I went to my office yesterday for a quick meeting with the owner of the studio and one of the producers. I told them that I'd just taken a part time job working at a place that sells the e-cig.

The owner (my mom away from mom) had heard of them but didn't know much about it and the producer had no clue.

I told them ALL about it and brought mine out for a demo. They both thought it was cool and the owner just giggled at me for being so enthusiastic. She hated when I smoked, but was never nagging about it.

I'm glad they are good with it so the next time we're filming on location somewhere, no one will give me any flack about vaping on set.

I work in a small department. The two most sensitive cow-orkers are fine with my vape. I did it right in front of each of them, AFTER explaining what it was and getting their interest, and they didn't see or smell a thing and are thrilled that I quit smoking.

That said, I vape only at my desk in my own office, or in the bathroom, or the conference room when nobody else is present. I'd rather not be obvious about it - out of sight, out of mind :)

I have not asked permission at work, just do it. A woman that works in the office came down an aisle in the plant while I was on my break and saw my vapor. She asked (in a shocked tone) are you smoking? I said no, do you see a cigarette in my hand? She said no. I have my soda in one hand and a VK XL in the other. Poor woman is sick, she had told me earlier, went to the Dr that evening, has pneumonia. Bet she made an appointment when she went back to the office cause she thought she was hallucinating.:)

Okay, so this is my official first post after lurking for awhile, getting to know the community. :)

Great place to get tips and suggestions. Thanks all!

Anyway, so my boss comes from a long line of smokers and pretty much gave it up years ago, but smokes when she drinks (don't we all?). This is a family business so you really never know which family member will pop up here. I'm not family but we say I'm 'adopted.' LOL

I mentioned that I bought myself one for xmas (since no one else would) and she wanted to see it, so I brought it in. She asked to try it and handed it over and she's hooked! Now we both have one -- well actually I have two, one for home, one for office. Haven't smoked the real thing since!

Now? She's bought one for her brother, whom she worries about being a 2 - 3 pack a day smoker-- actually I worry about that amount too. And her mom, who is in her late 70s and has smoked for 50 years bought one as well! She was so intrigued, we let her try one and she's hoping to get off analogs now. Imagine that!

Used it at my fave watering hole last weekend and all the regulars were jealous. We can smoke in bars in my county, but still, it's a cool gadget and everyone is so interested. One guy I know, is going to buy too.

The Q
I have been vaping at my desk, which is right outside of my bosses office for about a month now...she knows that I do it and does not care, I am at my desk and get a lot more work done now. She even asked me about it to try and get one for her father-in-law.

I have not gone to seek approval from the higher ups yet...though the VP of operations is the one who brought me over from our former place of employment. I try and stealth vape to an extent...but mostly just blow the vapor out downward (as apposed to just letting out a huge plume right into the air)

First post BTW :)

I work at a hospital as a respiratory therapist. The campus is totally smoke free. I stealth vape in the hallways. I also vape in the restrooms, breakrooms, elevators (alone of course). It helps to hold in the vapor a bit longer so when you exhale, very little if any vapor comes out. I have been doing this since I started in October without an incident.

My boss is two cubes down and can see me. She dont really care if I stealth vape but I work for a large company and was told that I would have to go through HR to get it officially approved. I am gonna give that a shot.

I wouldn't. It's not smoking so I don't feel guilty about it, just somewhat cautious. My plant manager walked into my office just after I'd exhaled a big drag but pretended not to notice. Good enough.

If you take the issue to HR, they may very well rule against vaping in case one ignorant anti-smoker later complains, or just because they don't feel like sticking their bureaucratic neck out, even a little. "How would it look to visitors?" would be one of their considerations. CYA is the rule.

I work at a hospital and vap discreetly during my shifts. People have noticed the vapor coming out of my mouth on many occasions but no one approaches me about it nor seems upset or confused about it.

My wife recently had surgery and while I was sitting there in the waiting room I decided to pull out my Tornado and go to town. Not one person came up to me or told me to stop. My wife even had hers while she was in recovery.

Awesome!

I heard a rumor though around the hospital I work at that worries me.. A few doctors are saying that when the hospital enforces the No Smoking ban next month that e-cigs are included in that. Reason it worries me so much is that employees will be fired for violating it. :(
