About to do first multi-day trip after taking up vaping. Wondering if anyone has any pointers. If not, thinking about trying snus, but if that doesn't do it, thinking I might end up taking up analogs again for the duration of the trip.

My concern is a cart is fine for the day-ride, taking periodic stops to fill up, but a cart-full just ain't going to do it on a long ride, especially going down the interstate.

I have an analog-lighter on the bike, so in the past it has been quite comfortable going down the road lighting up an analog, actually quite relaxing. I have only lost the lighter once doing this (e.g actually twice, but first time I turned around and picked it up, second time I knew I wasn't going to find it).

Anyways, topping-off carts just ain't going to happen, I can just see my $150 screwDriver back-flipping down the road, don't think it will make it.

When I was riding (Many years ago) I had an analog lighter on my bike also. It will come in handy for a passthrough, but the carts? Changing or filling carts at 80MPH is not recommended. I can't think of any easy or safe way to change carts except for stopping. Unless you have a passenger. The passenger could be in charge of changing the carts.

Edit; Maybe you'll want to consider fitting your SD with one of those small wrist straps like they have on cameras. It may save an unexpected drop.

Travel Safe;

I dunno, with my thinner gloves on (not my ridiculous armored ones for screwing around) I think one handed with the left hand is doable

Hey!!!!! That is what I'm talking about, forgot all about the wrist-strap possibility (e.g. took that off as soon as I unpacked the box) and taking the cart change suggestion one step further. I could actually have multiple cart+atomizers ready. I think changing just the cart one-handed might be tricky, but unscrewing and screwing on a new atomizer+cart should be manageable one-handed. Thanks!!

Changing the carts probably would be doable, as long as you tested the carts before hand (some of my carts are really tight fitting).

But, I just played around with changing the atomizer one-handed, thinking it just might be a smother option (e.g. less chance of things dropping).

I ride a vespa around San Francisco and pull mine out of my pocket for a quick vape at red lights, but on a long road trip -- something I actually love to do on the back roads of California -- I would probably bring twice as many carts as I think I need, maybe a bottle of liquid too just in case, and I would definitely not swap the carts or the batteries while I was riding.

I think the wrist strap idea is a great one. I also think that pulling over to swap batteries, and carts is also a great idea.

Charging is easy if you have a car charger, provided there's a place to put the charging batteries. Considering that, a pouch would be my solution. I would put the charger in my pouch, and plug it into the lighter on my bike. So it was only a loose cable between the pouch and the power.

Still, since e-cigarettes are heavy, and you can't just flick the ...., it's going to be a lot different. I've got a "cell phone" pocket on my armored jacket, and I keep my 510 in there. It's easy to flip up the pocket flap and whip out the 510 for a drag or two and then put it away without distraction.

Messing with things in my pockets always worries me. I've had close calls on long trips, especially when I get tired and don't really know how tired I am yet.

It's totally doable. But you are smart for being prepared ahead of time.

I could see using a Janty Stick/Nicostick - 801 cart for long use and then the Janty case is a realy tight fit. It's open on the top but you could to a velcro strap around the batt area and to the bottom of the case and back up. It has a belt clip so you'd have to mod a glove for that or just velcro the whole thing on your hand ;-) I'd try it. lol.

edit - charging cord acts as a passthrough. You'd need this or similiar:

US$3.88 Free Ship White USB Car Charger + USB Wall Charger- AU Standard - Wholesale US$3.69

How long in comparison to a 901 does a 801 cart last (e.g. 25%, 50% longer)? I've actually been thinking about getting a Janty Stick as a back-up plus I kind of like the usb adapter setup for auto-traveling, I have an IPhone analog-lighter usb adapter which would complete that setup quite nicely.

I myself would just bring along my 3 batteries all setup with attys & filled carts(Modded carts hold alot more liquid) and when one dies i'll just move on to the next. 3 batteries will usually get me thru the whole day on my 510. this way there is no unscrewing or anything just put the one with the dead battery in one pocket and pull the fresh setup out of the other.

I have a stick and it's what I'd recommend for riding (I used to do that too). Properly loaded with the right viscosity of juice (or one of the pre-filled carts that Janty sells, they seem to last forever), I'd bet you'd only need to change or refill the cart about as often as you need to refuel your tank. If the stick was plugged into your lighter setup on a relatively short cord, it would probably save you from (most) accidental drops too.

I did a quick side by side comparison with the 801 JS cart and the 510 which uses the same cart as the 901 and the 801 is about 2x width and a good 1/3 longer in length of the 510. Length of time is hard to judge for me because I have several going. But I'd say at least 3x.

And I'm pretty sure the iPhone adapter has the amps to run the JS. I think the Belkin I have is an iPhone adapter. It's a dual usb 1.5 amp on one port and 1amp on the other, iirc.

Good point. Pretty sure any mini to 2.0 usb cord will work - seems there's one that doesn't from another thread and the JS cord is longer than the 510 Passthrough, but another piece of velcro on the bars would solve that too. And there's a good chance there'd be some place to hook the case onto, but I like the glove idea....

Funny this thread came up. I was gonna post a ridin & Vapin thread myself!

I was just on a ride this weekend and didn't want to stop but for tank fills, but I wanted to vape and ride (was a real ..... with analogs!). My solution: I have pen clips on my batts. So I loaded up 3 full e cigs and clipped em in my top pocket. I'd vape one dry and go to the next etc. The 3 full units was about perfect to get to the next gas stop (My Harley only has a 5 gal tank so I gotta stop about every 1.5 - 2 hrs). Then at each stop I'd refill the units and get back in the wind. If I need more vaping than the 3 will allow, I'll build & load a 4th.

I'm really not too hip on trying to switch carts while riding. Staying alive has become a high priority for me lately!

The added plus is that it really freaks out people driving next to you when you reach in your pocket, pull out what looks like a cigarette, take a few hits and put it back in your pocket!!!
