:hubba: This forum has been a life-saver for me. I am new to the forum and analog free for 1 month. I was a 39 year very heavy smoker and stopped analogs the first day of vaping. I am encouraging my husband a 40 year smoker to try vaping. He heavily smokes Camel non-filters and I need help as to what type of liquid and e-cig to initially start him on. Need something tobacco like and strong throat hit!

Rule of Thumb: the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the performance. IMO I would avoid all auto switch PV's such as the 901, 801, 4081, Blu, Smoke Everywhere, 401, 402, etc, etc. Get a manual switch PV. The manual 510 is the only one that looks similar to the real thing and is well liked on this forum. The only draw back is the short battery life (2-3 hours) and the cost of the batteries ($13-$20). The premier PV's cost more initially, but get up to 8 hours battery life on a charge, have consistent, good throat hit, have batteries that cost $2 and you can get the batteries from battery companies instead of PV suppliers. Over the long run, they pay for themselves with the inexpensive batteries. I would also suggest getting higher nicotine strength liquid (24mg-36mg) to start out with. Forget the prefilled carts. Get extra atomizers also. Since you want a PV with the best, strongest throat hit for your husband, from your posts, here are the ones I would recommend:

The Big Five in Long Battery Life Manual Switch PV’s:

Screwdriver: ecigscrewdriver.com
The Black Screwdriver Kit / Totally Wicked eLiquid / Electronic Cigarette e-liquid shop
Prodigy: PureSmoker.com - Home of the USA Built PV !!!
GG: THE GG
JantyStick: Janty USA
LV/ZiMoshi: Zi Moshi Home

510:

e-Smokey Treats - Electronic Cigarette's, The healthy alternative to traditional tobacco cigarette's
Rocky Mountain Vapor you have reached the mountain top of electronic cigarettes! : Home
RUYAN Brown e-cigar with 25pc Cartridges - RUYAN e-cigar kit - Heaven-gifts.com Ruyandirect.com Best E-smoking Shop

Non-filter? 8-o

And for the second time ever, I'm going to depart from my usual advice to a newbie and recommend a high voltage e-cig (often referred to as a "mod").

I have a Screwdriver, and I think it's a wonderful piece of equipment. At 3.7 volts, it packs a very powerful punch. I also have a GG (6 volts), and the biggest difference I see between that and my SD (aside from aesthetics) using the same atomizer (901) is with the SD, I have to depress the switch for longer (say 5-6 seconds) to get the same strength of a "hit" as I do with the GG at only 2-3 seconds. Honestly, though, I haven't had my GG long enough to really weigh in effectively in terms of comparing the really high voltage mods (e.g., Prodigy and GG) with something a bit more modest (like the Screwdriver or JantyStick).

In any event, look at wv2win's list and start doing some research from there.

But these are pretty big expenses . . . I'm wondering if maybe you could edit your profile to show your location. There might be a kind soul living near you who'd be willing to meet you somewhere to let y'all play with some more heavy-duty equipment.

For those in the St. Louis area, I always have a standing offer--Starbucks in Wildwood . . . you buy the coffee and I let you play with my toys. :D

I love my m401 so far and am slowly making the switch over. The only issue I could see is vaping in the wind or in the car with the windows down. the 401 has great throat hit, great vapor and once you get the hang of it is pretty sweet.

But, as far as matching Camel flavor the best I've found so far is the Turkish Blended from Ruyan. It's my "everyday" flavor.

I do a little coffee, vanilla or mint from time to time when I want a change. And I have a 20 pack sampler coming in the mail hopefully today with a whole bunch of other flavors.

Thanks for the great advise JustJulie - and as a co-incidence - I am in the same town as you, HorseMaster, and do have a couple different high-powered mods - (the Janty Stick and the Prodigy) and I'd love to show them off...

If you would be interested, PM me..

And this is why it pays to put your location in your profile, folks. :)

Seriously, this forum is filled with so many wonderful, generous folks who are willing to go out of their way to help others.

When I use my 510 and Camel flavored juice (from e-smokeytreats) it almost tastes & hits like a Camel.. not non filter but a regular or wide... but of course without the burnt smokey taste (hard to explain lol) its good and I doubt he'd be disappointed if you went that route.
