Vaping has been working great, no analogs in 75 days but I'm starting to get a little frustrated and have a few questions..

Hey all, I haven't smoked a cigarette since the the day my Joye 510 kit arrived in the mail. Everything has been working great with the 510 until now.

When I'm at home I like to use an atomizer and drip, During the first month or 2 I'd get big, solid hits doing that until recently it started to fade giving me weak hits where I'd barely see any vapor blown out. I figured it was time for a new atomizer.

I ordered 510-ATT-TRE Three Joye 510/eGo Spare Atomizers in hoped of fixing it but no luck so far. It almost seems worse than my original atomizer. So I'm wondering if there's anything I need to do to "prep" a new atomizer or if the ones I bought are just no good.

I also noticed my batteries are starting to have a very short life (10-20) long puffs then I have to swap and sometimes only 10 minutes. Do I need to order new batteries?

Another thought I had is maybe I've just grown into vaping more and now I'm craving more of a throat hit/bigger hits. Maybe it's time for an upgrade, any recommendations?

I know I've asked a lot of questions but I'd appreciated any helpful answers :)

Yep, or a good solid cleaning :)

How are they 'no good'? Do you mean poor vapor and TH? If so, I don't think it's the atomizers. If they're DOA, dead on arrival, contact the vendor to see if you can make an exchange. Also, what resistance attys are you using? This will go along with the next question, but, I think it's time for an upgrade :)

You can get a much better battery life out of an eGo or Riva style battery. They're of course not as sleek as the standard 510s, but, I would imagine you're looking for something better in the lines of productivity over appealing looks? ;)

Rather than recommend a super duper expensive crazy mod, I will recommend a simple 5v box mod :)

If you have some soldering skills, you can order a cheap kit from Madvapes and if not, you can purchase a pre-assembled one from GodZilla here in the forums, re-named as FoxyBoxMod. A 5v with a standard or high resistance atomizer might be that extra kick you're looking for.

Or, perhaps an eGo/Riva battery with a low resistance atomizer to mimick the high voltage of 5v? Low resistance such as 1.5ohm-2.0ohm.

They work, its just poor vapor. My cartomizers much stronger, this wasn't the case when I was dripping using the atomizer that came with my starter kit. I think I've read somewhere about 'priming' a new atty, that's why I was wondering if there was something I needed to do to the new ones I purchased. These are the attys I purchased.

When purchasing my first PV I wanted something that looked more like a normal analog, Now I'd much rather have something that works well. :) Can I purchase and ego or Riva battery without having to buy a whole kit and still use my cartos and attys? And which would you recommend out of the 2?

I don't really like the idea of having to do customizations myself, I'd rather have something that works well right out of the box.

And thanks for your response!

Two things I can think of. Most attys come with primer on them, and you generally have to blow them out, add a couple of drops and hit it (repeat) until the nasty taste is gone.

And two, it takes a day or so of consistent vaping to really break an atty in or rather, when it's in its prime.

The attys in the link don't say their resistance (you should always know the resistance of something you're purchasing :) ), but I would assume they are standard (2.3-2.8ohms). If they do work, just not well, I would try a new battery with them before tossing them. It sounds like perhaps they're just not getting enough juice. (Edit: By Juice, I mean power, not actual liquid :) )

Either really :) They're pretty much the same exact thing, though the Riva is generally cheaper. I personally own 3 eGo batteries and they work just fine. You can purchase them individually from a number of places. I personally bought mine from Liberty Flights E-Liquid and Electronic Cigarette Shop - Category Listings If you order from them, make sure to click the 20% off banner in the top left hand corner before adding stuff to the cart ;) Plus, for every product you by and review, you get $.49 credit towards the next purchase.

I don't really like the idea of having to do customizations myself, I'd rather have something that works well right out of the box.

Personally, had I known then what I do today, I would've skipped the eGo and went straight to a 5v boxmod. But, this doesn't mean that's what is good for you, personally. You can purchase one battery and a charger to try it out (though, I would say to at least buy 2 batteries just in case you really like them and don't want to wait for another in the mail).

Finding your perfect vape is tough and can be cost consuming. Do some research on what you think might be ideal. If your 510 was working fine for you before it started decreasing in life, maybe an eGo/Riva style battery is perfect for you. If the 510 was good, but could be a little better, try the eGo/Riva with low resistance atomizers. If it wasn't really working at all, then perhaps it's time to step it up, 5v style :D

Personally, I recommend a variable voltage box mod over a fixed voltage. This will give you different voltages for different juices and atomizers/cartomizers. Madvapes.com has a nice little vv box mod.

If you aren't into that then I suggest either an eGo or Riva kit from libery-flights.com and while you're there, get a box of Boge cartomizers, a drip tip, and a couple extra atomizers. You may also want to try the dual coil cartomizers also.

Will I need to buy a charger or will my 510 charger work? I'd hate to have my Ego arrive in the mail and not be able to use it because I can't charge it.

The one you linked is a 1000 mah passthrough. Good choice. It comes with a cord that you use to charge it. You unscrew the endcap on the bottom (farthest away from where you would have a cartomizer or whatever) and plug the cord in there. The other end of the cord plugs into a USB port on a computer. You can still vape while it's on the charger, which is nice.

Some people don't like to charge their battery through their computer, because they feel it might put more power through the USB port than that port is really designed to handle. You can get an item that plugs into a standard wall socket and has nothing else but a USB outlet and use that.

Example
JOYE HOME CHARGER USB (NO CABLE)

There is a good chance you already have one of these. A lot of PV battery chargers come with a very short charging cord designed to plug into a USB port, and one of these, so your old battery charger might have that kind of thing.

You can also buy things that plug into a cigarette lighter in your car and output to a USB port for charging on the road, if that would help you.

I wouldn't try using your regular old battery charger to your new PT battery. It might work, for all I know, but it would make me very nervous, and I'm pretty sure you don't need to do that. But if your old charger is a box that plugs in, outputs USB, and has a six inch cord that you screw the battery into (that's how mine works) then just unplug the cord and use the adapter.

All great posts above me here. Like was mentioned, power might be your issue along with needing to break in the atty. I use high resistance atomizers and I'm still breaking in the 3 I got 2 weeks ago. Like with other rechargeable batteries a few months and they will need to be replaced as they don't hold the same charge or amount as when fresh. Luckily Ego's aren't terribly expensive :)
