One of my best memories is a "vaping for Beginners" video series, which I found by searching YouTube with exactly that term in 2012. The user was Andruless. This was his first one, which is still adorable:
My friends had introduced me to vaping but I'd not yet bought the equipment. I knew it would take some investment, and I didn't know if I was ready. As soon as I watched all of Andruless' vaping videos, I ordered the two Ego-T batts for rotation, the recharger, the plastic Stardust tanks and the liquid, same flavor my friends used, a custom whiskey tobacco blend, all from GoodVapes, a Dallas store belonging to friends of the friends who put me onto vaping.
I was so happy back then, about discovering vaping, and the miracle of quitting cigarettes. I didn't have a computer at home back then, so I stayed after hours at the brick & mortar to binge watch PBusardo, VaporChase and other reviewers I found. Even though I never tried V4L, they had a blog with a lot of users that were so friendly and helpful, to each other and to those investigating vaping. I spent hours reading that.
Then the flavors, omygawd, and the quickly emerging new equipment, glass tanks, twist batteries with higher voltage, bigger batteries with more mah, the beautiful painted Ego batts from MyFreedomSmokes. I guess we all have the million dollar vaping journey to report, or "how I quit smoking and went broke".

The term was "vapor towels" instead of paper towels.It seemed like everything leaked back then never left home without a wad of Kleenex

Part of the million dollar vape journey for me, was that I was an evangelist of the new religion. When smoking friends asked me about my vape, as higher quality equipment options were coming out that I wanted an excuse to buy, I gave stuff away to smokers wanting to try it.The loads of vape gear accumulated which I haven't sold or moved on in some way certainly beats the pile of burnt ashes / butts I would have had otherwise IMHO...
There once was an episode of Taste My Juice where you had to guess the number of lights on a Christmas Tree in order to win the stocking. The lights corrosponded with the button colors of certain Provaris.
Am I telling this right?

I had a true mod in the sense of the word, a tube mod machined by someone from ELR from an aluminum pipe. It was magenta and about 5 inches long. It took 2 disposable cr123a camera batteries which were like $10 a pack of 2 back in 2010. It sucked through those batteries rather quickly, but it did put out a lot of good vape for it's time. I wonder what happened to that mod?

Busardo could get into the stratosphere when it came to equipment, so mainly I liked to watch his juice reviews, but I did get from him the importance of using a fuse in a mech mod, among other "safety first" tips. His underwater vaping video was hilarious. He introduced me to Dr. Farsalinos. PBusardo has been a positive force in the vaping movement, IMO.

This thread was a really fun idea.
Hard to believe I'm vaping long enough to have a collection of memories from the good old days, because sometimes vaping still feels new and exciting. When I started lurking on this forum in 2012 there were so many people posting who'd been here for years. They spoke a language that had a cachet to it. I wanted to speak that language and be like them.

I am enjoying this topic.
Somehow during this long journey I missed a lot of things like cigalikes, egos, etc.
I started with GG and 910s (or where they 810s?) in mid 2009. Dripping. Using a couple of batteries that we don't use now and even a plug in adapter. Quickly went to punched cartos. There was definitely blue foam aquarium filter material acquired but I can't seem to remember why. A long, hazy road of Nr-R wires (I can't remember the reasoning) and I believe that was followed by years of REO squonkers then RTAs on regulated mods. Lots of RTAs. Along the way I learned to build rdas, rtdas and rtas. Began mixing my liquids and of course stocked up for Armageddon several times. Part of the adventure.
I tried my first pod today. I am sure they work for a lot of people and certainly are good for certain places. I bought it for my wedding day since I needed something very small but of course it took 9 weeks to arrive so I made due for the wedding.
I guess I just grew up tinkering with all of this so the pods just seem lacking in that department. I will probably end up giving it to someone I see interested in giving up smoking.
Still chasing the perfect set up which seems to come every now and again only to get eclipsed by something new. That is part of the fun. It has been fun on many levels.
