It's been said that it's more common in younger drivers. Older folks need to grab the car body door area for support as they get out of the car, and that discharges the build up. I'm usually too busy cleaning my windows or whatnot while the pump is running, so I don't get back into the car. Plus only a 13gal tank fills quickly. :)
Women too... No offence, ladies. But women are more inclined to get in and out of their vehicles while pumping gas.

I know its the vapor not the gas itself, I know more about what I'm doing with fuel than I may sound like, thats why I knew I could do the demonstration. Like I said, I admit that when I was 16 and I smoked analogs pumping gas, it was stupid, my point only was, that using a pv or a cell phone while pumping gas into your car isn't as big a deal as some make it to be, we are just raised in a scared paranoid society, the 4 volts your cell phone makes isn't enough to even make any type of spark, the natural resistance of air is too high, unless maybe you pulsed it through a bad ... step up coil like the way camera flashes work, but then you are just being stupid :)

I do understand your point about making the habit look bad, never thought of it like that.

But all that aside, I guess I will keep my little amusements to myself from now on so as not to be attacked
No one is attacking you, bro.

I may be young, I may do things that some people see as dangerousetc, and hey I don't think about every thing all the time, I try my best to avoid that because it drives me insane

But I am not an idiot, I have an IQ of 152, a Background in electrical and electronic engineerng, back ground in chemistry and combustibles, hell when I was 16, I was working with different fuel sourtces for my lawnmower, and converted it to run an on demand electrolosis system and ran the thing for a week on hydrogen till my electrodes I made of Aluminim cans(all I had at my disposal) corroded away

Like I said I understand making vapign look bad, sorry I didnt think about that right there in the moment, but jumping on my like I'm some foolish child I mean come on, Dissagree wit me, okay, thats fine, just do it in a civil maner

Now see, I could almost agree with you on this one, except for this:

Oh the looks you get while vaping while pumping gas, and the way the people scurry to leave XD

Your wording alone there is part of the problem.

All up in your grill..
So a pirate walks into a bar with this huge steering wheel hanging out of his crotch. The bartender asks: "Dude! Why the hell do you have a huge steering wheel hanging out of your pants?"

The pirate responds:

"Arghhh! It drives me nuts!"

Not to speak on the vaping while pumping gas issue. (I don't recommend it)

But I wanted to get in on the poor humor.

i agree its fun to do. i think the lighter is more risky than the actual cigarette at the gas station.

i was vaping away the other day whilst pumping gas. i thoguht nothing of taking a few rips from my pv. next thing i know, the attendant walked herself out there and is staring at me vaping. she attempts to tell me not to smoke, but before she could, i opend my palm and showed her my box mod. i saw her mind fumbling to ask me to stop ______. she couldnt come up with a word lol. so i just politely told her i will stop if its making her nervous. she was happy and i got a nice little chuckle out of it.

edit: i hear ya loud and clear about vaping and avoidign the negative light. good point. well taken.

I used to smoke analogs while pumping gas( I know that actually IS dsangerous) but since gas now days has such a higher flash point than it used to back in the day, it's really not quite as dangerous as every one thinks. I proved this to my cousin by dropping an analog in a bucket of gas and laughing at his facial expression as it didnt catch fire

I do not vape while pumping gas. I do not use my cell phone then, either. I worry a bit about a possible electronic spark at a most inopportune time. :)

better safe than sorry. static electricity is also a big concern. im sure most people discharge it before hand, but it can get nasty. there are horror photos of exploded vehicles.

woops...i guess it would help to realize that there was more than 1 page to this thread before posting

Yeah...because we don't turn thick VG into vapor using only 3.4-6.0 volts. Just look at your coil when you hit the button on your PV. Still think it's not enough to make any type of spark or be an ignition source? That low voltage will heat a coil red hot. Imagine what that voltage and hot coil can do to a fuel that is already a vapor in the air.

Sorry... I missed that last night. And, for your sake, and the sake of anyone else that might read this thread, I couldn't let that statement go.

Not to be mean, but thats just ignorance of what makes the whole system work and the nature of electricity, maybe if you dropped your phone in water 5 min before and it short circuited right at the end of the gas nozzle, then maybe it would be possible...

The small size of the wire with the high amperage flowing through it is what makes an atty get hot, a cell phone does not at any point pull enough amperage to create enough heat to ignite gas, even the atty of a 5v mod would have a hell of a time igniting gas vapors as Gassoline has an auto ignition point of 280 degrees farenheit. Not trying to bean mean or anything, just saying.
On anothe note, in a much better mood today. When I feel every one is against me my anxiety kicks in, I feel cornered and get defensive, so I appologize for my little rant and all last night
