Hello all. 35 yr smoker here, not sure if it's too late to clear my lungs, but I have a KR being delivered today. I've heard that a fresh cartomizor is equivalent to a pack of analogs, and wonder how close to the truth that claim is. Or, how many faithfull hits can I expect from a standard Boge cart before topping off. I have high hopes for this technology. thx

Welcome to ECF. I haven't used a KR so this is mainly a bump because your thread got buried a bit. As far as a carto lasting as long as a pack of cig's, it won't. For comparison a full 510 carto will give me the equivalent of about 5 analogs worth of vaping pleasure. I'm not sure if the KR8 cartos are the same size but hopefully someone will chime in with an answer before too long.
This is a great technology. I was a smoker for over 30 years myself and haven't had any desire to pick up an analog for over 6 months. Just get decent equipment and good tasting juice at the right strength and you'll do ok.

as the others have stated, a claim of a full pack, thats a bit exaggerated. Even so, you'll still save a ton of money in the long run. After the initial expense on equipment and juice experimentation is done and you find the combination of PV/atty/juice that works for you, its dirt cheap even if you only get 5 or 6 analogs per carto.

this is part of the problem with ecigs. Fly by night retailers are missleading possible converts which in turn turns many against for simple reason they don't like being lied to. I even had on retailer claim a cart would last as long as a carton of analogs. We all need to comunicate and get the crooks out of business. This is greatest invention in years, can not alow cons to distroy it for us. KEEP VAPING

I would say a carto is equal to 2-3 cigarettes max. I usually top them off every 10 minutes or so. I really like cartos but drip tips are a must imo.

I have found that the more often I top them off the longer they last. I can burn up a carto in a day if I'm on the road and not refilling enough. I've also used the same carto for 5 days when treating them like an atty and dripping every few minutes.

Oh, welcome to ecf ! Your gonna love having your lungs back!

It will depend on how big your puffs are, how many puffs make you satisfied, etc.

I think KR8 carto holds 1 ml. of eliquid. But you don't want to vape it all the way to dry because you might singe the stuffing or damage the atty so it's probably better to refill when vapor gets low. If your cartos have a soft cap (aka soft tip) on the mouth end then they should be refillable. Some say 4-13 times which is quite a range but it depends on how long the internal atty lasts and whether the stuffing gets singed. You could refill several each night and bring several with you.

I use the ce2 xl carts. They hold 1.8ml of juice and usually get me through a full day. If you are looking for something that will last almost as long as a pack of smokes without the hassle of refilling often, the ce2 xl's are a good choice. They can be a pain to refill, but I fill up 5 or 6 at a time and swap them out as needed.

Edit: Also with proper cleaning they can last quite a long time. I have several that have been refilled probably 50 times. Some people claim they taste airy and muddle the flavor, but with a menthol juice it shouldn't make much difference.

Hi joemag, welcome to ECF and the world of vaping!

I was a smoker for almost 27 years (1.5 PAD) and as soon as I got my 510 starter kit, I gave up analog cigarettes for good. Haven't looked back once. When I first ordered my kit and was waiting for it to get here, I never imagined anything on earth could replace smoking. I never expected an e-cig to do it - I just thought it might help me cut back. I was completely, and pleasantly, surprised. Now it's been almost a month that I've been smoke-free. No more coughing, no more wheezing, no more asthma inhaler (except every once in a great while). I can taste and smell better every day. E-cigs have *really* worked for me, and for my husband.

Its never too late to clear your lungs! I've read in many places that your lungs will start to regenerate within 24 hours. Ive also read somewhere that your lungs will be 100% within 7 years. I don't have any proof of that, but I have heard the 7 years statistic many times over the years.

Like others have said 1 carto = 1 pack is an exageration. A new full carto will hold approx 1ml which I would consider 5-8 analogs worth. You will find, if you get into vaping, that you may not vape in the same way you smoke. I find that I take less drags per session, but have much more frequent sessions. Rather than spending 5 minutes per cig break every 1-2 hours I might vape 3-5 drags every 15-20 minutes.

Another consideration is that carto capacity tends to deteriorate over time. As the filler ages its capacity to hold and wick fluid will diminish so keep that in mind as well.

I gave up on using carts as I find them to be problematic with getting consistant hits. Many people still use them and there are a plethora of cart mods (using fish tank filter foam instead of the polyfil for example) out there.

I've heard many great things about KR8 kits and I think you will like it. A lot of this hobby is really subjective and all about what you find that you prefer. There is a bit of a learning curve and you may find that, like many of us, it becomes a new addiction. There is a lot of different hardware and juices out there. You can read reviews and others opinions, but its hard to know what you will like unless you try it for yourself.

So jump on in! the water is fine. Welcome to ECF and please feel free to post as many questions as you need. It is certianly information overload when you first get started.

Although it is natural to want to compare smoking to vaping, you really can't. How many here vape the same way they smoked? I am guessing that the number will be close to zero. The average smoker will take about 7 - 10 puffs on a cigarette. To be honest, i have no idea how long a typical Carto will last as far as number of vapes. I know i take a lot more vapes than i took puffs, so a carto takes less time to empty than a pack does, but not necessarily fewer puffs.

joemag,
Glad to see you starting to vape instead of smoke those analogs.
I smoked for 48 years & after I got my KR808 I stopped period.
I do vape a little more but I feel better than I have in the last 10 years.
Doctor told me I had COPD in my right boiler, but I don't cough morning or night.
I breath better, have more stamina & don't smell like a analog any more.
My mouth feels clean all the time now & not like a trash can.

That 1 carto = to 1 pack is crazy. I was under that impression too when I first started, mainly due to all of the ads making it seem that way. I use a KR808 as well and I go though about 3 cartos a day, maybe 4 if Im using refills (Im a little light handed with the juice). Its no biggie really, whatever it takes to stay off analogs.

Five days smoke free.
Got my hands on a "Smoking everywhere Gold" that was supposedly non functional. Didn't work at all with a new carto, so I supposed it was a dead atty. After reading the forum a little more , I decided to drip the SE device on a freshly charged batt one last chance. Bingo, strong hit. Now I need a 901 to put on the 808 in order to drip. What a trip.

So in these five days, I've gone through 5 or 6 ml of 2.6 juice in order to quell the 25 a day analog habit. The 3 cartos I used were prefilled, so I guess I should add 3 more ml for a total of 9 ml tops. So erring on the lighter side, that would equate to about 1.75 ml of 2.6 juice to replace 25 or so analogs pr day. I do wonder if my nicotine intake has increased, because the transition has been fairly easy, considering.

Inane rambling done.

That is actually pretty light juice use. I was a pad Kool smoker, use 3ml of 24mg per day.
