Vaping or Giving up

Hello,

I recently bought my first e-cig hoping to give up a 20 a day habit. So far so good - two weeks without a real one.

Now, i was wondering how many of you guys are actually trying to give up. From what I've noticed many of you find vaping more like a new trend and want to carry on rather than give up :)

I personally would love to give it all up all together. I'd like to hear your opinion.

Until I learn of any genuine scientifically based evidence that nicotine is a serious health risk, I'm in no big rush to give up vaping or to switch to 0 nic. juice. I have cut down on the nic somewhat, mostly out of convenience and because I'm a chain-vaper. I started with 24mg and am now mostly doing 18mg, and sometimes even 6mg because I got a bunch of 6mg cheap.

Since I make most of my juice myself, if I lower the nic, it will probably be because of the cost or availability of nicotine. I can see myself vaping 0 nic at some point. Or not.

Meanwhile, for the last 2 years, I've quit a 2-1/2 PAD, 40 year habit of sucking burning tar into my lungs. That'll do for the foreseeable future.

Personally, I started vaping mostly because of the convenience of it. I can vape in the house, and my wife doesn't tell me I stink. I've been vaping for almost 2 years now, nicotine is a very addictive substance. But I feel it would be far easier to quit vaping than to quit smoking. I've considered it, just haven't made the mental commitment yet.

I started vaping to get off of cigarettes...and get off the nicotine. I started vaping at 0 nic, and found that to be a big mistake! lol! So I went up to 31 mgs to start with 3 months ago, and just today I mixed up my first batch of juice with no nicotine! YAY me! Anyway, will I continue to vape with no nicotine? Most definately! I'm loving the flavor and it helps when I get stressed out or just want to relax and take a break.

Started vaping in Sept. 2011 at 36 mg and am now at 8 mg. If all goes according to plan I'll be finished with vaping by Sept. 2012...maybe even sooner but no pressure.

36mg ? I didn't know they make this high eliquids. BTW, does the level of nicotine make any difference in terms of the TH ? Thanks?

New to the whole thing, still deciding on what setup I plan to start with-but I picked up a Blu disposable today while I was oot and aboot.

I didna look to get into this to quit smoking (in my case, I usually smoke several loads of shisha each weekend), but more of a way to enjoy something similar TO a hookah during the week, and to be able to "smoke" when I am on the town.

I have not touched an ACTUAL cigarette in... Oh, since January of 2011. Started the hookah in September of 2010, had my heart attack in January '11, and gave up the cigarettes shortly thereafter. Still kept on with the hookah and pipe, though.

So far, the "Magnificent Menthol" has more of a caramel/mint taste, with a bit of a York Peppermint Patty after taste than actual MENTHOL, but it is not unpleasant.

I gave up analogs without ever intending to. I was a 2 pack plus smoker for 30 years.
I started vaping because I got tired of being treated like a leper for enjoying one of my favorite things. I used to enter smoking areas by saying "is this where the desperate criminals lurk?"
What I noticed after about a month of both vaping and smoking was that I kept forgetting to buy cigarettes. Once I was home, I didn't want to go back out when I had juice I could use. I could feel the withdrawal from the other 4000 chemicals. After three bouts of the unintentional quitting, I just decided I didn't want to feel that way again, so the analogs had to go. It was an annoying three to four days, but I've never gone back.
The debate I love here is whether or not we're still smokers, even if we don't smoke anymore. My take is that I was born a smoker, I will die a smoker, but I'm not smoking anymore.

Started vaping June 1 2011 at 24mg nicotine and went to 0mg after 2 1/2 months. I started vaping to quit analogs (real cigarettes) and I stopped smoking as soon as I started with my e-cig.

I actually think that smoking is 2 habits; nicotine and the physical act of smoking. Quitting cigarette smoking requires you to work on both habits, and this is why it is so hard to quit. E-cigs help by giving you the chance to work on each habit separately.

I think I might try to quit vaping at some point, but right now my life is just too stressful. I believe that having the e-cig to use will greatly help in that effort.

I am glad that you found this forum. ECF has been a HUGE help in my vaping life. You should always feel free to ask any questions that you have. A great and wise man once said, "There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers." , so WELCOME TO THE TRIBE!:)

I was a pack a day smoker for 25 years and quit cold turkey in Jan this year, and went to full time ecigs. I started with the Njoy kit and when I got bored with the cartridge flavors I started adding Loranns Bubblegum flavoring to my menthol carts. Then I started wondering if this might be bad for me (lol AFTER I had been doing it...duh me) so I stared surfing the net for info and discovered vaping!!! Now I am completely addicted to vaping and love it! I vape 6mg or 0mg depending on my flavor of the moment. I DIY some juice (all my 0mg is DIY) But I adore Vapedudes S'mores and Chocolate Strawberry flavors right now. I switched to the ego 510 kit and am now considering a lavatube. I say why quit?? If it keeps me away from analogs, who cares?? :vapor:

You know, right now vaping is like a hobby for me. For now, its fun and I enjoy experimenting w/ vaping. But one thing I have noticed [having been off analogs for 5 months] is that I don't have to vape. Sometimes I chain vape. Other times, I go for hours on end w/o even thinking about vaping. While I don't have any specific plans to quit, I don't see myself vaping forever either.
