I never thanked you BJ for starting this thread & keeping it on track...Thank You :)

And a thank for all those who have contributed.

I had given up on ever finding a flavor I could enjoy as an ADV, tried way too many over the years. Never would have tried RY1, assuming it was just an RY4-type sweet tobacco, if it weren't for finding this thread. It's just what i have been looking for all these years.

I did end up spending a buttload of cash on even more flavors I don't like after RY1 :mad:

Haha, Thanks

You are welcome and seeing your join date we have been at this for a long time. I thank Jimi D for putting me on to Hangsen Ry1 first and then Inawera Dark Tobacco. They have been game changers for me and my goto bases.:toast:

What % & ratio have you long-timers been mixing RY1 in? I've been having success with 2.8-3% in 70/30.

Yes we have BJ, haha. I found many parallels to my own experience trying to find a flavor after reading your DIY journey.

Funny, I also like the Dark Tobacco. I prefer both the DT & RY1 straight though, haven't felt compelled to add much to them. As always, just my personal prefence ;)

I was enjoying it at 2-3% for a while myself. I had been using a 75/25 PG/VG base for years, but recently adjusted to a 50/50 with 10% Distilled Water base. Mostly just so I wasn't left with over a liter of VG when my gallon of PG was empty, haha.

After chatting with some of the folks over in the Hangsen thread I made up a batch at 7%, curious to see what happens to it. I like them both so far, 7% seems to add a bit of "ash" to it, for lack of a better word, far from overpowering & nothing like Inawera "ashiness" haha. Seems to be an overall mild flavor, which I like. Again, just my own personal experience :)

Oooh, this is post 666:evil:!!!

Wow great thread lots of good info will try more baccys next month hopefully:vapor:
Yes, great indeed! I ended up reading the whole thread. It deserves a revival!

I will never vape anything but tobacco flavours without fruitiness, and I usually want as little sweetness as possible, but not sour (like HS RED Tobacco, really not for me). So far everything I've mixed has been more or less sweet, even if I mix 100% PG (VG clogs up my throat so I can't use it). To me pure PG tastes very sweet, which is the opposite of what most people say.

Anyway... Since the tip of the tongue have the most receptors for sweet tastes, I vape with my tongue way under the drip tip and it helps, although it also increases the feeling of bitterness, which can become too much as well.

I also recently got a bottle of FA Bitter Wizard and it works. It doesn't remove the sweetness completely without going too bitter, but the sugary feeling goes a different, better kind of sweet. My HS Indian + DNB mix went more grassy sweet, and my HS 555 + L.S.D mix went more caramelly, so it tastes way better than when it has a pronounced sugar feeling. HS Desert Ship went a little perfumy though, but maybe it'll improve with more steeping.

I'm waiting impatiently for HS Turbosmog and HS Tobacco coming my way - the readymade Turbo didn't have a lot of flavour but it didn't taste sweet, so I have my hopes up.

BTW, what's TBA?

TBA = tobacco absolute

OK, so not "JUST TOBACCO, no perfume, no caramel, no vanilla, no to be announced" :laugh:

@PaulBHC:
Dekang's Winston tastes pretty much like beef, and from what I heard so does HS British/Rothmans.

L.S.D and Indian Tobacco + DNB are the most cig-like flavours I've tried so far.

---

BTW, to me RY6 is sickening sweet. It's supposed to be not sweet at all and the most cig-like ever. But then again I taste sweetness everywhere - I generally don't have much of a sweet tooth, food and drinkwise.

I have MType and Captain Black plus some Black Honey and RY4D. I also got some Red Oak and Virginia Flue Cured to add to something.
I like the MType. Kind of a tobacco cookie or brownie with hint of fake chocolate like a tootsie roll.

Best thing so far has been a home extract of American Spirit organic but something in NETs bothers the roof of my mouth.

You like sweetness I gather :) Haven't tried any of the flavours you mention, but from I've read they're all sweet. Maybe HS Red USA Mix would be to your taste. Or... Hmmm, I wonder if the HS ones are NETs too, but maybe I have misunderstood.

