Holy crap,

Been vaping in my office for awhile now and today, I take a vape, and the fire alarm goes off. Didn't know it was me until the building manager came in, pointed to the smoke alarm above my head, and said, "That's the F'er, if you're doing anything hide it." He told the fire chief that it was a dirty sensor and he'll disable and replace it. I guess I wont be vaping in my office anymore. :(

Savoir-Faire is everywhere!
Yeah, problem is its a smoke free campus where I work and it is a huge hospital campus. It was nice being able to sit at my desk and vape away especially now that winter is coming. Oh well.
Just don't exhale. Hold it in until there's nothing to come out.

You'll be fine.

I know this might not be great advice, but I smoke in my office and I just dont blow clouds or chain vape. Also, it doesnt hurt to blow smoke into your shirt or something. I hope these tips help, Im sure it would beat going out in the cold to vape:)

Thanks for the tips. I'll give it a few days. I don't want to accidentally set it off again and have the fire chief come back and see me sitting there....again.

It takes a little reminding yourself to not blow it out at first, but it will keep you "nicofied" while you're inside without letting everyone know you're doing it...lol

Sounds like the Building Mgr is a decent fellow though. :)
Have you considered a small fan on your desk, that you could exhale the vapor into? Might be enough to disperse it sufficiently. Good Luck!

Yeah, he is. He likes the smell. He was surprised that I set it off as well. He knows how long I've been doing it and was shocked. Its a good thing he knows how those sensors work, apparently they detect heat and there's a camera for the smoke. Occasionally spiders trigger the camera portion so he told the Fire Chief that it was probably a spider that triggered the alarm.

Its funny, as soon as I decided I'd wait a few days, the more I craved to vape. So now that I know how the alarm works, I've been blowing the vapor under my desk. I think I will buy a fan though. That sounds like a really good idea, plus it'll keep me somewhat cool. I've got numerous pc's running in my office and they can generate heat and the thermostats in here are all jacked up so the fan sounds like a really good option right now.
