So, I'm running into a problem and as usual I'm turning to my fellow ECFers for the answer (you guys apparently have the answers to everything). I vape for the most part at 6mg nicotine and go through 1.5-2ml a day. This does wonders at keeping my nicotine cravings away, and most importantly, keeps the smokes away. The problem however, as soon as i start getting overly stressed, it's not enough any more, even upping to 12mg won't help. I start getting so wound up, I'll eventually break, bum a smoke off of someone (typically at work), itll calm me down, and I'll go on with the rest of my day. I want to drop the smokes entirely, and this seems to be my one, and last weak point. Any ideas on what I can to to finally cut the cord?

I think in your situation that I would have one bottle of pretty high nicotine juice and would chain vape (if need be) when that stress comes your way. I know in my past, pre-vaping days, even if I was in an I Quit phase (gum or whatever) a ton of stress would start me smoking again. My mother had Altzheimers before she died and I came here to PA to take care of her. I arrived as a non-smoker (over a year's worth) and in days I was doing a pack a day. So I get how stress triggers the need to smoke. I think if you tried hitting your pv hard and often and had "special" high nicotine juice to get your nicotine needs taken care of, it might do it for you.

Stress used to be a HUGE trigger for me! I would cave and run to the convince store for a pack of my old brand. I know everyone is diffrent but what worked for me was always carrying a dripper and a high nic bottle of my favorite tobacco flavor. Also, this was my experience anyway. I would run out and buy a pack, smoke one, two or three, then I realized I really didn't want them anymore. I would end up throwing the rest of them away. In time when I felt like I needed them, I would remember that. Seemed like a waste. In time, even the stress pitfall passed, like every other trigger, they do all pass if you just stick with it. It's been almost a year and a half for me now, I can honestly say, nothing makes me want a Ciggrette. It just takes time. I read here once, "Don't count the number of ciggrettes you smoked, count the ones you didn't." Best of luck to ya! :toast:

go with an 18 for those times ... you are as good as done with those smokes dude

Its really not even a craving for nicotine, it's a craving for just a cig, it goes back to the cigs being the "cure all for stress". I havnt bought a pack since the beginning of the year, I refuse to let my self buy any. I just hate this, it's not even me beating myself up over the cigs I've smoked (which is maybe a half pack total since January first). I'm honestly really proud that I'm no longer a pack a day smoker. I hate it because when I smoke one, my lungs disagree, I get bad head aches, and it just tastes god awful. The worst is the next day when I wake up, my lungs will hurt so bad if I smoked a cig or two the day before.

Yeah I totally understand that one ... but you'll need willpower to fight picking up a pack... and after awhile you'll start training your brain that it's stress response will be to vape... its like those people who's stress response is to eat lots of food, or beat off, or drink... just need to retrain for a new stress response... that is going to take time... I remember by first 6 months of vaping, it was a "the suck"... but I keep telling myself the vape has everything I need.. got the nicotine that is what matters... and adjust the air hole boost the power.. and get a few heavy puffs and cough...

See with that, if i start getting a little anxious vaping is perfectly fine. It's just when the stress builds and builds it's like it's suddenly not enough. Maybe I should try cranking the will power up to 150%?

It's so funny you posted this because I've been feeling the same way. Been having relationship problems and I've been wanting a cigarette today for the first time since I started vaping a month and a half ago. I had 2 drags off one about a week into vaping and it was HORRIBLE in every way. It stank, it tasted bad and was just gross.

Even knowing all that I've been thinking about it a lot tonight. I don't want a cigarette but I want that feeling I know so well of lighting one and taking that first drag and feeling my worries slip away, even just temporarily.

This exactly. Stress was the whole reason I started smoking in the first place. I wish it were easier than this. Funny how something so trivial can have so much influence on you.

I've read a little bit about them but not much, guess I should read up on them more..

You are vaping 6mg so I'd get some WholeCig or Aroma E Juice unflavored WTA (22-24mg should work) and add a few drops to your tank setup, or mix it in with some e-juice (if you are dripping). It won't affect the nicotine strength of the juice all that much.

Some people are worried that WTA is more addictive but I just don't find that to be so necessarily- it is more satisfying but it's not like I can't vape regular e-liquid from time to time, and I actually find myself vaping less. And if you dilute WTA you avoid a "stoned" sensation you can get from vaping it straight.

That's a great idea, I'll have to try it. Do either of those brands have their own site? Or is there certain vendors they sell through?

Yh, defo missing something other than nic.

Perhaps a case for getting a dripper. Keep to the normal generally, but if the stress goes up just load something strong on the dripper (or the WTA) and goooooo!!

I have an igo-w3, but my MVP really doesn't put out enough power to get anything off of it due to all the air holes it has. Im looking to get a different rda or start using mechs, but right no money is tight, hence the stress, lol.

Recognize that cigarettes are treated chemicals such as ammonia to speed nicotine delivery and increase addictiveness. While it's the same nicotine, it reaches the brain quicker. And thus the "ahhh" moment that some smokers crave. Vaping will get you to the same place but may take a few minutes.

Once you realize this dynamic, and give yourself a few extra minutes to vape, you should be good. And as noted above, drippers and stronger juice can also help. And remember the reality; vaping is vastly superior to smoking on every level. Enjoy!
