I vape at my desk at work and try to keep it as incognito as possible. My cubicle farm neighbors enjoy the scent.

The HR director of my company thought the building was on fire when I ripped a mean pull while showing off one of my mods yesterday, she laughed when I showed her what brought the fog but told me no more indoors. I usually keep to my protank and ego at my desk but I'll have to be more careful.

I can do it in my office quietly (have my own room, no cubicles) but I deal with students and professors all day so I can't be letting out clouds because if one walks in when I do there might be an issue. I did have a student walk in and he named the liquid I was vaping from the smell and we talked about vaping for a bit. I think it might have just been luck that he guessed correctly, but it was pretty funny.

I initially vaped away in my cubicle but the powers that be decided to decree it the same as smoking, and thus banned it. I now need to go outside for my nicotine fix, and fortunately for me, I'm relatively free to leave my cube and head outside whenever I want. Chain vape for a few minutes to get my nicotine levels up, and then back to the salt mine to tinker with some more source code.

I vape in the areas where customers don't see me. My assistant smokes, so I vape inside and she goes outside whenever she feels like it, my company currently has no policy about vaping so I'm assuming it's fine as long as I'm as discrete as I would be with food or drink.

Though last week at a meeting I stepped outside with the only smoker there, and when I returned everyone seemed surprised I went outside, about 8 people agreed they didn't care if I vaped in the meeting room, our boss joked we'd get done faster. Nice of them, I'll be doing that from now on.

PG is the vehicle for the medication in asthma inhalers and secondhand nicotine has been show to be virtually non existent with ecigs. Now, the flavoring may cause problems, but I would venture to guess that flavorless would be safe. We'll see as more studies are published.

Though it may not be an issue for asthmatics in general, some people have sensitivities to PG, even some vapers do. I don't know what's in her inhalers, but I do know that there are PGless inhalers on the market. Could be the VG too, or the flavoring. In fact, it might just be the texture of the vapor in general (she's pretty severely asthmatic, and she was off her steriods at the time my vapor induced an attack, I've avoided it since).

I'm not going to take chances and try flavorless. Risking an asthma attack for her like that would make me an .... There's absolutely no reason for that when I can move to a different room, or just go outside. I don't need to see studies to know that my vapor bothers her lungs. And you know what? We shouldn't need a study to prove that our vapor might bother some people with breathing issues, or allergies, in order for us to not vape around people who've indicated it bothers them. It's called being a considerate human being. My desire to vape does not trump anyone's right to breathe.

I work in a welding shop and almost everyone smokes. The first day I took my ego to work everybody was interested in it. A lot of questions like what is it and how does it work. My supervisor now has an EVOD and numerous co-workers either have an ego or are waiting for something in the mail. The owner approves and is actually is almost promoting e-cigs! The only problem I've ran into at work is when I get a new juice it seems everybody has to try it!

No problem vaping at work. When I woke my boss this morning, I plopped in the easy chair in her bedroom while we went over the schedule for the day and exhaled some vapor discreetly of to the side, she goes "are you blowing that nice smell to the other side?" I kind of nodded a little embarrassed and she goes "oh no don't do that on my account it smells so nice".So I took a long drag and exhaled the plumes of vapor across the bed with her eyes closing blissfully and her nose going a mile a minute she said "it smells sooo nice".

Guess its ok for me to smoke at work.:)

I work for a company that groups vaping with tobacco related products. It's strictly prohibited. . .even on breaks or out in your car on lunch. Until a few months ago, it was considered a serious violation that would put you one step away from termination. It's kinda overkill for big box retail (especially as we don't wear anything to identify us as employees unless we are in the store). I vape off the property on my lunch break and occasionally stealth vape in the bathroom. It's frustrating to have my employer dictate what I do with my time, but they pay me. So, I can deal with it or find another job. Whomp whomp!

I am in a situation where I had to contact my legal department as there are no rules on E-smoking right now. I am a Canadian and I just bought my First E-Cigarette.

I was not sure on the rules, therefore decided on sending an email to my HR requesting information on Vaping. The only information I could get is that E-Cigarette is illegal and considered as smoking. Therefore decided to go further and I asked to be sent this information by email with facts and not beating around the bush type of answer.

This means that if I continue this route this could mean that all the buildings would have to change the “Do not smoke” signs to also include the “Do not Vapor” signs.

I have created a “hit storm.

I am also looking for some good concrete facts and information to help me open this can of ….

I hope I win this case as there is no odour to my E-Cigarette.

Right now no one at my HR section can give me a concrete answer.

I'm not sure what your goal is. It sounds like your employer doesn't want to have you vaping in the office, whether it's actually illegal or not (I am not familiar with Canadian law on the matter). The only thing I think you can expect to accomplish is for them to either show that it's illegal, or get them to admit that it's not, so they just create a policy saying you can't. I doubt they'd have to change signs. There are no signs at my office saying, "No punching co-workers", but that is, unfortunately, the policy.
