I vape at 85 watts. I now primarily vape unflavored 2mg nic with 2% sweetener at 20PG\80VG and only use flavored juice for a day or so at 50/50 when I need to take a break from constant high VG vaping. I use the "Limitless Plus". No dry hits ever. Easy to fill. 6.5 ml tank. It is a Toptank design and does not leak unless you turn it on it's side or upside down. If I want it to be leak proof I close the airflow holes, put a vape band over them and plug the drip tip with a "#000 Rubber stopper". I also use a griffin 25 Drip Tip on the Limitless Plus. I run it on a triple 18650 Reuleaux regulated mod. Solid setup. Maybe it would work for you. I still have to re-wick and dry burn my coils after 5 days but it's no big deal. The deck is easy to build on. Wicking is a little more painful but not too bad. Just wick like any RDA but extend the tails down into the tank. There are viseod on how to do it on Yahoo. I find combing\thinning the tails and running them to the bottom of the tank keeps the wick saturated. Good luck, don't give up.

In the small amounts of flavoring you are using I can't imagine diacetyl is going to be a problem, at normal flavoring levels vaping has 100 times less than a cigarette, and you are using 1/10 the normal amount of flavoring.
I really like my Kangertech Dripbox. There is a big thread in the bottom feeder sub forum about them. Get yourself a Tobecco Velocity V2 to replace the stock atty and you are set with a dead reliable, easy to build, easy to wick set up. The only time mine has ever leaked was when I just squonked and layed it on its side. I have also dropped mine at least 50 times from 2-3 feet, it's missing paint, has dings, ripped the juice bottle bottom support off and still fires no sweat. Whole set up was like $35 shipped.

It's late for me and I am tired but, I just want to leave this info here for you to read. Everyone has an opinion on diacetyl and they are entitled to it. But, I have never even heard of a smoker having pocorn lung. Think about that after you read this. ;)
Media Bias Exposed: ‘Popcorn Lung’ Chemical 750 Times Greater In Tobacco Vs. E-Cigarettes

If I could only vape a flavor that contained small amounts of diacetyl and the choice was that or smoking cigs, you can bet I would have no problem at all vaping that flavor without even thinking twice about it.

Hang in there and good luck.

If memory serves there was 1 case if either 9 or 11 people being diagnosed with popcorn Lung, and all of them worked at one company that prepared microwave poocorn pouches.

Somewhere out there
Had horrible experiences with flavors west everything tasted like perfume. Steeping didn't help. Airing it out didn't help. Tried messing with percentages. Really I couldn't handle anything over 1% in any line. I don't know what it is, but it all tasted so strong to me.
Amazing how everyone has their more tolerant flavors, we are all a bit different. I can't do pure VG either, we all have to find what works for us :)

The closest I came to success with making my own juice was plain with a very tiny amount of Capellas Vanilla Custard, but they changed the recipe because there was a chemical in it that was dangerous, and it just wasn't the same after that. Once I find a reliable device that can vape high VG I will probably give it another shot. See what I can do.
They still make it. I'm vaping on it right now. In the world of Harm reduction that little bit of diacetyl is about 750x less than what you're getting in your stinkies.

yep. Capella Vanilla custard original + a few other ingredients happens to be my all day every day favorite. I do keep several other flavors loaded up and close at hand though because no matter how much one loves one particular flavor it does tend to get stale. I am in the "much ado has been made over maybe it might be detrimental to ones health" camp when it comes to a component in one of the flavorings and it is sad that so many folks may have been mislead. Just because someone won a lawsuit doesn't make it so. We each have to do what we feel comfortable with though.

OP: I wish I could help you with advice about what hardware to get but with the wide variety available I would hate to suggest something you wouldn't be happy with. My favorite mod right now is an eleaf istick 30 watt (I have 8 of them) with a GS-Air tank with 1.2Ω coil. I don't do direct lung hits with this setup but it is possible.

So I ordered a Kanger drip box just to have something to get started with again while I research hardware. I also ordered some VG, and a couple flavors. Going to try plain, and some low percent mixes see how I do. Excited to get back into it, and not die. Thanks everyone who gave advice. I appreciate you guys.

I think you made a solid choice. If you haven't used a drip box, you may have to get used to the way it works. Don't get discouraged if you have trouble with it and just do some googling for advice that's out there. Glad you feel good about it. You'll have to let us know how it's working for you.

