Hey guys,

So I'm going for a regulated mod and I've got it down to 2 choices, the rDNA 40w and the ipv Mini 2.

Can you guys who own one or the other or both list some pros and cons for me? Also, if you have an alternative you think is better than either please feel free to suggest it.

Thanks in advance guys,

This just came out in FT:
$47.87 60W VW Variable Wattage APV Box Mod - w/ temperature control function / 1*18650 / aluminum alloy / black at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
It's a 60W VS rDNA with TC.

I am actually having the same debate in my head, between the IPV Mini 2 and the Vapor Shark rDNA 40. I have never used a box mod, so all the pros and cons are basically imaginary or based on theory for me right now. But as far as I see it, the VS looks a lot cooler and has the temperature control option - but it's much more expensive, capable of less wattage (no idea how high I or you would realistically need, though), and has awkward screen positioning if you want to adjust it will you're vaping. The IPV on the other hand has a high wattage cap and is much cheaper - but it is taller (not what I'd prefer, at least), has a reflective screen that turns off too quickly, and does not offer the option of temperature control, should you want to venture down that avenue at some point.

Personally, I think I may go with the VS because I simply like it more, but only if upcoming Shark Week brings about a decent discount. $130+ is a pretty big stretch for me (though the VS does come with a battery, whereas the IPV does not). I'm hesitant about the lower wattage potential, but seeing as how I'm currently vaping around 7 watts (at 2.2 - 2.5 ohms) with my disappointing Halo Triton but even that is keeping me off cigarettes... I'm betting a 40 watt max will be plenty satisfying for me, even at lower resistances. I hope.

Good luck, and let us know what you decide on and how you feel about your choice after trying it out!

Love my mini 2, but the main question for you needs to be, "is this what I'm going to be using for a couple years, or for 6 mos." Ipv mini 2 isn't perfect though I love it and I'll move on from it soon, but I'm still in the experimental stage. What stage are you in? Is it worth it to wait a bit to get something you'll like longer?

I have the HANA MODZ DNA 40 V4D and the iPV 2S which is the exact same mod as the iPV mini2. Only larger and waterproof. Now I do like my iPV but will take my DNA 40 over it any day of the week. I love that temperature controlled vape and find no issues working with nickel. While you will want to use 28 to 30g wire, it's a lot easier to work with then 28g Kanthal.

One big thing to keep in mind with the iPV is, if you plan on using it at 60 to 70 watts, the battery life is pretty bad. Expect to carry one to two extra batteries if you are out all day.

And there are many DNA 40 options out there. Vapor Shark is only one. Hcigar has one with an authentic DNA chip and it's only like $120. You can buy HANA's with slight imperfections for not much more. They are starting at $129 and you can get my dual battery version for $179. I can generally go a couple days between charges before I need to put it on the charger. Something to think about.

the battery life at 60-70 watts on a single 18650 is bad on every device
