Hey guys. I know vapor is safer than smoke so I was wondering about second hand vapor around my son who is 2. In the car? Windows up? Down? In the house? Etc. Please don't tell me that vapor is harmless in every way imaginable. It is not natural, therefore in my opinion it is not 100% "safe" as there are different chemicals used for consistency and flavors and many, many different brands of e liquids made in many, many different labs or even in a local shop's back room. Should I have concerns? I keep the liquid and vapor away from him of course but still curious. Thanks!

It sounds like you have already answered your own question.

If you feel it is not safe than why ask anyone else? You are his parent so go with your gut instinct. You do not need people on a forum to tell you what to do.

Personally I would not vape/cloud up a closed room with a child there. But I also think that people are exposed to much more dangerous things in the course of life.

IMO fumes from cleaning the house or someones perfume pose the same amount of harm. I think back as someone born in the early 70's and know that my generation survived much worse than being exposed to vaping. That being said.. it is a personal choice as a parent as to what you teach your child or expose them to.

To each their own. I don't avoid my children while vaping and I do it indoors. I stopped smoking because the kiddos have asthma and it turns out I have a touch of it too. I never did smoke tobacco indoors but we have all had fewer breathing problems since I quit.
My youngest has a nebulizer and we have had a terrible time getting him to keep the mask on the face. He saw me vaping and figured I must be "taking my medicine" (which isn't too far from the truth) and now he'll take his medicine on his own just about as often as he's supposed to. He seems to get just as mesmerized by his vapor as much as I do by my clouds.

I tell all my children that I vape just to keep from smoking or chewing and all but the youngest understand and know that Tobacco is BAD.

About a year ago I saw footage of someone Vaping onto a sheet of glass. The surface quickly became covered with a layer of steam/condensation. As yet, there is no evidence that vapour inhaled or exhaled is harmful, but it is just this unknown aspect that probably means you are rightly reluctant to take any chance - it's not worth it.

It's your choice as the parent of course, but outside and away from children has got to be the safest and most sensible precaution.

I wouldnt do it I have younger nieces and nephews and my brothers do smoke around them but I always try to get them away from it. Even just growing up in a household of smokers I became very immune to the severity of how bad cigarettes are from watching my family do it. Again she is pretty young and probably doesnt understand what it is but just for me personally I don't do it so wouldn't reccomend you do it. Its totally a personal choice for you though. (there have been studies showing secondhand vapor is not harmful)

This sort of comment irritates me a little. Just because something is natural/organic/comes out the ground does not mean it's safe/safer than man made products. Tobacco for example is natural/comes out the ground and we all know the health dangers of using that.

As for vaping around children I personally don't do it. Although it's safer than passive smoke no one really knows the dangers if any yet. When kids are involved I think it's always best to err on the side of caution.

I keep it away from my daughter. Shes only 15 months and already thinks that literally EVERYTHING is a toy. To the best of my knowledge she doesn't know what my mods are/hasnt seen me use them, but shes reached for them before when i forgot to stash them up high. Seeing my daughter with my mech and RDA in hand (even though the lock ring is always locked) terrified me more than anything. Let alone it just looks wrong.

I agree with you. I smoked in the house till my son was 9; he was missing so much school, I started taking it outdoors, which helped a great deal. But vapor, I do in the house, and I would even if he was still a child living in the house with us -- I started vaping JUST SO I could do it indoors. My mother has COPD, but spent 5+ hrs inside her closet with me, me vaping the whole time; I don't use high VG or sub-ohm so it doesn't accumulate, it vanishes in seconds, and it doesn't trouble anyone regularly exposed to it, from my husband to my stepfather to my aunt to my COPD-afflicted mother. They all know how long I smoked (39 yrs) and how impossible I found quitting, till vaping.

Like I said, regardless of responses I will not vape in front of my son nor was I looking for a reason to. By "natural" I did not mean something that grows. Perhaps that was not the right word. I do not consider anything safe unless it is vital for my survival. That's a better way to put it. Pizza, soda, gum, etc etc etc are not considered safe to me because I do not NEED it. Vaping is not safe, smoking is not safe, the face wash I use is not safe. That being said, I keep it all away from my son and was having a hard time finding solid results as to the health effects of second hand vapor and that was my primary focus of this post which is why I mentioned that I keep it away. My apologies if my wording was not the best.

For me the main worry would be the child seeing it and thinking its ok to do. Idc if your vaping 0mg. The bad thing is they start as smoking alternatives and go to fads. To each his own but vaping anything at a high wattage with a heating coil is taking some contaminents into your lungs. Maybe I dont get the fad side but if I didnt smoke Id never start vaping.

vaping has not been proven to produce 'second hand smoke' like cigs. That said exposing young children to high concentrations of vapor should be avoided IMO until more is known.
That said my wife, a non-smoker and very light vaper, has asthma and on bad days vapes 0 nic to relieve her symptoms. It works, so go figure.
Note her juice is high pg 50/50 or higher. high vg juice does not help her symptoms.

I wouldn't especially if your liquid has nicotine. I saw some study that says some amount of nicotine is released into the air. Open your window a little in the car even if it's just you vaping. Far safer than smoking but not risk free.
