Earlier tonight I read a post in a vaping community on Facebook about a guy who says he's the first person in US history to ever get a ticket for vaping while driving in Upstate New York. The problem is, there is no such law!

Has anyone else ever heard of such a thing?

I'm new here so I'm not allowed to post a link to the story but I'm sure it will be in the news in the coming days. You know how the news loves to pick on us vapers!

maybe vaping to hide texting in the clouds! who knows maybe he should let the window down a bit. might have looked like cheech and chong going down the road. all i do know is i used to love to smoke while driving. kinda makes the time pass by on a longer travel. hey, now i don't have to find the ashtray or burn something unintentionally. interesting first post. i grew up in K-town so GO VOLS and welcome to ecf.

Thanks for the welcome! Go Vols! If you are a Vols fan you've got to try the Orange and White juice at Vol Vapors! AMAZING! You can also find the story about this incident on their blog.

Ridiculous! The man and I were talking about this tonight and I hope he contests this in court (hopefully resulting in the ticket being overturned due to technicality). It would be one thing if he was cited for distracted driving because he was observed swerving all over the place and driving erratically due to trying to drip and drive, or rolling around in a ridiculously cloud filled car... But being cited for using a "personal electronic device"??? Uuugh. That's beyond a stretch.:facepalm::facepalm:

A ticket for using a personal electronic device. Gimme a break! Wow. I hope that doesn't happen here.

Although, it sounds like maybe the cop was looking for someone to give a ticket to for any reason. We have a few roads near here where the speed limit is 35 on one end of the road, but changes to 25 before the road ends. Another road where it's 45, changes to 35, etc. Guess where the cops are hanging out on these roads? A few trees and bushes hide them at exactly the point at which they can pop out and pull someone over for speeding. They do it all day long. It seems like a form of entertainment (and revenue.)
