My girlfriend and I both vape and we love it. I've always noticed that she doesn't blow out as much vapor as I do. I had my sister try out my PV and she had the same issue. She took a nice big mouth inhale and didnt blow out near as much smoke. A second later I did the exact same thing and got tons of vapor. My girlfriend and I have spent at least an hour comparing our technique and trying to figure out whey she doesn't have as much vapor come out. We have no ideas. Everything is absolutely identical. We will use the same PV and do the exact same technique. Anybody know why she has so much less vapor production on exhale?

Also, when I do a quick inhale exhale, I get more vapor rather when I do a slow inhale and exhale. Inhaling for a longer time to get more vapor actually feels like it does the opposite.. I mean I'm sure I get the NIC and flavoring, but since I'm taking so long to get more vapor... by the time I've exhaled it, it has already dissipated in my mouth/lungs.

Ha ha, my boyfriend has the same issue. He gets decent vapor, but he watches me vape and I'm just kicking his .....

He hands me his PV, and suddenly I'm getting clouds out of it. He's very knowledgeable about vaping, and he's been vaping longer than me, so it's not a matter of him just not knowing.

I'm with Hoosier, she may be drawing in air through her nose. When I vape I do a mouth inhale, and the back of my tongue is kind of touching the back of the roof of my mouth, so any air inhaled through my nose can't get into my mouth.

So I just tried to take a drag while breathing in through my nose and I do notice a slight decrease in vapor but still nothing compared to how little she has. I mean she is literally doing a mouth inhale for the same exact time with the same suction with the same PV and she gets at best 30% of the vapor I get. I also noticed this with my sister. I love to figure things out and this is driving me nuts!

Everyone who tries my PV has the same exact problem. If I mention it to my boyfriend, he does slightly better, but if he's not concentrating on taking a huge hit, which is far longer than mine, he only does marginally better. I don't quite understand it, because I've never had an issue with making clouds with just a regular draw. I'd like an explanation too =]

Here's my theory:

When I'm vaping a lot at once over a couple hours or so, I start to notice I don't get as good of throat hit. It's almost like my lungs and throat are "coated" with something that reduces the TH as well as the feeling of nicotine. I have trending this pretty specifically and have eliminated all variables due to equipment and technique. Now my girlfriend usually vapes 0 mg nic and rarely 6 mg. I also remember when I first started vaping I was only vaping 12mg and I got buzzed and could feel the nicotine much more than I ever do now at 18 mg. The only time I've noticed people getting oddly low vapor production is when they specifically dont vape higher nic levels. Maybe nicotine inhaled by a PV or with PG/VG creates and coating of some sort in the throat and lungs and this coating prevents the vapor and nicotine from fully absorbing and results in higher vapor production and higher nicotine tolerance. This would explain why people who do not have this "coating" are getting less vapor. Their lungs are actually absorbing more of the vapor.

Interesting. We do know that a little bit of PG sticks around in your lungs, and is naturally metabolized. So that... actually isn't a bad theory.

But even within that I see variance. Why does my boyfriend, also a heavy vaper who vapes the same nic strength as me, get less vapor than I do? I have non-vaper friends who have tried it and, accounting for them not knowing the technique, get decent vapor. My father on the other hand gets very little vapor, vaping higher nic than me.

I don't know. Mystery...

Guys have bigger lungs. Compare the volume inhaled and exhaled with a balloon or something. Drink something to clear your mouth and re-moisturize your taste buds and mucosa.

Well try that balloon test. However, I'm pretty sure she is inhaling the same amount of air as I am. We shall see :)

GuitardedMark, you ask the best questions! I have been wondering about this lately, too.

I tend to go with Icoth's theory (below). I think I am usually in varying states of dehydration...partly due to meds that I take, but also because I drink WAY too much diet coke.

I might have to do a little experiment and go without my caffeine for a day or so, and see if it makes a difference. I'm more interested in getting big plumes of vapor :vapor:than in throat hit, so I am starting to vape with more VG. If my caffeine theory proves true, it might motivate me to quit drinking that junk!

On the other hand, if less vapor is tied to chocolate intake, then I guess I will be happy with the vapor I've been getting. :p

Maybe it has something to do with the amount of water the vapor can pick up. I tend to have dry eyes and as a result had a hard time with contacts. I wouldn't be surprised if levels of hydration in the respiratory system are different from person to person as well.
