Does this happen to anyone else?

The majority of smokers I've introduced to vaping have not switched to vaping - they just supplement their smoking habit with vaping! Using the PVs in the office (or elsewhere they can't smoke), but still going outside for their regular cig breaks. As far as I can tell, most of them haven't even cut down on their smoking. I feel like I've just made their nicotine addiction worse rather than helping them quite the cigs!

I've gotten a couple of full converts, but the others just refuse to give up the cigs. Kind of frustrating.

The people i have introduced also wished to quit smoking. But if people enjoy supplementing the smoking habit with some vaping; why not? Maybe they will switch some day, maybe not. I find it's hard to justify this habit without also believing in others peoples freedom of choice... After all, there are plenty of people all over the world trying to outlaw vaping. :)

I have introduced many many many smokers I know to Vaping, thus far Other than those in my houshold, none of them that I know of has completely made the switch to Vaping without analogs. One is really really trying and he really needs to if for no other reason than to get his finances in order. The bottm line is that Nicotine itself is NOT the only addictive substance in Analog Cigarettes. There are Numerous other chemicals and additives in tobacco cigarettes that MAKE them more addictive. That is not a "Conspiracy Theory Statement" That is a truth that has been known for decades. The bottom line is all you can do is show your approval when they vape and try not to show too much dissaproval when they smoke. The more pressure they feel about smoking the more likely they are to continue. I always ask my friends at work now if they want to go out to the Vaping area rather than the smoking area because Vaping even is not allowed in my office at work.

Just keep up the good fight and try not to get discouraged;

Yes, very frustrated as well. You can only do so much but I just don't understand why they seem to prefer smoking to vaping. I want to add that all of these people approached me and asked me about it, asked me to help them order. They all tried my pvs. Gave them an opportunity to try KR808s, 510s, egos.

They all seemed really enthusiastic at first and most haven't really stuck with it. None of them read or post here if that means anything. But I do think the board is a big support factor.

So yea, I'm frustrated and a little baffled by it.

I introduced my mother to vaping and I'm seeing the same thing!

I have tried actively with 2 smokers i know. Neither has switched. The only one who actually was really eager to buy one was my mother in law who doesnt even smoke but thought it was cool!! She went to a smoke shop and tried it there and liked it but I talked her out of doing it so she ended buying a Nook instead lol.

The first couple of people I got into vaping took to it just like me, quit analogs right away and never looked back. I was pumped, man is this easy.....WELL no, everyone else since is either vaping with cig or didn't take to it at all.

The way I look at is all I can do is inform and give the best information I can to get them started which is better than them learning about it from a salesman at a mall kiosk.

the two people i've given much effort at are my fiance and step mother, my fiance is on the patch trying to quit now, didn't care for vaping but may use some 0mg every once in awhile now that she's off analogs.

and my stepmother uses it as a substitute so far. she may end up switching i dunno. i even bought her a nice kr808 starter kit lol

I converted a guy from work we were IM-ing and I told him thats how I quit smoking and he said he should look into it I told him I'd send him one of my old kits, I sent him my ego kit a couple of attys, a 5 pack of cartos and about 200ml of misc juice left over from my must try every juice from every vendor phase he said he wasn't really looking to quit and he just happened to stop smoking and started vaping I was suprised that he took to it so fast now my brother on the other hand I gave him 2 different kits and a box mod and he would rather struggle with chantix than to vape he would only use it at work so he wouldn't have to go out side in the winter. so not eveybody will be open to it

I think that for most people there still has to be some sort of a support system...whether it's for smoking or for vaping. I converted my best friend, and she is still vaping, but mostly because she is around me all the time, and I am her support system. When she goes to work and is around other smokers, or when she has problems with her equipment, then she smokes. She doesn't use the internet. On the other hand, I rely on ECF. :) If they can get involved here or find other vapers elsewhere, I think people have a better chance of becoming full-time vapers. JMHO.

I've only had two takers, and both of them fell off the vape-wagon. One is notoriously bad at dealing with anything that requires maintainance, the other I don't know, I loaned him some ego batts and atties and liquid, he liked it enough to buy some of his own hardware, but lately I only ever see him smoking.

I think the forum does help a lot, I am also very much into research when something captures me, so I have ready answers when people question what I'm doing. I guess if you just buy the stuff but remain ignorant of how it works, peer pressure probably has a better chance of undermining your efforts.

A lot of people show interest around me, but once I direct them here, they are overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information (though I insist that they understand that the better informed they are, the greater their chance of success).

I honestly don't know how to help people who prefer ignorance.

She says i was using the ecig before . I say you gotta use it all the time . She says i do . I then go and check the ecig and im like ,your such a liar . She says how do you know . Then im like because i filled this carto for you a week and a half ago and it still has flavor and your battery still has plenty of power . lol

I'm proud to claim that I'm responsible for two acquaintances vaping. BUT, if I had not 'held their hands'... pffffft! I've been queried many, many times as to my vaping. Thus far, my battin' average is well below the Mendoza line...

All we can do is to vape and press on! Hopefully we can free the 'bakky chained one at a time.

I've been frustrated by this, as well, but the other thing we need to realize is that vaping does take some work and quite a bit of research. Some people are just lazy and don't want to put the effort into it. Also, it's much easier to drive/walk down to the closest convenience store and buy a pack of smokes. With vaping, you have to think ahead and get your supplies online, unless you're lucky enough to have a vape shop nearby.

I'm an info junkie. I love to research. I'm also a do-it-yourselfer, so I don't mind modifying or tweaking equipment to get the experience I'm looking for. Not everyone else wants to put the time or effort into it.

Slowly, as vaping becomes more prevalent in our society and as equipment advances and shops start to pop up, people will be more likely to switch over to vaping. That's what I believe, anyway.

Very true . Not everyone is as smart as us ECF'ers .

You guys think that's bad? I was converted by 2 guys at work. One of them was fired the day before my eGo arrived. The other vaped occasionally for a few weeks and has since gone back to analogs full time as far as I can tell. My wife claims any combination of PG/VG at different nic levels makes her cough. I gave my mother in law an eGo kit that she used occasionally for a few weeks but has since let collect dust.

In all honesty, vaping is a hassle most people don't want to deal with. If not for ECF to help me out with equipment problems and other issues, I doubt I'd still be vaping.

Phiesty nailed it. I have struggled with many who just can't make the switch. The answer is right there in their hand but they can not break free. I have 5 at work that do this. I have made them juice ---- High nic, low nic whatever even made "taste like ..." (steeped a couple of marb lights for a week) juice for one guy who said he just likes the flavor of cigs. In the end it is that PV's are too much bother for them and it is easier just to put bic lighter to cig. I always hated the reformed smoker who preaches, so I have showed them the way and will leave them to their own choices. Happy vapes
