So I've been having a hard time finding atomizers for my Aerotank 2. Lately I can't get them at the local shops and on-line is hit or miss if I get the right ones.

Last night I went to a local shop and they didn't have any so I said screw it I'll get a new tank. I was sold the Aspire Atlantis Evo. Didn't realize till I got home and set it up that it was a sub-ohm tank and not what I've been used to.

The default coil was a .4 and it just tasted awful so I switched it out for the .5 replacement that was in the box.

Here are my issues and how I need help:

1) I feel like I usually smoke Marlboro lights and I just lit up a camel non-filter when I take a hit. It's just harsh.
2) I have the 40w eleaf, and am used to vaping between 9-13w. With this new set up you have to have it at least 20w (I did some research and it seems people usually use around 30w with this setup)
3) My juice tastes horrible. I've been using the same juice for 5 years and have just been moving down in nicotine. I mix 2 different flavors and am down to 5mg or one flavor and 0mg or the other so my nicotine is at about 2.5mg.
4) I don't care one bit about 'big clouds o vape' What's important to me is the throat hit like I had when I smoked.

Does anyone have any suggestions to make this work for me or do I just need to buy something else?

Thanks!

Thats strange. I use two of those tanks, one with .4 coil @ 30 watts and the .5 @ 24 - 27 watts. Using them on Joyetech mods and a HCigar VT75 nano mod. No problems with them. Just set up a buddy of mine with the Joyetech Basic and EVO tank. He loves it. He only vaped on Ego's, so this was a nice step up into the sub ohm world. He said " thats what I'm talk'in about " after he took a few vapes.....lol

It could be too harsh because your nic level is too high at that power range. I vape 6mg at 10-13 watts but I drop down to 3mg in my EVO's at 35 watts.

And I'll double check this tomorrow morning, but I'm 99% sure that Triton 1.8 coils will fit the EVO. If so, you could always start putting them in and keep your airflow closed so it's a lot closer to a MtL tank, with the added benefit of a large 4ml capacity (assuming you bought the extended version).

Thank you all so much! @Who_Dey_1991 actually got me on the right track of what I was doing wrong when they mentioned MTL. It occurred to me that I was taking MTL hits on this and maybe I am actually supposed to be taking direct lung hits.

What a difference! Seriously. Wow. It took me a couple hits to remember how to take a direct hit, since I haven't done so since 2011, but once I got the hang of it, I now get what the fuss is about.

It's so weird how I can actually taste the flavor in my throat after I blow out. I also find it odd that it is such a different experience between the two. Anyone know why it tastes terrible if I do MTL, but when I do a direct hit it tastes great?

Thank you all for responding to my post.

Well just like what AzPlumber said, when you try MtL with the power that high, there's not enough airflow to cool the coil after it heats up. So you're basically getting super hot vapor.

It took me a while to get used to also. But I find MtL and DL both have their pros and cons with me, so I do both.
