Is most of the raving in this thread about the "Gourmet" superconcentrates?

Just checking - I don't think I'd want to start with the "alcohol base" as I think that's the smell/taste that makes me put some commercial juice on the "long term steep" list.

I honestly don't believe this is a 'rave' thread - there are plently of 'don't care for' posts. I've got 2 that I love & many that I use as mixers. As far as an 'alcohol base' I put vodka in most of my DIY's as it enhances the flavor. Good luck to you on your search..:vapor:

The alcohol based SC's require very little to no steeping on most flavors. Occasionally people have said they are sensitive to the alcohol factor in these but the vast majority has not reported that. The ones I could not get beyond the alcohol aspect are the Nature's Flavors brand which are used by alot of vendors who sell organic juice. JMO. You use so little percentage wise with the SC's that probably factors into why they don't bother me. The Gourmet line is in PG and is super potent 1% or less needed.

2.5% to 3% flavoring that includes alcohol as an ingredient does not equal 2.% to 3% alcohol. Other flavoring makers also use alcohol in the PG free flavors but the amount of flavoring needed is usually much higher, so there's more alcohol. I have some flavoring from a place in Canada that is PG and alcohol free, but it's very watery and 15-20% is needed.

I haven't noticed any throat irritation or a taste of alcohol when using VZ super concentrates... of course YMMV.

Yea i am mixing a bunch of VZ - SC right now and i love them....... most of my friends are digging them as well.

I need a little help though.... I am looking for a Wintergreen flavor but the only thing on the super concentrates i am seeing is something called "Fresh Breath" - "Sam Mint" - "Mint Gum" - "Menthol"

I am gonna look at all the reviews now but i definitely want something minty - wintergreenish because a few of my friends are asking about this but in all honesty minty flavor is not my thing so even trying it myself would throw me off vs someone that likes it, hope i explained that right lol

Any feedback on these flavors would be awesome! I am planning on making the order by tonight if anything so i could get the wheels moving

I have to agree that sometimes it's confusing whether someone is talking about gourmet super concentrates or super concentrates. I'm getting ready to place an order as a first time DIYer and would like to know which is better for some of the duplicate flavors (banana?) What is everyone's "must have's"?

Tough question....my 'must haves' are in the SC line. I do like several in the 'gourmet' but I suppose I could survive without them (don't want to tho). If you're just getting into DIY - I'd suggest the SC flavorings, I just think they'd be a little easier to control..

I don't use any of the mints---hopefully someone else will come along that has tried the or you can write the vendor they know all the flavors really well. I don't use the banana ones either as banana's generally taste like taffy to me or candy and not a real banana.

Vanilla is one of the few super concentrates I haven't tried since I have 60ml from another vendor to go through first. The SC caramel is closer to burnt sugar than caramel candy and the fruits taste like candy if you use too much. As always, YMMV.

Speaking of YMMV, I can't follow recipes that use "drops" as measurements. I know many folks can, but it doesn't work for me. I use a 1ml syringe to measure my flavor concentrates. To each their own, no judgement made by me. :)

How is the coffee, carmel, vanilla, and fruits? I'm looking for fruit tastes rather than candy tastes.

I have the 'french vanilla' sitting in front of me. I'll give it a try tomorrow & report in. It's been sitting for quite a while so I'm sure it's very steeped (never worried about steeping with any VZ, but that's me).
