and it doesn't set it off.
Not surprising really - smoke alarms detect particulate matter (solids), and this is a vapour (liquid droplets). If a detector had a vapour detector, your kettle/shower would probably set it off every time steam was produced.

I think that one member (Cashmere) reported setting one off in an airplane bathroom by blowing directly at it.

It will depend on how the alarm works. If some work "visually" then vape could be mistaken for smoke, perhaps? Any smoke alarm engineers out there who know the whole story?
