Vaping Wattage question

Hi all,

I am new to the forum and do not yet have enough posts to place this in the proper area so I must post my question here.

Being new to vaping, but loving it, I am a bit inquisitive about wattage. I have a few rda and rtas which I will list for reference purposes. Lately I have been exploring the idea of purchasing a higher power variable wattage mod, currently the only one I have is the MVP 2.0 which has a max wattage of 10 I believe.

My question is this...how much wattage do I really need? I like a decent cloud, but am not a cloud chaser, and prefer more taste over huge plumes.

The rda, rta, and clearomizers that I currently own.

Orchid V6 Clones
The Big Dripper rdta
five pawns LTD edition kayfun Lite
Iclear 30

Thanks all.

Hi Jklpub and welcome to the forum!

The iStick 50W is a very affordable, nice mod for "stepping up".

Also, here's a very good, interesting read regarding vaping with high-wattage devices and getting the most of them:
My thoughts about sub-ohm and latest VV/VW devices...

Hope it helps and Happy Vaping!

Welcome jklpub!
Good vapor can be produced with very low wattages. As far as hardware, it has more to do with the quality of the coil and the wicking than it does with the power IMHO. I'm using a Magma right now with dual coils (about 1.4 ohms total) and cotton wicks at about 9 watts. I don't own a high watt mod so maybe I'm missing something, but I'm pretty happy with what I have.

Would you suggest a 50W, 65W, 100W or any of a number of watts up to 260W?

Well I've found ways to stay below 15 watts and still get what I want. There are in fact plenty of low wattage toppers that produce a good vape.

Imo, all more wattage is, is a different way to do the same thing that we use to do with low wattage.

I use a Nautilus mini, an Aerotank, four Kayfuns, a Subtank mini, and a Magma dripper. The coils on these run from .5 to 1.8 ohms. I run the Nautilus and Aerotank at 12.5 and the rest anywhere from 14 watts to 16 depending on the topper. I personally don't need any more than that to get the taste I'm looking for. I run them all on either the IPV mini (30W) or the iStick 50. The side benefit to this level is that the battery life is improved with lower wattage.