The very concentrated flavours I've tried (all Inawera) gives me almost no vapour (I mix 100% PG), but the less concentrated Hangsen flavours do, so I don't use the very concentrated ones as standalones anymore. I wonder if all super concentrated flavours are like that...? HS Highway has VG in it, so maybe all the Hangsens do and that's the reason for having more vapour.
(I guess not a lot of people mix 100% PG, so I don't expect anyone to explain this to me, hehe...)

I do also suspect Inawera's 0 mg PG is not like it's supposed to be. It's both insanely sweet and harsh when tasted on the tongue. As I keep lowering the nic with this stuff, I get less and less vapour, the flavours go weaker + more and more sugary sweet AND harsher at the same time, the roof of my mouth and my tongue sting more and more, the juices burn more and more... go figure :confused: I've got some Atmos Lab 0 mg coming my way, hoping it will be different.

Just to jump in... My adv is hangsen Arabic, 2.8-3% in 100vg in rbas & drippers on rayon. It's a spicy tobacco with definately Arabian notes. Somewhat reminiscent of Indian spices. Sounds wierd but it's a nice strong flavor and th. Just can't get off it. Many others are too sweet for all day every day. I like little to no sweetness.

The hangsen black devil- I don't know never heard anything about it . Apperantly the is a black devil cigar or cigarette brand.

Turbo smog - good luck I tried it once it's was pretty nasty I thought.

Here's the hangsen master list, this may help someone. -

I tried Turbosmog in the readymade version, and it didn't taste a lot me - I felt just a massive TH and a little of nonsweet toffee (if that even exists) and a little olive oil. Maybe the oilyness came from the 30% VG. It'll probably be different with only PG though. Maybe I didn't steep it enough for the nastiness people mention to come out. I'm really puzzled about the descriptions saying it tastes like car exhaust and burnt rubber. I want it for the nonsweetness + I like it dirty, so I'm not too worried :D In my cigalike starter kit I had a flavour called Sahara I really liked. It wasn't sweet, just spicy, dark and dirty! I hope I can make something like that...

I've tried Arabic Tobacco too - I thought it was pretty good (but as always with me, a little too sweet). I got a bit of cocoa and spice + kind of like very dark beer...
Ahh, maybe Arabic and DNB would make the flavour I'm after :drool:

The Arabic is better mixed low in diy... 2.5%-3.33% depending on vendor. Lower is actually tastes better without sweetness more spice and a better th. Many hangsens get too sweet for me anything over 4%. Arabic mixed strong or not steeped has a spiced rum taste to me. The sweetness causing the rum taste. Below 3% that rum sweetness is gone.

I tried turbo premixed way back in the beginning. I got burnt tire and licorice. But I was also fairly new to vaping. The stuff was black. But everyone's taste buds are different!

The Sahara sounds really good, I might have had that one. I wonder if it was the brand blue uses.. Don't remember the brand right now.

Just finished reading all 68 pages.
Hehe, guess it took some time! After reading so much about RY1, I'm still not convinced it doesn't taste vanilla or caramel, as loads of reviews elsewhere say it does

@JeremyR:
With a device that makes 10 times the vapour I get (I use 100% PG, EVOD + e-smart clearos), I guess you get way more flavour in one puff than I get...? Which means 3% would be way too low for my use. When I used V2 batteries & clearos I got a lot less flavour than with the stuff I use now.

I've had Arabic as a readymade, and I tried cutting it down with 1/3 straight PG, and the flavour went verrry sweet and weak, more so than other juices I did this with. I wonder how many %s the Hangsen dudes themselves use in their liquids.

Black? The feeling of black, you mean? Indian + DNB + Bitter Wizard feels dark grey to me :) I doubt Turbo can get much nastier than this mix as the readymade version gave me almost no flavour. I mixed it with flavours I was running low on to make them last longer and they still tasted exactly the same :laugh:

My Sahara came in cartridges from a Danish scam company. It was expensive as hell - I even had a smoke now and then to save money, haha! The price per 10 ml liquid would be 65 $, the incredibly overpriced shipping included.
