Hey all I wanted to introduce myself. I'm Tom and I have been smoking for <cough, cough> 23 years now. I just placed my order for myself and my girlfriend for 2 of the tornadoes from TW, I got the flavor so she can have her menthols and the extra carts for her, ( I will end up smoking her regulars that come with the package).
I just wanted to introduce myself and kinda get a start on what should be the last couple of days of analogs in my life :)

Ty to everyone so much for all the info I have already found on here and I hope I can be a decent contributor in the near future..

Welcome to vaping, it's truely a life changer/saver.

Good choice on the Tornado.

Start looking for some Ejuice NOW. That cartridges that come with the kits will not last very long. Nothing worse than running out of juice and having to go back to regular cigarettes (analogs).
Click the "Forum Suppliers" link above for a list of vendors that have been found to be reputable by the ECF forum.

Also, try not to EXPECT to quit analogs completely at first. That will be setting yourself up for dissapointment. Plan more on just cutting back.
That will make it an easier transition.
And don't feel bad/guilty if you do have an analog once in a while.
Try to focus on how many analogs you've avoided, instead of how many you have smoked.
Not everyone can switch to vaping instantly (but many do).

I used this thought process which worked great and I managed to switch instantly.
"I'm not quitting, I'm just switching brands. And hey, my new brand doesn't cause cancer"

That worked great for me.

Good luck, and enjoy vaping.

Welcome to ECF and the world of vaping! You made a great choice in PV's and I think you and your girlfriends will be very happy with your choice :) Make sure you get extra juice to refill your carts with, you don't wanna run out of that for sure. I have the eGo and Riva which is the same thing as the Tornado and I love mine! I've had them for months now and couldn't be happier! Just take your time, frustrations will arise but it all works out. You don't have to quite smoking right away, some do and some don't but don't feel like a failure if you don't quite right away, it will come in time. I've been vaping for 6 months, today, and I still have an occational smoke and I don't like when I do cause they are so nasty tasting and smelling lol! Good luck on your vaping journey and ask as many questions as you need to, that's what we are here for :)

how could you possibly tell someone that?
If someone wants to charge into vaping, full steam ahead. let them.
Encourage them. Mr. negative.:(

I'm not taking it as a negative, everyones opinions here are based on their on history, maybe your have had nothing but lucky friends/coquitters that haven't had to occasionally fall back, or maybe there were extenuating circumstances  LOL. Whatever the case I am going to AIM to quit cold turkey, I will appreciate the support of knowing that I'm not the only one to have slipped if I do go watch a game and have a beer and an analog... All I want to do is eventually get off the coffin-nails and find a healthier alternative.

Thanks for all the words of encouragement from everyone, Gonna be a fun place to be a part of I can already tell.

Did you cough because you're ashamed of having smoked for 23 years or are your lungs in very bad condition? :glare:

Either way welcome on ECF and congrats on your decision to switch to vaping, we all think here that is one of the best decision we ever made!

Initially it can be kind of surprising when a more experienced Vaper'er will advise a new person to continue smoking while making the transistion. But that is pretty common practice around here. And it's good advice for a reason.

Giving up cigarettes is an intense business. The pressure, fear and guilt are bad enough without the added goal of 'never smoking again'. Many people feel that it's okay to continue with analogs during those first few days, weeks if it is helpful to reach that final goal. Most are positive that once vaping 'takes' the new member eventually won't want the analogs anymore. It just takes longer for some than others.

Beginning vaping can be a mixture of high highs and very low lows. You just gotta hang in there and do what you need to do to get through it.

I dont think he was being negative as so much realistic. Vaping isnt for everyone (sadly) I know ive tried to convert every person I know to vaping, and its been a mixed bag. Some think its 'fake cigarettes' some are interested in a safer alternative without giving up their nicotine. I was smoking 2 packs of Black and Milds a day and I quit immediately after receiving my PV in the mail. (But I was MORE than ready to quit those nasty cigars)

Well, given the FACT...yes FACT, that many (but NOT ALL) people can quit analogs completely on the first Vape...

I would prefer to be pleasantly surprised to find out I could quit completely when I didn't expect to

Then to be dissapointed that I was unable to when I expected to.

And I am not encouraging to smoke while you're trying to switch to vaping. Basically saying not to be disapointed or feel guilty if you do.
