Firstly, what is a mouth breather?! I've heard this expression before from the evil ex boyfriend who told me a was one but i thought i was just breathing...im sure i asked if he would prefer it if i just stopped this reflex action keeping me alive- or i hope i did! I don't feel i breathe as well or as deeply through my nose...although really i thought i just breathed...

Im gonna try the cracking the window thing... We get pretty cold temperatures though...usually in the -°C...better be a bit chillier and be able to see! I always avoided the window for petrol consumption, noise and heat but its better than going back to stinkies!x

Yeah, ok, I've just tried sitting here and breathing only through my nose and i feel really tight-chested and very nasally constricted! I think when i see my doc in January im gonna ask about this...i could have blamed breathing difficulties on smoking but not anymore! At least i know im not asthmatic! Who the heck knew there was a right and wrong way to complete an unconscious reflex action! When they intubate they go through the mouth... I just wanted to know how to use my pv in the car better and now im freaking out that i don't breathe properly! Lol!

I know this is a really dumb question but when i use my pv, i suck it into my mouth then inhale with my mouth and exhale out of my nose or mouth depending on how much vapour/flavour i want...am i doing that wrong?!x

It depens on the people. I've never understood those who first take the smoke into mouth because you wont get ENOUGH smoke then.
I inhale directly into lungs and take about 5-8 seconds long inhales. Then hold it littlebit and exhale very slowly with open mouth to get a big "cloud".

And about ordinary breathing. Normaly people breathe with theyr mouths closed all the time...
Unless they are e.g. running or have "wet nose".

I'm like you rachy_b, I always breath with just my mouth (a mouth breather!)
It's not a big deal, it's what ever works for you.

Same with vaping, I inhale all to the mouth 1st, then lungs (sometimes I skip lungs, as nicitine can absorb thru the mouth while vaping, while smoking needs the lungs, or something like that) then exhale mouth nose whatever! :)

So, relax your not alone in your weird ways of breathing. :vapor:

So i was smoking wrong too?!?! Omg, that's it...my mind is blown!!! 11.5 years and nobody told me i was doing it wrong!!!!

Worse, 26.5years and 3 days of life and im not breathing normally! Seriously, im having some sort of existential crisis here! This is weird! Lol! I never thought it mattered unless you weren't getting air to your lungs! Maybe i do breathe normally and i just don't notice...i thought focussing on the breath was a meditative technique for relxation but this is making my mind go funny! Im thinking about this way too much...x

Actually the nic from vapor is mostly absorbed through the mucus membranes effectively. The mouth and nasal passages are where the most nic enters the bloodstream the quickest. If my lungs start to get the heavy feeling from vaping too much, I switch vaping techniques and just hold in mouth and release or French inhale lightly then blow out. I play around with different ways to vape. There really is no wrong or right way, just whatever works for you. It's all about getting the nic. :D

LOL I was posting the same time you were! don't over think it!!! :D ;)

Ah , dont over-think or panic it - just calm down.
It doesnt matter how you smoke - do it as you like. Its just weird for me that there are some people who dont directly inhale into lungs because i even dont know anyone like that.

Tho its more "mannerly" if people keep their mouth closed when breathing/eating/etc.

You can check your coefficient drag for your specific year make and model of vehicle on-line. I think the AC is going to cut into your gas-mileage a lot harder than the drag from a window, especially in a smaller engine car. Also, some cars are designed to have one or another window open with no problem, like the Honda Accord from 2002. You could always switch to VW.... That solves everything, hehe.

I don't think there's an improper way to breath... whatever keeps you alive. However, if one hyperventilates to the point of dizziness or passing out I guess that could be deemed "improper" and a paper bag usually takes care of it. Four people in a closed car at minus degrees creates a lot of vapor so maybe no one should breath?
