Hello all,
I have been vaping for about a 10months now started with a basic pen because I promised my wife I would quit smoking cigs for all the obvious health/smell reasons and found I truly love the taste and my ability to actually breathe when I exercise now... no more coughing and hacking up black stuff!! Anyways I upgraded to an eGo one a few months ago and now my wife has started bugging me for my vape because she likes it too! So I'm going to give her my eGo one and get a nicer setup for myself. I find that i end up pulling 3-4 heavy pulls on my ego one at a time now so I think its time for me to get a setup that gives more output plus I started trying new flavors through a subscription to zamplebox. I have seen/heard of people building their own coils and stuff not sure I want to get that far into it but I want a better setup which doesn't require too much tinkering/expensive to maintain what are your recommendations? Please educate me!

A box mod will fit in your pocket better than a tube mod. I do the same thing.

It is very good to have a back-up system around. When I get a new mod I pass my latest previous one on to my wife if she wants it. That may sound a little sexist, but I am the one that has the hobbyist requirements. She looks more for the nicotine and basic flavoring.

Not sexist at all mine is the same way she will be happy with my basic setup... as are you, I am the one who wants to check out they hobbyist options can you please help educate me or point me in the direction where I can learn about all these mods and what they do I am really ignorant about all of this... Up to this point I have just gone to the local Avail Vapor (retail chain) and they have sold me the basic models

A Subtank Mini tank and a VTC Mini Mod. The subtank is a very versatile tank, simple and dependable and comes with an RBA base should you decide to do your own coiling and wicking. It also works very well with the blisterpack OCC vertical coils. I would recommend the 1.2 or 1.5 for you. You might want to get a smaller bore driptip than comes on it. With that you can MTL if you desire.

Vaporbeast has the best deal on the Sub Tank Mini that I can find 23.99 for the stainless one.
The colored ones are higher. They also have the Subox Mini mod for 23.99. Which does not have a spring loaded 510 center pin and no TC but otherwise a decent mod esp for the money.

well can you at least explain some of the different setup's/terminology so I can better understand my options? I don't really want to drive to the local store to learn about vaping setups
My favorite set up that is small & easily transportable is an iStick 30w with a GS air tank.

How difficult is it learn how to do my own coiling and wicking? What are the advantages of doing this myself? also when you said with that you can "MTL" if you desire what does "MTL" mean? I am trying to learn all the lingo/terminology and options so I can decide how deep I want to get into this. Thanks!

MTL Means a tighter draw and just mostly drawing the vapor in your mouth and then inhaling into the lungs.
On the Sub tank mini with a 1.2 or 1.5 coil at 12-14 watts you will get a nice flavorful vape similar to the ego one. Use the wider bore driptip that comes with the tank and open up the air and you get more vapor. Use the .5 coil and you get fairly decent clouds and a direct lung inhale.
The rebuildable thing. Well you save lots of money for the first thing and you can tailor you coil resistance to what you like. I rebuild at 1 ohm with 26 gauge Kanthal wire, cotton wicking and enjoy it.
Watch some you tube vids on recoiling/wicking the Subtank mini. If you are fairly handy with little stuff it is not difficult.

I moved up from Evod and T3 tanks to the mini and like it.

Jeez, that is a biggie. I realized that cigs were boring, regular or menthol, open the box, insert cig in mouth and slowly kill self. I learned the benefits and wanted to make my experience more enjoyable. I got so enthused and grateful that I started getting into some advocacy.

Anyway, the biggest thing that helped me was reading these forums daily and using the search bar for specific learning. If I didn't understand something being said I wrote it down on my to do list. Before I spent any money, I did that.

Good things to learn about (sub-forums, internet, asking):

    Different mods and major brands
Different toppers (Clearomizer, RTA, RBA, RDA)
    Ohms (low or high?)
    Batteries (Types, brands)
    Clones and authentic
    Sources (good/bad/cheap but chancy)
People here that seem to have a special knack to PM
    Nicotine
    Steeping (airing the juice)

And take a lot of notes to reference.

I got more satisfaction by making it something of a hobby. I did not "save" any money for a while, but I never went back to cigs. My health and social happiness is worth it.

    Good luck!

The problem when you ask for suggestions is that folk (me included|) will come up with out favourites!

However the parameters you set are - the device should be pocket-able which leads to a box mod rather than a tube; should be easy to operate and deliver a better vape than your existing set up and presumably be easy to deal with should things die during the working day.

I cannot suggest anything better than an iStick30w and a Nautilus Mini - the iStick will give up to 3.5 days per charge depending on how much you vape and what settings you use and the Nautilus will let you via, it's variable airflow, choose the draw you want. The BVC coils can be replaced in moments and are generally rated as some of the best factory built coils on the market.

I emphasise however that this is a personal opinion based on what I think you want....

The NEBOX might be the way to go because it's compact!Kanger NEBOX Starter kit
But I might go with the Subbox Mini if you're gonna make it a hobby!

ok so I made a trip down to the local vape store to check out all these different kits you guys recommended and to have someone kinda explain everything to me and after that discussion I am considering the Evic VTC boxmod with the Silo Beast Sub Ohm tank. My understanding is the Evic VTC is compact, can run up to 75watts, and provides ability for temperature control. I decided I don't want to get into building my own coils just yet so I liked the Silo Beast Sub Ohm tank because it has minimal glass exposure (durability) and is compatible with "clapton coils" along with others in the .5-.3 range. I smoke alot of creamy and desert type flavors so I want something that can give me a good straight to lung burst with decent warmth and will be compact/durable in my pocket at work in case I bump into something. The guy at the shop said he really likes the clapton coils because they double wrap the cotton wick which he said helps provide better flavor. What do you all think about the clapton coils? They are like $5 a piece are others just as good and cheaper or is this a good option for coils? Also can anyone provide a critic of the Evic VTC/Silo Beast Sub Ohm tank of disadvantages I might wish to consider? All opinions are welcome I would like to hear why you don't prefer either of these so I can determine if they are concerns which might bother me as well before I purchase.
