Wife and I started ~5 months ago on an eGo-Twist with Kanger T2 clearo's. We've recently purchased the Tesla mod....btw, loving this as it fits in the hand very nice and menu is very easy to manipulate (screen placement does NOT bother us). Recently, we purchased a couple BCC's (ProTank for the harsher fluids and T3-S for the softer one's). To date with minimal usage, they are working well...producing nice vapor, not muting the flavor and the cooler hit is a change.

Before we dive fully and invest into many more BCC's, I wanted to at least TRY a Carto-tank setup. Note, I did purchase some SmokTech (I think) disposable cartomizers. Frankly, hated these as it felt like I was sipping the eliquid - not a good experience. So, looking around....wondering if I should try to pickup a cart-tank setup at local B&M (not sure what they've got) or order. I've heard about Phiniac and IBTanked. Wow.......looks like a single tank is ~$40 or more.

Any other tank options?
I've read Boge carto's as well as Ikenvape...best place to get these?
Also, tank size (looking at IBTanked)...what should one get? Note, I do like the size (diameter) of the Protank on our mod so not sure I'd go much larger than that. 19mm / 22mm / 25mm ...other?

I'd like to stay in the 2.5/3ml or more range...don't want something small as I'll not be in the mood to keep filling these up.

Lastly, is it possible to clean out a carto (I'm thinking no)? Basically...is it easy to change fluids or would I have to clean tank and replace with new carto? If only single fluid per carto...how long can one assume it'll last? We are currently using 70Pg/30Vg fluids.

Any help / guidance is most appreciated.

Seems like most mods are in the 22mm range. If you've got a ruler with a metric side, measure the diameter at the top of your mod--that'll tell you what you need to know.

I have an IBTanked cargo tank and I was very pleased with it when I was using cartos. Check out Phiniac tanks too--just another option :)

Not a whole lot if experience with cartos, they just weren't for me. I'm sure someone will chime in on the cleaning question.

I will second ValleyVapes. I have used these carto tanks going on a year, they will handle any liquid you throw at it,Cinn, citrus, licorice. I use the cheapo 7.99 and the Boge cartos. I do clean mine,I use the steamer on my espresso machine ( a cheap MR Coffee) You can heat some distilled water in a cup and let them soak and then blow them out and let them sit for a day. I used a turkey baster before to blow them out. I like them much better than the ce4 or vivi novas. Oh and Valley Vapes is a Texas Co.,Ray makes the tanks himself and you can buy all the parts from him too.

Oh when I say use the steamer hold the carto with pliers,so not to burn yourself. I hit the top hole and all the other holes. The distilled water,as our water here in the Hill Country is HARD,not sure about Humble. My Cartos last about 3 weeks. Valley Vapes has a good price on pre punched cartos, when you buy 5 or more boxes. You can get a puncher and save even more, but you will need the punched carto, for the tank.

For the most part a carto tank is a carto tank. Some use better materials than others, but none will out perform another. With that said, I would recommend one of the tanks from valley view vapes. They use premium materials and won't break the bank. If you like the size of the Protank, then you want to get a tank that is 19mm (3/4") outer diameter.

Premium Triple V PolyPro 6ml Tank uses XL or dual coil cartos

Premium Triple V PolyPro 3ml Tank Uses standard length cartos

If you are going to get into carto tanks I would highly suggest you to watch this video. It covers punching and filling cartos. Filling the tanks, trouble shooting and everything in between. A must see for anyone new to carto tanks.

If you are going to use pre-punched cartos, skip to the 23 min 10 sec mark. Everything before that is a review on a carto punch tool and how to punch cartos.

In the video he talks about and demonstrates the slap yo mama tank tool. I use a similar tool that I got at valley view vapes and it was cheaper. Make sure you pick one up. They don't look like much, but they really do make life a whole lot easier.

IBTanked sells one as well (that's not as good) that doubles as a drip tip. If you buy a tank from IBTanlked it will come in the "kit".

I buy all my cartos (I use boge) from surevapes.com. They are cheap and fast with free shipping.

If you want to try fusion cartos, you need to get them from the Ikenvape web site which is unfortunately down right now. All I have heard so far is that it will reopen "soon".

Ok this is nonstop with the carto tank questions.

So YES, IBtanked is pretty amazing, and yes its more like 30 bucks for a VERY quality tank that will last you years (even comes with spare orings)

However if you just want to test the waters i recommend and AGR as they are cheap, and you can use unflanged cartos. Here is what i used as my first carto tank

AGR Cartomizer Tank

Here are the cartos i prefer, boge LR with a nice big laser drilled hole

BOGE 510 LR PrePunched Cartomizers

As for using your cartos my blog has only 2 entries, and both are on carto tanks. The important one being my how to replace your carto and prime, with my technique you will be able to install and use a new carto without pre priming, and be vaping as fast as you would with any clearo. My fill video will show you how to fill your cartotank without requiring a needle or carto fill tool, with as much ease as filling any clearo(the AGR has a fill hole for a needle and a locking bottom so you wont be able to do it that way unless you get an ibtanked or phinny or other unlocked tank). Good luck

Ok, thanks for the information. Does the filler material change the flavor of the fluid vs a flavor wick on say a BCC (ProTank)? I guess this is where the personal preference comes into play. Just wondering if it's worth experimenting with.......guess I can try a cheaper model just to see. Hmmmm

While I know that your priming method works, I personally wont be using it. I like to know exactly how much juice is in my carto after it's primed. With your way it would be too easy to not prime it enough and ruin a carto or over prime it and flood your carto.

Not using a tank tool is a pretty bad idea as well. It not only makes it easier to fill your tank, but it also protects you o-rings. I watched your video and eventually you will eat up an o-ring and have a leaky tank.

so i was looking at the valley view sidewinder, got paid today and thought AH HA..now is the time.... ooops.. guess not. It looks like he cuts off ordering after a certain amount come in each week. So I guess I'll be trying again when it's open to ordering one more time.
I guess that's better than being perpetually backlogged and making paid customers wait.... instead, we are just waiting to pay :)

Yeah, apparently VVV is a one man show. Its just one person taking and filling orders. He has no help. If I remember correctly it took about a week or two for me to get my tank.

First tank I got was from IBT, the "bold swirl sun kissed". I plan on getting another one this weekend.

Its been 3 days, check my blog. Not a single dry hit or burn. My last carto lasted a month, no burn there either. I didnt really NEED to replace it, but i did so i could make a video.

When it happens ill make a video on replacing orings.

I wouldnt call anything i do a bad idea. Thats just mean, i hope you know i have no ill intentions of anyone elses method of using their setup. EDIT: :D
