I am conducting interviews and surveys to learn about oral communication in the vaping community. Responses will be evaluated in light of mixed messages about e-cigarettes as a cessation device or a new form of "smoking."

Thesis question:
Is vaping a healthy alternative to smoking and what sources do you trust to evaluate this question? Also, do you consider e-cigarettes a cessation device?

All participation is anonymous. Personal demographic data collected will be 1) age (you must be between the ages of 21-30) and 2) gender.

Thank you for your honest feedback.

My honest feedback is that an age range of 21-30 is not much use to anybody.

The most common age group using e-cigarettes are middle-aged people.

Is this true?

I'd agree with a wider demographic (for this survey's purposes), but maybe targeting 21-30 year olds specifically ensures that the surveyor might get less educated (or more educated, who knows) people based on the specific age range?

I agree with this statement. I think you will see an astounding difference in answers if you widened the age group. Without making serious generalizations the mentality of vapors over 30 are different and many of us have used vaping as a way to quit a long standing habit. (Btw, I am 33, so barely outside your range but quit a 17 year habit with vaping)

But perhaps that's intentional? Maybe OP is only interested in the mentality/knowledge of vapers 21-30?

Sort of like how, if you were to take a survey about video games, you might be screened out for being above the age of 25. Usual age range for things like video game surveys is 18-25, while age range for, say, cholesterol medication is 35+

(I have fair bit of experience with surveys/marketing/understanding demographics).

Survey? for what? Oh...and I'm 60 and quit smoking over a year ago. For what purpose a survey is going do at this point in the rapidly growing E-Cig market that our Government dictatorship (.... tators), Bureaucracy, FDA and WHO (what a joke) are trying to get a hold of to control and rape for profit. It's obvious by the numbers in sales and use what the people want with no ill side effects by the facts and tons of info already out there. In other words.....Survey is a waste time.

Is the purpose of survey to show attractivity of vaping to younger non-smoking population?

18+ is within the legal range for people to buy nicotine (in most states), so really the best way to achieve that younger non-smoking demographic would be to limit it to 18 and under. I don't know a lot of adults (18+) who vape, yet didn't smoke cigarettes.
