Vaping frustrations

I'm glad to see the advances the industry has made in battery life in the last year or so. BUT, for me, it's cart life that is killing my interest. I typically smoke cigars and pipes and lately, I find myself smoking them again.

I'm tired of topping off every few drags and I can't stand the tasted of burned filler. I've tried every cart mod I've seen, and none of them really do it for me. I even gave 510 carto's a try and though better, they're still not quite what I'm looking for.

I saw the thread a few posts down about the REO and after watching a review about it on here, I realize I've overlooked these bottom-fed mods.

Are there others out there besides the REO? I think this type of mod would be the way to go, but I want to know all the options available before I make a purchase. I'm not quite ready to give up on vaping, but I have to find some sort of improvement if I'm going to keep at it.

Do a search on the Wetbox (Wet box?). My wife wants one of these. She hates refilling. The thing looks like a pretty well made mod, and it is built for 808 or 510 cartomizers. Give it a look.

Have you considered dripping at all?

I used carts for almost a full year, sharing almost all of the frustrations you listed plus leaky 510 carts, before I discovered the joys of dripping. I resisted for so long because it seemed like dripping would be too much of a hassle. I didn't like the idea of tailpiping my atty. And the thought of using an empty cart that I had to remove constantly to re-drip was a major turn-off. The key to me making the switch was the purchase of a dripping tip. A lot of vendors sell them these days, and they come in either stainless, aluminum, or plastic. They fit onto your atty like a cart, but the opening is wide enough to allow you to drip straight through without removing it.

Once I got my drip tip and started dripping, it was like a whole new world opened up for me. I can't imagine going back to carts. It's really a lot more convenient than using carts, which I had to constantly top off anyway. I just carry my device and a small (3ML plastic dropper bottle). It also improved the flavors of my liquids.

All of this is assuming, of course, that you're using a dripping-friendly PV. I don't believe automatic batteries are meant for it, for example.

I agree about dripping. I can't imagine using carts again, either. Love my delrin drip tips.

I'll put in my vote for dripping also. With my chuck it's relatively painless to pull out a little bottle and drip in three or four drops. I just use a stock 510 cart sans filler. It might be a bit more of a hassle with other PVs, but the Chuck stands on end so it's real easy.

I used to hate sitting around filing carts, refilling the small bottles is no big deal. I usually pocket two at this point- one with very low (2-4 mg) nic and one 24mg, just in case I feel I need full strength. Hardly ever go to the heavy bottle.

I'm with them - dripping is what I do since way back when lol. Its really not as fussy as you'd think once you get into it; takes me less than 3 seconds (yes I timed it) to drip, reattch empty cart (I use as mouthpiece) and vape.

Have you looked @ the E pipe, dse 601. I have only seen good reviews on this. hoping to get 1 for my BD.

I have tried dripping and to me, it's really not much different than topping off carts. I still have to get the bottle out, and drip every few drags. I know a lot of you love dripping, but it's just not worked for me. I still have to take time to stop whatever else I'm doing to drip.

I have considered the 601, but having to replace the whole bowl to replace the atty is not appealing to me. I have several 510 and 801 attys and I'd really like to be able to use those.

I actually have a design for a pipe that uses standard rechargeable batteries, and standard attys that are bottom fed. I just need to figure out how to make it.

Since you're not looking for a bunch of people telling you to drip, I'd recommend cartomizers. They hold more liquid than cartridges because of the all-in-one design, and if you keep them in your pocket or wherever as long as the mouth side is up the liquid will stay close to the atomizer and the filler won't burn.

However, I must say smoking was much more time consuming for me than dripping is.

I second that. I would try off the shelf cartomizers Before you try a mod.

I really don't find dripping that much more time-consuming than taking out a pack of cigarettes, removing one, getting out a lighter, and lighting up that death stick.

I can see it isn't working out for you, and that's cool, but I just wanted to point this out anyway. There are probably a few out there reading this who might be considering dripping but afraid it will be too much hassle and not even try it.

Well, dripping would be more like having to take out another cigarette and light it again every 4 or 5 drags... Once you have the cigarette out, you're kinda done until you're finished smoking it.

I think my frustrations come from being a cigar and pipe smoker. So I'm used to lighting either, and smoking away for 30 minutes minimum. If I need to re-light either, I don't even have to take them out of my mouth.

I like to smoke in my car most of the time, so I have been using cartomizers and they're the best solution I have found so far. But dripping isn't really a good option while I'm driving.

For me, I'm not vaping because I'm trying to quit smoking as much as I am trying to have a less dangerous means of doing something I enjoy. Like I said, I'm trying to make it work, just hoping I could find a way that involved a few less hassles.

Tried the Highping mod? Longest thread is in the "tips" section but also one in the "mod" section. Takes a bit of experamenting but it works.

You could give cartos a shot then - they need filling way less - but i don't THINK (apart from a bottom feeder juice box type mod which might be something that suits your needs) - that you'll find anything close to the pipe/cigar for long lasting convenience. Just gotta find a good reliable bottom feeder, I dont know much about those myself.

If you didn't want to mod or tinker at all, it sounds like buying a mod with integrated juice bottle would be most effective for you. There are several out (sadly most names slip my mind) but most are very good and quite effective at what they do. My best suggestion would be to make sure they take the atomizer you like, and that their form factor works for you.

If you aren't opposed to a little tinkering you could make yourself a topfeed juicebox that uses standard atomizers, even 5 volt if you wanted. Mine cost me under 10 dollars in parts and an hour or two total of tinkering and modifying..maybe a little more because I like to experiment way too much. Basically all it is is a 4xAA case with switches (master on/off and pushbutton switch) and a 3ml juice bottle with a tube running up into a drilled hole in an empty cartridge. It's basically an autodripper. ^_^ Check the mods section for schematics if you want. Feel free to PM me directly if you have any questions on it.
