I definitely get the hate on improper terms. Just makes communication difficult. I grow mushrooms, which requires some very precise sterile work. The problem is that in order to keep up with the cutting edge I have to go to the discussions about the illegal ones. Those hippies will just straight-up make up new words or slap their name on an old technique. Makes it really hard to keep up if you're not reading every day.

It's true that it makes concise communication difficult, but also, the newer generations of Vapers (As well as other "hobbies" as you pointed out) tend to utilize the internet as their main source of information. When those putting forth said information (looked upon as "The Experts") use a jargon that includes fabricated/nonsensical/.......ized/or just plain incorrect terminology, that terminology tends to be adopted rather quickly. Now we have Vapers who can tell you the " ohmage on their Atty" but neither know nor understand the concepts of resistance or atomization.
Now, granted, one does not need to understand either to actually vape, but I feel that this "dumbing-down" of basic terminology makes us all look like fools. And no one should use words that they do not understand.
Vaping is under attack. Has been for a while. This is not new information. I feel that it is as important to instruct newer vapers/ists on battery safety & why one should not need to hold their mod with an oven mitt to vape on it, as it is instructing them from the ground up in the basic principles governing 'The Arte of Rebuilding'. This, at least, would improve the appearance of vapers in positive way by showing the opposition that we are intelligent and informed adults pursuing an activity that requires us to learn things we may not have otherwise learned - and that we did indeed do our homework.
Having people believe that terms and concepts such as Ohm, Ohm's Law, Atomizer, Atomization, Resistance, Amperage, Voltage, Wattage, Venturi, et cetera were created for Vaping paraphernalia is disturbing at best, and that is exactly what seems to be happening.
Maybe we need to write a full primer on "So you want to be a Vaper/Electrical Engineer/Burner Technician/Alchemist/Stationary Engineer/Mechanic/Physicist/Fluid Dynamics Specialist/Metallurgist?" And send it out to those in the limelight so they can pass on a better basic understanding of the elements involved to the newer generations...