Hey Stephen... BK here ( Kenner)

have you considered something like an RSST atty? I have 2 of them and had it leak only once ( forgot to put fill plug back in)..
Heathers has some pretty good juices, been using them for over 3 yrs now.
Ive been having some really great usage out of my IPV4 too... no issues ...

PM me, maybe we can get together and solve the issues..

It's not just juices though there are foods I can't eat that other people love that taste like soap to me. Cillantro is a prime example. Something weird with my taste buds.

I've seen comments like this from other people here. Some folks just can't handle flavored juice. They have to use very low amounts of flavoring or none at all. You could try filling a tank with unflavored VG, then adding a few drops of flavored juice directly to the tank.

Good luck.

As far as Tanks go; I have gone with Aspire Nautilus, both Mini for smaller Mods and the Full size for larger Mods. Both are reasonably priced, don't leak , and replacement heads allow you to tailor your Vape for how you'd like it along with widely available. Mountain Baker Vapes is one of the good places to pick up a variety of good reliable flavors that also have a variety of PG/VG Blends to once again tailor your Vape for how your body tolerates it.
For DIY juice there are some real gourmets on this site that can teach you how to just fine. Just take your time and read around. Many of us have done it just that way; too include myself. These folks here really know their stuff and explain it so you can too.
Patience along with ; Never Give Up; you're worth the effort.

@StephenMulkey Please take BK ^^ up on his offer. He is a great guy (can vouch for him, I have met him in person) and really knows his stuff when it comes to vape gear.

@Bunnykiller I was going to suggest this meetup. :) but didn't want to seem presumptuous. Thank you for offering!

I spent $100s on vapes. I had nothing but problems device after device failing on me constant leaks, devices would quit firing after a few months. I struggled to even find an ejuice I could tolerate. They all taste fake to me. I tried to make my own had failure after failure. I got so frustrated I gave up and went back to smoking cigarettes. I want to try again, but It's been a while now, and I don't know what's out there anymore. I preferred a DL hit, one of the few juices I remember actually enjoying was lazarus vintage trinity reserve. When it first came out, but I got inconsistent batches sometimes it didn't taste right, and it gunked up coils horribly. I've also enjoyed some vanilla custard flavors. Hope that gives an idea of the flavor profile I like. If there are good tanks out there with a RBA section that can take high VG juice that would be great as well any tips appreciated. I don't want to die. I really need to quit smoking. I feel it hurting my body.

You need to mix it up.

I find it's best to have 2 MTL tanks with different flavours I like and 2 sub ohm tanks with two flavours I like ready to vape at any time.

That way you don't get bored.

Plus make sure you have the right nic level to give you the nic buzz.

    ^^-- yes.

I also went back to smoking for over a year, although I think you got a little further on the first try.

I've never really tried to have an ADV, by the time anything about vaping could be described as "all day" I was carrying at least 2 devices with diff. flavors, for variety, backup and simply to spread the load. Also now like to drip for a constant flavor adventure. As to "they all taste fake", not sure you're looking at it right. While vapor flavors are no doubt inspired by foods and such, an exact copy of something is definitely not what I'm looking for. It should be much more intense and immersive than anything like that, and if that requires unfamiliar combinations such as tobacco ice cream so be it... Although I get that something could be completely abstract and still taste "fake" or not. Maybe that helps.

I don't know if Capella custard changed previously too, but you can still get the "version 1" some places. Several with sensitive constitutions and tastebuds have reported it's one of the few things they can tolerate. The current V1 custard contains Acetyl Proprionol and/or Acetoin. It is speculated that AProp is as bad as diacetyl but there is no evidence of problems actually occurring. Acetoin can break down into a small amount of diacetyl. Despite the scare, some have reported diacetyl is the least irritating butter note chemical to them.... anyway, I definitely use the V1 custard, got a bigger bottle since few carry it.

Hardware wise, the only things I can recommend is a basic RDA with a sensible build (e.g. 15 watts) and original EVODs and Protanks, maybe Nautilus and Subtank although haven't owned them. I've had terrible experiences with other tanks I've tried, may next be trying to see if temperature control (TC, yes we have that now) can solve the problem. Most disagree with me and many would find my stuff uninteresting and unsatisfying, of course.

    Good luck!
