I am much more concerned with my step son thinking it is cool rather than being concerned with health risks. In the end, though, I'd rather him be exposed to me vaping than smoking. At least by seeing me make the switch he is seeing that I am taking a responsible course of action for my long term health.

Hi,

I vape in my Kitchen if the kids are around. I don't like vaping around them but i don't see a problem with it.
I used to smoke cigarettes outside and would come in and stink like tobacco. I beleive vaping is a lot better than coming in stinking of cigarette smoke and being around the kids. The chemicals/toxins soaked in my clothes from cigarette smoking would be way worse than vapour around my kids. I only smoke 11mg liquid and see no problem.

Your kids will love you a lot more and longer for vaping and not smoking cigarettes.

For those with health concerns for anyone (people of any age or pets) ... if you missed the excellent references in StormFinch's post #61 ... scroll up and read 'em. Thanks, SF!

If reading those links doesn't put your mind at ease over "second-hand vapor", you're just not paying attention. ;)

This has snowballed somewhat.

Based on scientific evidence I vape indoors with a clear conscience.

People who hide (or at least think they are hiding) vaping and drinking from their children are naive. Kids miss very little and trying to hide stuff only glorifies it to children. Taboo stuff is cool as far as kids go.

I go down the route of explaining to my kids. They know more than you think.

Personal preferences will always win no matter what advise is offered and that's fine. Please don't push your preferences onto others.

I assume tobacco smoke lingers unlike vaper which will settle much faster, I vape around my children, that said not in their faces and there's not much harm in moving away until we know the proper stats, I really don't think that the second hand vapour will have any affect in regards to cravings

I'm 26 days in to vaping after 20 years of smoking. My kids are 5, 8 and 11. So I've smoked for their entire lives. Never inside and never in a car with them, but outside on the deck for sure, so long the smoke wasn't getting in their face etc. Now I just vape in the house though. They all get that daddy doesn't smoke anymore, and that what I'm doing is WAY better for me, and that it's just water in the air. They know that it's still not a great thing to be doing, and none of them have expressed even vague interest in it really. That being said, if we're all in the same room, I'll have a puff here or there, not a big deal. If I'm chilling out with the ipad and chain vaping I'll go relax in my bedroom.

I have a question.....I have an almost 3-yr old glam-baby I told my daughter, glam-baby's mother...who smokes BTW.....that I had quit smoking and started vaping. She had a fit. "OMG, Mom, are you vaping in the house? Glam-Baby will not be able to come there again. There will be nicotine all in your carpet and furniture".
To which I started to point out how much "nicotine" there might be in her clothes after she went outside to smoke a Camel Turkish analog, and then came back in the house and picked up her child. AND she smokes in her car when glam-baby is not in the car.
But decided not to go there.....
I only vape in the kitchen, which is tile flooring.... and it is a big room. There are 2 fabric wingback chairs in my breakfast room, but other than that, no fabric. All of the tests I've been able to find claim no nicotine is exhaled in the vapor. Do I need to be concerned about this? Glam-baby lives a long way from us and does not visit frequently, but she will be here for a month this summer.

Besides nicotine is only a small fraction of what is harmful in the second hand smoke from analogues

Now I did point that out! And she said "yes, but we never smoke in the house/cars, or around her". Well, I won't vape around her either, and I won't have all that crap on my clothes or in my car! Pfft

No matter the scientific evidemce, I think its an ethical thing. At some point your child will recognize this action and want to know what it is. Do.you want him to be interested in nicotine/smoking/vaping of any kind. Is this habit, safe or.not, so controlling you that you can't simply step outside?

and as someone who recently has been in trouble from the spouse over vaping nearby my young kid, I would suggest you indeed take it outside or do it while you're not at home/with your kid.
