The property where my office is has a single smoking area that's about as far from my office as you can get plus it smells like sewage over there. Needless to say, when I was smoking analogs we would rarely go over there opting to go out in the parking lot, etc. The property manager sent numerous emails to our management about it. We were never standing near entry ways (which I despised even as a smoker). We fondly referred to the property manager as the Nicotine Nazi.

I started vaping first then got my coworker on it. We've only been vaping for about a month. I can't believe it took a month but today mgt got the email. He replied with "they aren't smoking, they're vaping". A little later (I didn't know about the email) mgt came to my cube with the Nico Nazi. He wants to see my pv. Now, I'm using a puck I made, complete with a red button, an atty for life atty. It totally looks like some kind of detonator. I took a puff for him. Instead of hearing what I expected he was not only nice about it but supportive. He's going to work on adjusting their policy to recognize vaping as something they wouldn't hassle us about. He was completely cool with me vaping inside the building. He's problem was that same ole argument, if people see you doing that they'll think it's ok to smoke. At first he said he would setup vaping areas right outside but later pretty much left it open for now. He was going to send out an email to all the tenants to let them know what we were doing, pictures of what pvs look like, etc. Then, he asked if maybe we would do a little seminar to introduce others to pvs. Turns out his dad was a 3 pad smoker.

I was quite surprised with the entire affair and wanted to share some positive news.

I've been vaping at my desk for probably 9 months now....the folks around me know I vape and the one in front of me is adament about keeping my right to vape!!!
She's on board with vaping and knows that I vape and has absolutely NO problem with it, in fact she thinks that if they try to ban E-cigs that it's about the dumbest thing they could do.
Gotta love co-workers like that...my boss doesn't seem to care either, and the liquid I use really doesn't smell...so they hardly ever know unless I tell them.

I'm probably in the minority on this, but there's a reason for designated smoking areas. Many people flick cigarette butts all over the ground and it can become an ugly mess that nobody wants to see. Even if you are being responsible while smoking in non designated smoking areas, other less responsible people may get the idea that they can too and cause problems.

It can also be a fire hazard. I live in central TX, which is in a severe drought right now, and the building management at work has been warning smokers to make sure they put out cigarette butts properly.

Maybe you can find a vendor who can give you some donations if you advertise their website or something so you can give out a few to people who are really interested in them!

That's a really good idea. He hasn't said anything else about it but if it does happen I'll have to look into that.
