Vaping in public?

I went to walmart last night and stepped out of my car vaping and a woman with her teenaged daughter stopped dead in their tracks and stared at me like I had six heads and was trying to eat my face. I expected to get stares, but GEEZE. I head her say "WHAT is she DOING?". Unfortunately I left something in my car and had to walk past them about three times while they stared at me gaping. But I didn't know how to handle it so I just ignored her and walked into the store.

I really wasn't expecting it to be THAT shocking! I figured most people have at least HEARD of them, and when they'd see it, they'd make the connection and go "Oh, thats what that thing is."

What do you do in situations like that? I didn't expect my first time vaping in public to be so.. dramatic haha.

That is a very unusual situation. I would have just ignored it as you did. I only discuss vaping with those people that show an interest or ask a question.

Well mine has a blue light haha. So i obviously wasn't smoking. I'm just hoping not everyone in my town will look at me like that. I'd be more than happy to discuss it with someone who seems interested though.

Not had anything quite so drastic but I have had a few times when I've seen that "What is that?" look on someones face so I just hold the e-cig in my hand so they can see it and tell them "It's an electronic cigerette". That's when they all start asking lots of questions which so far I've gladly answered for them as so far not one person I've run into has ever seen one before and most have been very interested in hearing more about them. In fact on several occasions I've run into the person I had explained to earlier when they're in a different place with different people and they've asked me to show my e-cig to other people and demonstrate and tell them about the e-cig. So far all good reactions from everyone.

Maybe I should of showed it to her and explained what it was then.. It just caught me so much by surprise lol.

Wow what an experience. I have not gotten one for myself yet but really want one soon. I drive my kids to and from school everyday, no I don't smoke in the car with them, but once I start vaping I might. I can just imagine the looks I'll get from other partents that may see me now.
