Vaping isn't just about quitting smoking, is it?

For me its much more than a hobby and much more than smoking ever was... Of course it replaced smoking... But i find i enjoy vaping more... I look forward to checking the mailbox, i get excited when i see a mailtruck (angry when its not on my street)
And i get something to think about all day... New juice recipes and coil designs...
And i can kick back and relax with a vape when i watch a movie, it doesnt annoy me like the smoke from cigarettes did

I started vaping in March and I'll never let it become a hobby. My eGo batteries and Protank are enough for me.

Well I needed my Vamo so I wouldn't have to worry about the resistance of the replacement heads and then of course I had to get a SID as a backup and an SVD because the local B&M had a good deal on them.

And having a VV/VW MOD's I had to try my hand at rebulidables so I picked up an RSST. And then a Cobra clone to see what the differences are.

I'm thinking of getting a Magneto and Kayfun lite plus next.

But I won't let it become a Hobby. :D

People tend not to understand what they have not experienced. Much easier for YOU to accept that they don't understand and let it go.

Besides...it's not necessary for them to understand. If they were interested in vaping they would discover these things for themselves. What matters is YOU understand and enjoy what YOU've discovered.

Since I've finally lost my craving for even a single cigarette, and through talking to lots of smokers / non-vapers, something is becoming evidently clear to me. Vaping is so much more than just giving up cigarettes.

I have a hard time explaining to my non-vaping friends (smokers and non-smokers) why I spend the amount of money I do on different liquids, devices, batteries, wicks and coils, and everything else. They always tell me, "you don't need to spend that much money to give up smoking!" But it's about so much more than that, isn't it? Yes, vaping has been a more-than-adequate replacement of cigarettes for me – but it's so enjoyable to me, it's become a hobby. I love trying out new things in the world of vaping. My friends seem to misunderstand how this is also a hobby, not just a way to 'switch from smoking'.

Aside from the fact vaping creates something that looks like smoke, and most people start vaping from the desire to give up smoking, there aren't many similarities at all between smoking and vaping. Vaping let's us create the perfect experience for us, through the infinite number of combinations of liquids, devices, atomisers, etc. which is exciting! It just also happens to be the greatest way to part with cigarettes, too.

Does anyone else have trouble trying to get this across to non-vapers? It seems impossible to convince people that vaping isn't just about quitting smoking – it's a whole world to explore. I didn't even want to give up smoking, if I'm honest – even for health. I wasn't bothered, because I'm 24 and always told myself I'll give up by 30 and my health will mostly return to normal. Vaping is simply better in every way – it isn't just for giving up cigarettes!

I'd love to hear from others who get involved in these types of conversations with people they know who don't vape. What are good ways of explaining the joys of vaping to someone who doesn't quite get it?

If you need a good reason to give someone, just tell them is like the difference between drinking at a old smelly bar or wine tasting fine wines at a vineyard/winery.

Kind of the same, but completely different.

My wife got me a Magneto for Christmas :thumb:, we always wait until after Christmas to get each-other gifts to take advantage of the sales.

But it's not a hobby, it's not a hobby. Maybe if I say it enough times I'll believe it.

It actually isn't a hobby for me. Every purchase I've made was out of necessity. The generic ego I started with wouldn't last the long haul, so I had to get an iTaste VV v3 and a Mini Protank II. Then, hubby stole that so I had to get an MVP 2. Then, the generic ego started falling apart and I needed a new back up, so I ordered another VV v3. Then, hubby started eyeing the MVP 2 so I had to order another MVP 2. Throughout all of this, each lliquid I got needed its own clearo, so I kept buying clearos. Plus, I'm still finding my ideal one, so I need to keep trying. Hubby only uses the mini protanks, so each time I ordered I got him a new one so he'd leave mine alone. Oh, and it's got to be quality liquid, or cigs may start looking good again, so I get Pink Spot , Allpha and The Standard and Prime Vaping. Since I'm still trying to find my ideal topper, I couldn't leave carto tanks out. As glass is best, may as well get glass with custom paint jobs. These tanks need drip tips, so let's get a bunch of those (tiny little things could get lost easy). Of course, these devices are disposable, do a Provari may be necessary soon... If carto tanks don't work out, I'll just have to get a rebuildable as well. Everything is a must. Everything

People that believe smoking is evil will rarely ever be able to understand how vaping could ever be enjoyable because most of them equate vaping to be either the same as smoking or simply a method of smoking cessation that one does for only a short time and is finished with. I don't waste my time trying to convince those people of the joys of vaping that many people enjoy.

I do try to educate those people that vaping is NOT the same as smoking by exposing all the lies they are being told and instead giving them real facts about vaping and the differences from smoking. After that all I can do is hope that something I've said makes them give a second thought to all the lies they hear and read about vaping every day and helps them accept that vaping deserves to be recognized as a life saving alternative to smoking.

I think for people who have smoked hookah and enjoy that activity, they get it easier. Hookah has always been about sitting down with friends, trying out extremely clean, crazy flavors, and enjoying it because of the cleanliness of the smoke and even the somewhat "silly" feeling that the nicotine in hookah can give, as opposed to the downtrodden, nasty feeling of cigarettes.

To me, vaping is a hobby in the same way. I am using it to quit cigarettes completely, but after that, it becomes a hobby, and it's something I want to share with people. And the neat thing about vaping, is that you can use different things to get different people in it. For those who enjoy the effects of certain medical herbs, you can load up an atomizer with a juice that's smooth yet contains a lot of nicotine, and really just knock them off their couch with the physical and mental effect. For those who would rather just have a clean, tasty experience, load up a juice that really tastes magical and see how they study it.
