I honestly don't like vaping around children. They may be young, so they have no idea what you're doing. But they are also too young to tell an adult to say NO, or STOP THAT. My rule is I don't vape in front of people unless I ask them and they allow me to. It's just that simple.

What's your opinion on vaping around children?

It isn't harmful vs. unharmful for me really, it is more of a "I don't know if this is good or not" type of mentality.

I still smoke cigarettes on occasion so I go outside, and we know that cig smoke is BAD. The way I look at it, doctors recommended cigarette smoking back in the early 1900's and now we have vapes that claim to be safe. I think it is safe, but I will never subject my daughter to it.

I dont think that is the point, but rather any exposure.

I started smoking cigarettes when I was 8 years old (29 now). A few weeks ago I went to vaping and smoking a ton less, but should I still vape in the house that I do not smoke in? In the early 1900's doctors recommended people to smoke, but now we know it will ultimately kill you one way or another. Vaping is still in its rather infancy and I wont take that chance with my daughter. What if we find out 20 years from now that VG or PG causes scary cancers? Asbestos used to be safe too.

I go outside.

Well I really don't have any skin in this particular game; my son is 26, and I'm never around any actual children. But, considering the 9 yrs I smoked in the house before I started taking it outside, and the 18 yrs I smoked in the car with him in it, I wish I'd had the option to vape around him instead of smoke. It could only have been less harmful than the cigarette smoke.

I grew up in a house with stratified clouds of smoke, and I am okay. Don't get me wrong, I am not faulting you if you vape inside the house. If it was just my wife, sure I'd vape in the house. Because we have a young baby, I won't.

I am not saying that smoking or vaping will give kids brain injuries, I am just saying that I choose not to vape in the house just in case.

Do you think if you don't do it around them, they're going to remain in complete ignorance about it?

The best way to make something "attractive to children" is to sneak around and do it behind their backs, rather than explaining it and demystifying it. And if you don't think you will get caught... you will. Then explaining something you appear to be ashamed of and are trying to keep a secret is only that much harder. The point of distinction that "it's only ok for adults to do this, but not when kids are looking" will be lost.

I *completely* agree. I mean, I can't fault parents for wanting to keep their kids safe; if more parents felt that way, we wouldn't have all these busybodies hollering "for the cheeeeeldren" etc. But not doing it "in front of" them? That really makes it look like you're ashamed of it, and kids aren't stupid by a long shot; if you're ashamed of what you're doing, they're going to know it, and lose respect for you. They would respect far more if you simply took it to another room, to keep it away from their immediate area, but let them know that it's a grownup thing, and you don't want to pollute their air.

I dont have kids, but I am exactly of the same mind as you. I dont vape in an enclosed space without the permission of others. For the kids, so as to not confuse the issue of smoke/vape for the adults so as to not get the hair up on the back of their neck and rudely throw vaping in their face. Better to pacifily educate them than be an ...... and shove it in their face.

I tend not to vape around children.

Not because I think its harmful but because I dont want them emulating my bad habits.

And while vaping is infinitely better for us than smoking was, the same could be said about not inhaling anything at all into our lungs.

With the exception of air of course.

Although, I know a few people Id like to see giving up breathing altogether as well..............

100% correct. Its not about hiding it... its about doing your best to not set a bad example.

I vape in the house and yes around my children. My children know that myself and their father are vaping to not smoke. They also know that vaping is not something that is cool or fun. As they don't want to spend their lives carrying a PV everywhere they go. I am not to worried about vaping around my kids because with the health benefits that my husband and I see and feel, I just don't find the vape harmful to them.
