there are obligate social situations in life that tests one's patience. more often than not these tests are held in claustrophobic settings, with many other people, for indefinite periods of time. it really blows, but it has to happen.
fortunately i discovered edmonton's u of a hospital allows vaping, no problem. they're also giving patients little pvs.
i don't deal with being in hospitals well, and i was there for 9 hrs (everyone is fine). vaping definitely made it more tolerable.
anyone else have similar experiences in canada? you see this pop up on ecf all the time, but i'm not sure i've read about it in this forum very much.

That's brilliant ! I'm pretty sure I've half stealth vaped down a hallway many times waiting outside of emerge in the past and no one complained, but there weren't many people around at that ungodly hour. Next time I'm in a hospital (ugh) I'll try to ask a few people working there. A month or so ago when my friend was in the hospital, I noticed they were giving out nicorette inhalers now as well as gum, but no pvs. :(

Random trivia: Propylene glycol is or at least has been used as a carrier for asthma and other inhalant medication and for disinfectant through the ventilation in hospitals.

Sat in one of our local Toronto hospitals last week for a few hours.
In front of a security office and a main information desk without issue.
Mind you I wasn't puffing out big plumes as I like to exhale fast and low
so as not to draw unnecessary attention to myself, when in a place like that.

Some folks watched me but none said a word to me 'bout it.

I'm going to be back there again tomorrow, hopefully I'll be drinking my Timmies
and vaping without any issues once more.

Well I've certainly had my share of hospitals in the past 1.5 mths. Mainly waiting for hours and hours in emerg for many days and recently for some scans. Vaped each and every time, but also like Hitmetwice I mainly stealthed, depending on who was around.

As long as there isn't a strong smell, most people just don't pay attention. I have to be admitted in the next day or two for some surgery. All I can say is that vaping saved my sanity, especially when stuck in emerg for 5-6 hrs. and unable leave.

I work in a hospital here in BC. It's a little different for me. I started vaping with a DSE801 and was told that I had to go outside with the smokers way off the property. The reason is that they claim it looks too much like the real thing and passersby may think I'm actually smoking. If I and the real smokers get caught smoking on the property, we get 3 warnings and then receive a pink slip.

Now I've started on the Ego. Not taking any chances but do cheat in the bathroom and elevators at times. Anyone using those after I've been there doesn't even notice as no one has said anything.

Meanwhile those who visit the hospital just smoke outside while we workers have to get off the property. Doesn't make any sense to me.

Some debate here in Calgary whether I as a patient am even allowed electronic cigarettes while in hospital. There is a rule here NO ELECTRONICS in patient rooms as they may interfere with medical equipment. However, this is above my head, but I did research that said electronic cigarettes DO NOT interfere with hospital monitors and machines as can cell phones and portable music makers. The article compared pv's to electric toothbrushes and said there was little risk, if any, to either the hospital machinery. Or the patient.
)
However, if I do succeed in getting permission to vape, it would be outdoors, with other smokers, (which means off hospital property including parking lots) and the recharging of batteries would all have to be done at the nursing desk. Not in the room.

[Grumble, grumble, gripe, gripe :(

I live by the rule that it is easier to get forgiveness then to get permission. I have stealth vaped in Calgary hospitals. Never been caught so no prob. I also hate the electronics rule, I just ignore it as the doctors and nurses do and no one says anything to me. I will play on my iPad or iPhone in open view. These are just my opinions, and rules are made to be broken.

Happy vaping

Ps sorry side note as well my wife's friend is a cardiac nurse and told me that it is not enforced anymore because all equipment is shielded against interference now.
