Vaping causing coughing - Should I be worried?

I know that there are tonnes of posts about coughing, and I know coughing up phlegm is completely normal when you're quitting cigarettes - My issue is that I have never smoked a cigarette in my life. vaping is a hobby for me. I use it as a substitute for sweets and something for my hands to do while I walk my dogs and such.

I've been vaping for about 1 month and a half and lately I have been getting a cough when I'm not vaping - It's usually not too bad but some phlegm does come up.

I vape a Wismec Realeux RX Mini at 80w with a Cleito 120.
My juice is usually Witchcraft 70/30 which I enjoy a lot and I vape at 3mg (I enjoy using nic)

Any help is appreciated, should I be worried that I'm coughing even though I haven't ever smoked cigs?

Are you coughing to clear your lungs or clear your throat?

My lungs - the 3mg doesn't give me an annoying throat hit or anything - barely any throat hit at all in that tank
My lungs often feel like I need to cough just slightly - slightly enough so that I dont actually have to cough, however sometimes I do cough and phlegm usually comes up. Not painful or anything.

What is the percent of VG in your liquid?

Umm, tough one.

I never coughed up stuff as a smoker and certainly not as a vaper. Coughing, yes.

Things I know (or believe to be true)...
Vapour (English spelling) is an irritant to the airways. Like it or not, you will be irritating your body.
VG is 'heavy' on the body, it seems normal that some coughing would take place depending on the condition of your general health.

Would I be worried in your position? No, not really.

You haven't said how much power (watts) you are vaping at... high power and VG is like sitting in a sauna to me and we also know the residue left on windows vaping in enclosed spaces (like a car) but I don't worry about such things as a) it's safer than smoking and b) our/your lungs have cleaning abilities.

My post says both - I vape at 80w and use 70% VG Liquid. I'm a slight cloud chaser if you couldn't tell - My throat gets really irritated when I use high PG liquids such as Liqua 50/50 so I prefer higher VG

My bad. I read it as an RX 80w mod.

i.m.o. 80w and high VG is going to be heavy on your system. Even a few vapes a day at 40w with thick premium VG juice leaves me feeling quite overwhelmed.
Well my tank doesn't even fire below 50w and I said lower VG liquids give me a throat hit that I don't enjoy - I will most likely keep vaping at this wattage and VG so I'm just wondering if the coughing is anything to worry about?

Same here, and there's also the occasional heavy throat clearing. It is an order of magnitude better than the chronic coughing and wheezing from smoking.

Yeah I would assume that vaping is still worse for your lungs than breathing air - however none of my friends who vape seem to have any coughing problems which is why I'm worried about some allergic reaction or something.

I've never vaped higher than 50% VG. I've read in this forum that high VG may create a heavy feeling in the chest. I don't get that with my 50/50 mix but can get a phlemy throat that needs clearing. At a recent check up the doc says my lungs make no concerning sounds, lucky for me after so many years of smoking but vaping for the last three years.

May be if you never smoked you might let go of vaping. How about chew on pencil erasers instead.

It's my choice to vape, just like it was your choice to smoke cigarettes a long time ago. I'm not trying to offend anyone, would just like to know if any other non-smokers have had this issue and if it's something to be concerned about.

Also congratulations - 3 years, that's a long damn time man

One of my relapsess happened after 10 years smoke free. A long time has to mean forever. So try lowering the VG to 50 percent and see if that helps. Clouds will be reduced. Flavor tends to improve.

Just happen to have a few bottles of 50/50 lying around, I'll see if it helps, thanks anyways :p

How much are you vaping? If you're using over 10 ml a day that could be the problem. Some can go higher, just a rough guideline. If reduction helps then the choices are put up with it, reduce frequency of use, reduce rate of use (power level etc.), or try making it more agreeable such as trying diff. PG/VG, or less strongly or differently flavored.

Get some distilled water and put a few drops in your tank. Should help. If it does help add a bit to your bottle of juice. Add to 70vg in tank.
Welcome to ECF. VDW, vaping dog walks are the best.

Welcome to ecf, my thoughts, I'm not a doctor, are to try a few suggestions but if after a certain length of time, arbitrary time picked by yourself, if no change, improvements, or worsening of cough then it may be time for a doctor appointment as if I understand correctly the cough is not while vaping so it may not have anything to do with vaping and maybe something else is going on.
Good luck and keep us informed k
