I vape at my desk when I'm at work, too! I do client/database support and I share an office with 4 other people. At first I would just stealth vape. My boss caught me one morning when she came in early and asked me about it. I was afraid that she'd tell me I still had to go outside, but to my surprise she said "Well, that explains how your productivity has gone way up" and she was thrilled that I had quit smoking. She said she was okay with me using at my desk, but wanted me to get the approval of my coworkers. Every single one said they didn't have a problem and actually liked the smells coming from my cubical. I've been open about it ever since, although I still go outside once in a while just so I can get away from the phone and computer.

Now that's what I'm talkin about. Nice WOH
Now to get our bonus PV's

I work in bars with people smoking around me, I killed the analogs and started with my eGo-T last Tuesday - vaping isn't an issue, however I still keep it low key as I've been answering the same damn question over and over.. 'What the hell is that?' <insert 5 minute explanation here> :) When leaving last night I got in my truck and noticed just how much of a smell I was bringing home with me - so it was a 10 minute vap-a-thon on the way home with the window down. I can't believe I never paid that much attention to the smell of stale smoke before!

I also vape at my desk all day. My boss' do not discourage it at all, nor have they put any restrictions on it. They'd much rather see me at my desk being productive than outside smoking NOT WORKING. Our front desk dude, nonsmoker, comes back to my corner of the office and says... it smells like toasted marshmallows!

The unintended side effect? I have converted 2 smokers in my office to vaping. When they saw that I was not stepping out for smokes, not going thru withdrawals, not going thru the emotional rollercoasters of quitting smoking, they started to get really curious and wondered if it might work for them too. I gave my boss one to try for a day, he will convert. I gave my coworker one to borrow for the day and he ordered his the very same day, and purchased my first 510 kit (I have since upgraded to eGo-T) for his wife. The big boss in the office has quit for almost a year now, but he still chews like 10 pieces of nicotine gum a day and has commented about the negative side effects. Me thinks it wont be long before he also is at my desk inquiring about the e-cigarette.

I am 3 weeks into it and have not had one analog. No desire to either. When I am out and about at work and walk by the smoking areas, it about knocks me over. The stench is awful. One of the ladies in my office is still smoking and when she comes back from smoke break, I can smell her wafting thru the office, so I know what you mean about smelling the smokers 3 cubes away. I am so thankful I dont smell like that anymore and never will again. As I said on another thread, it's embarrassing after the fact. However there is also a certain amount of satisfaction knowing NOW.

I can fully relate to your story Sassyonemeis :)

Network Admin for an ISP here, e-cigs have been a godsend!

Now I can chain vape while in our head end hunting down a problem instead of constantly wanting a smoke from the stress.

Not to mention the occasional pain in the ... phone call with an end user...

Huzzah!

My coworkers know when I'm on a bad call because the scent of whatever I'm vaping gets stronger from my chain vaping!

Grats!! I am software too (embedded stuff) and I work for a small company with a boss who smokes. We always did all of our smoking in the warehouse but it's cold in there in the winter! I was told i could vape at my desk by the bosses of both little companies in our office and I do. I do try to vape flavors what won't stink up the place (my office got a bit funky when I was vaping Desert Ship which is a slightly pungent Turkish blend) but now I mostly vape vanilla and a bit of a sweet RY4 (oRYental) and chocolate and I don't think the smell is bothering anyone.

I manage a bar, so vaping at work is not an issue. However, I'd say it made quitting analogs much harder because I'm around cigarettes and smokers all the time.

Like Randomness mentioned, it can also get annoying dealing with questions. I usually use a eGo/Riva/T-Rex when I'm in the back office, around regulars, or just not busy. But I also carry a white 510 for walking through the crowd when busy.

calling it an e-"cigarette" is what i think throws people off the most. after that, there's no explaining it away. you can call it a "vapor" all day long, but to them "it's still smoke!"

i'm a supervisor at a retail store. i vape in the break room and until one of the higher ups say somethin', i will continue to do so

I work in a casino, so it is a smoking atmosphere. However, while anyone can smoke on casino floors, indoor air laws still prevent smoking in our office areas and employees are not allowed to smoke in public areas or while working. So my pv is looked at with reverence. So far, no problems. They let me use it, as long as I limit it to my office. I have now ordered 6 starter kits for co-workers!
