Vaping zits??!!! Ewww...

So here I thought I was done with acne in middle school. Just last night I said to my bf "man, what's up with all these whiteheads? Like everytime I look in the mirror..."
He asked me how long I'd had them, and I said about a month, my skin has just been super greasy, too. And technically, my forehead's only been a bit bumpy for the past few weeks - but in the past few DAYS it seems that many of my pores have tiny little whiteheads.

I use an astringent, either witch hazel or a sea-breeze type one, and every time I do it's obvious how greasy my skin is by looking at the cotton ball.

then I read about "vape zits" on here and it all made sense - previously, I had attributed it to going from veggie to vegan a cpl months ago.

i am confused, though - some say its from the juice itself, others say it's the crap in analogs coming out. Which is it?

Thank god I am not the only one. I developed a really nasty pimple on my lip, and i read that it is due to the juice as well. My sin has seemed more oily than normal, i usually have normal to actually dry skin on my face. This just totally grossed me out! I am almost 40 years old for god sake! My 16 year old has nicer skin right now that I do! Hopefully it passes! I dont want to have adult acne when i never had it as a teen!

No problems here after a month, how long have you been vaping?

Congrats on going from veggie to vegan!!!!!!! That must be hard in Texas?

Well, it's not as hard as you may think, living near Dallas and all. But I was born and raised in Eugene, Oregon - only lived here about 6 years. And now tht it's summer again, I'm homesick as always.

I ate a lot of vegan stuff in Eugene and Portland even when I was a carnivore. There is just so much of it around there - so many hippies!
I originally came here just to be near family for a few months. Then I met a guy and, well...

Tucson, it's a dry heat
Some people say it from tobacco detox, but I think it has to do with the residue from PG/VG on your face. I always have a shiny face and condensation on my nose from the glycerine. I started doing an extra face wash a day and the zits are gone now and my face is VERY smooth (I think that's also due to the glycerine.

I have been vaping for 5 weeks and am 4 weeks cigarette free and have been having all kind of skin issues in the last couple of weeks. What I have found browsing around the web is that this condition is not unique to vaping. Google "quit zits" and you will see that it's incredibly common among people quitting smoking using any method. I still tend to vape outside in a well ventilated area and the acne isn't localized to my face so, at least for me, I don't think it's related to the juice. There are a lot of theories out there, some more plausible than others.

One theory is that the body is clearing out heavy metals such as cadmium that smokers take in that replaces zinc. One of a few interesting detox theories.

The more interesting theory to me is that nicotine suppresses natural testosterone production and quitting would result in a natural testosterone boost that increases sebum production and consequently, acne. At first I didn't think that could be the case with vapers however, there are a handful of other nicotine-like chemicals(and other nastiness) that we are no longer getting that could have similar effects.

Just know that it's normal and most people are clear of it in a few short months. I had pretty bad acne as a teenager and this isn't nearly that bad. Given the benefits, I can put up with this for a short time.

Oye! I heard Oregon is vegan heaven. I have a vegetarian coworker that used to live in Portland and pretty much anytime vegetarian comes up "well in Portland" practically starts every sentence. Lol

Tobacco smoking wreaks havoc on the endocrine system. The poisons we ingest from tobacco smoke has a well-documented suppression effect on our hormone production. For those who suffer from low testosterone, this is basic, the first thing that has to be done before treatment is to quit smoking.

When you suddenly quit smoking tobacco after years of subduing your body's natural chemistry with poisons, chemistry that your body has long compensated for as best it can, the endocrine system is released from it's bondage. Your body has to readjust to the sudden increase in hormone levels. Essentially, to a degree, you get to go through puberty all over again. YAY!

Like the pre-teen years, you get acne all over again, your libido will increase with the effects that accompany that (the inability to roll over in the AM due to the reinstallation of the kickstand was the most notable to me), and other more subtle changes. Fortunately, this time around you don't have the peer pressure like before, nor the worry about who you'll go to prom with. :)
