My smok Nord broke last night. I googled the problem and got an endless number of hits from people that have had the same problem. Lots of Youtube videos explaining how to fix the problem. Apparently, it has something to do with the three metal prongs attached to the battery getting pushed in and no longer making contact with the pod. Some guy tore the thing apart to show how cheaply made the springs are that are underneath the little metal prongs.

I spent 40 dollars at a vape shop for my Nord for an electronic device that was made on the cheap for a few pennies. The Nord has been around for awhile, as has this problem with the prongs. Does Nord know about it? Of course they do. Have they fixed the problem with better parts or a redesign? Of course not. What do you think, they are a legit company like Apple or Samsung? They don't care about ripping people off. Some Chinese "engineer" probably sketched out the idea for the Nord while on the toilet. Then he figured out what parts would be needed to put it together as cheaply as possible. The factory probably started producing them the same day and them sold them to marks like me who want to quit smoking.

If I bought something defective at Walmart or Target and brought in the product with the receipt, I would get my money back. How about in the vape world? Not a chance. You've got to deal with the company yourself and they will jerk you around until you give up and forget it. If you are very lucky, they will send you a replacement device after the vape store owner asks the company to do them a favor. Three months and tons of phone calls later, you might get a replacement device. But most people either give up or don't try to begin with. There's always plenty of new marks trying to quit smoking.

The guys at the vape shop told me how great this device is. They must be aware of the garbage they are hawking to people. Or maybe they don't know. People who work at vape shops are not the brightest people. And it's not just the Nord. It's every gd vape I've ever bought. One vape blew up while charging and burned a hole in my carpet which cost me 500 dollars to repair. I wrote about it on here and no one on here believed me and said I was trolling until I showed photos of the blown up device and my charred carpet. I heard, oh yeah, you shouldn't have charged it through a laptop. How the hell was I supposed to know that and why wasn't a safety feature installed to turn it off? Because that would have been too expensive to put in.

Let me ask you this. Why are all the instruction booklets that come up with the vape devices written in bizarre broken English, obviously written by a Chinese person? Because they were too cheap to hire a translator, they didn't think of it or they thought their English was better than it was. If you purchased an Apple laptop and the instructions were written in broken English, it would be incomprehensible. But not in the vape world! That's just normal. The reason they didn't get someone to check most likely is because they thought their English was good enough. That sums up vape devices: good enough. Those Chinese ......s could have found a native English speaker on the street and offered to buy him lunch if he agreed to spend 10 minutes proofreading their bad English.

If vape shop workers had any shame, they would quit, and if the owners had any shame, they would shut down their shops. They are all complicit in this and so are most of you.

SMOK's business model seems to be: We make it cheap. When it breaks, you buy another.

Cheap seems to be what the vast majority of people wanted. If cheap is what sells, cheap will be made and readily available.

I'm coming up on 4-1/2 years with my EDC mod. It still works perfectly. But it wasn't cheap by any stretch of the imagination.

You can't expect perfection from cheap corner cutting companies like Smok. I would suggest looking into more reputable companies that actually take pride in their products. A well made mod can last for years of hard use, but you will need to pay a bit more for the quality of construction.

I kinda felt bad for you,and even agreed on most of this,up until i seen this part.If enough people on here say a product is good,i trust them on that, and have bought several times due to what was said here, and have never had issues.
If you have truly read what most people here say,you would have never bought a Smok product to begin with.I don't own any of their products,so i can't say one way or the other, but i have seen numerous threads and posts about very bad quality from that brand,so,as i said,i trust what people here say,and i didn't waste my money.

I have a few Nords, one did have the spring problem, which I think I caused when cleaning, had to toss it. The others have given me zero problems, the original one is 14 months old, works great. They are not my adv, but are used every day. I agree Smok is not known for quality, but I'm happy with my Nords. One more thing I didn't pay $40, but got mine online for $20.

This is your fault for buying a Smok product to begin with. Quit whining because you bought garbage.

Hey, fu. The reviews looked good for the Nord when I took a cursory look, and the guys at the vape shop highly recommended it. Also, my point was it's not just Smok that sucks. All mods suck. After my Nord died, I went to Walgreens and got a disposable Blu ecigarette at Walgreens and fully enjoyed it. I've come full circle from buying all those stupid mods.

Two words come to mind when I read All this.

Caveat Emptor

Maybe it Just Me? But when I buy something like a Mod, I like to do a Google Search for problems with it Before I buy it. Not after I have it and I then have a Problem.

The Exception is SMOK products. Because I seen 5 Lifetimes worth of Posts about what Crappy Products they make. So I just save the "Googling for Problems before I Buy" step. And just Don't Buy ANYTHING that is made by SMOK.

You tell me fu and call another member stupid. Maybe you should look in the mirror when you say that. After all you're the one that bought a garbage Smok product BEFORE you did the research on it. You're whining about something that is YOUR OWN DAMN FAULT!

I buy stuff on Amazon a lot. One of the reasons is that Amazon has reviews. Just got some headphones, my second set ever so I didn't know much about headphones. The old ones died after many years. I spent several hours reading reviews. Got a set that had really good reviews and was reckoned to last a long time. High quality material on the pads that wouldn't deteriorate, plug in cable that could be replaced if it got damaged, etc. Could have paid a lot less, would have done that if it was something where I didn't care how long it lasted. No matter what product you want to buy there will be higher and lower levels of quality available. Companies will sell crap as long as people are willing to buy it to save a few bucks, sometimes bucks matter more to me than quality. My choice.

It's not hard to find info about vaping gear.

Generally true, but I have mods from Innokin and Smoant in the same price bracket as Smok stuff that’s working fine after 4 years. I’ve had one more expensive mod I bought on clearance that failed. The Chinese vendor sent a replacement I received in 2 weeks (it was shipping from China, so that’s pretty good).

If your local vape shop hard sells you crap, don’t buy there. There are plenty on reliable online vendor with better prices ($40 for a Nord?) and no hard sell. They also have better store warranty policies.

Ans to the OP if you’re happy with Blu, congrats, stick to it.

Amazons sometimes hard to shop at even with reviews. I did alot of reading on something of late and found out that one supplier offered xtra freebies with a good review. Same other places tho I rekon.

We don't like the "S" word... both from newer members and from people responding to newer members. Another one is the "I" word. Also, I have lost count of how many threads here about issues with Smok products... almost one everyday. Finally... "Fu"... come on, are you trying extra hard to make enemies (on a forum that tends to very helpful and full of good advice/info)? By my count, that's basically "three strikes you're out" ;)
