Finally got my atomizers today (1.8ohm 306 and 510, 2 each) and obviously was pretty excited to test out my REO for the first time

I don't know if my taste buds are messed up but it seems like almost every flavor i have has the same sort of airless taste... it's making me feel like maybe this vaping thing really isn't for me...

I'm not using cheap e-liquid too.. Most of my stuff is BWB and Halo (steeped a week and a half). The only ones that really stood out in taste were the Cappucino from BWB and Menthol from Halo.. which are obviously very strong flavors

even then.. it's almost like the cappucino and menthol is just masking that kinda nasty taste...

The Backo tastes like that airy taste the most.. and even Malty Toffee which is so loved on these forums taste exactly the same as the Backo, it was tolerable at first but after having enough it's just disgusting now.

Same with the rest, Applewood, Vanilla Bean, Nutty, Casablanca (all from BWB) they all just seem to mask that nasty taste..

I did remove the wicks of the 3.2's (the one's I been mostly using) because I'm pretty sure I flooded and burnt all my atomizers in my newb testing (lol)

Is this how vapor is supposed to taste? the REO works fine.. but it just seems like the taste of vaping really isn't there for me.

did I burnt my atomizers or something? I can imagine only doing it a few times.. I know i flooded all of them for sure (lol)

Maybe the 1.8 is too hot? the vapor isn't hot at all.. feels cold kinda.. but i'm new to this whole thing so maybe what i'm feeling IS considered warm

I duno.. just looking for any suggestions... =T

yuck, that same subtle but nasty airy vapor taste.. i duno how to explain it..

sigh i feel like maybe i messed up the atomizer or something.. but i doubt i messed up 4 of them in the span of a few hours so i duno...

I vape BWB juices too (Applewood, Honey Flue Nut, Cherry Tobacco, RY4 and Ejokers). What I noticed was, after a few hours using Cisco 510 LR 1.8 and 2.0ohm atties, I couldn't taste them anymore. The 306 just a couple of hours longer. And I thought it was my taste buds going loco on me.

I found that using cartos now (LR dual coils and Boge LR) brought out more flavor and vapor for me. So I'm sticking to that set-up. :)

Maybe you can try those out as well.

Is the nasty taste from the atties or you can't taste the flavor of your liquids?

If it's from the atties, you might need to prime them prior to vaping.

Also, if you just stopped smoking analogs, your taste buds will need a bit of time to adjust.

Hang in there, it just takes a bit of trying out different combos to find what works for you.

you started for the first time vaping with a reo and bwb juice? good stuff!!!

smoking affects your taste buds in a bad way, i get lots of flavor from the juice i vape for sure. give it a week or so and see if your buds come back.
 I was just going to say the same thing. Nocturn...your taste buds will continue to change the less you smoke. My taste buds didn't seem to completely settle down until I had not smoked for a few months. So juices you don't like now you may end up liking later on and vice versa. Just take your time and don't give up :)

i did prime them in the beginning...maybe i didn't long enough? i was a little impatient and didn't give it the full 10 minutes

7 drops..waited at the least 6 minutes.. 3 more drops then tried.

i duno i still feel like it's the atomizers giving the bad taste but sigh ya maybe i can try the cartos... this was supposed to be my last try/chance to this whole vaping thing too

yaa i actually did pull out the wick on my 3.2's already unfortunately

so mmm i'm like "repriming it" if that's even possible... and the 7 or 8 drops or so are settling at the bottom now..

so my question is, is the atomizer always supposed to be this full? 7 drops, plus another 3 so always keep it at 10 drops full?

when i change flavors am i supposed to reprime it with those 10 drops again? that could be maybe why it tastes the way it does... im pretty sure in that aspect im keeping my atties near empty... lol sorry for the ?'s.. really want this to work out for me

You can pull the wick out....I've never done it personally...but I think almost everyone else here has. I hear that removes the part that can get burned and holds that flavor.

Definitely, DEFINITELY try de-wicking before you give up... the wick is only there for people that use juice-filled cartridges. If you're dripping or bottom-feeding, you dont need it. It makes a HUGE difference for me and it's really, really easy... search ECF or youtube and you'll find a lot of results on de-wicking.

306s perform better (my personal opinion) in terms of flavor... 1.5 ohm ciscos with a 3.7 yields about 9 watts which is golden!

Dont give up, BWB has some of the best flavors out there... I've tried a lot... so something is definitely not right. You have a solid mod (I assume you have solid batteries too) and amazing juice... so the problem is that atty or your taste buds!

Did you blow out the primer??? The stuff can really kill flavor too... if I can swing it (i.e., dont need a new atty right then and there), I'll blow the primer out, then rinse, then let it dry over night... or even prime it with some juice, then blow it out, then rinse, then let it dry... that stuff is funky!!

Another though, some attys take time to break in... maybe they're not running quite as hot since they're not broken in?

EDIT: In a fresh, clean atty (brand new or rinsed/dried) it takes about 8 drops from empty-full (306s)

If I blow the atty out to change flavors, it'll take 5 drops

If I'm just topping up a dry atty, it takes 2-3...

510s take a bit more... cant give you exact numbers, sorry!

hm i read cisco's don't come primer'd.. but maybe it does need to get broken in or something maybe i'll keep vaping this all day without inhaling with hopes it'll taste better tmrw

You're right... Ciscos dont come primered... at least the 306s dont...

I've never ruined an atty from burning juice... and I've done this quite a bit.

What kind of batteries are you using? Hows your vapor production??

Also, if you're using a 3.2 ohm atty with a 3.7v device, you're only vaping @ 4 watts which is low...

Try this... IF you're using a 3.7v battery... grab a 1.8 ohm...make sure it's de-wicked... blow it out... prime it (if it's a 510, try 5-6 drops or until you can sort of feel some resistance [i.e., juice bubbling just slightly])... take a 3-4 second pull...

thx for the help

i got the batteries recommended in the stickies:
AWIMR14500 AW IMR 14500

Im thinking maybe I burnt the coil without the juice or something? is that possible? would that give this the nasty taste?

i'm hoping it's a "break-in" thing.. but that only seems to have to do with the heat

EDIT: gonna mess with the 510's and the malty toffee for a bit.. see if this changes anything

Malty toffee is 70% VG which means it's extra thick... try a different flavor to start with! Backo comes to mind... you'll really taste that once you get over whatever this hump is.

As long as your atty didnt pop the coil or an internal wire, it's good. I've never ruined an atty by burning or scorching it, and I've tortured atties... and I vape really hot (10 watts)

did you see this above?

That high-drain battery with a 1.8ohm should vape really nicely... big clouds, nice flavor... are you getting big clouds of vapor or no?

Ya I tried the Backo and that one tastes the worst unfortunately. Has the most tasteless nasty flavor out of em all unfortunately.. it doesn't taste like a flavor really .. though it has a flavor.. just not a very good one.. and the same flavor all the other ones are giving me, but just masked slightly with other flavors. that's why i feel like it's something off... if that even made any sense o_O

hm okay so I guess I didn't ruin any atomizers then if you've done all that lol, so that's definitely good to know

gonna take a little break here, got a nicotine headache lol from messing with this for hours. I'll try again one more time tonight.. gonna head out for a bit.

There's a vaping store like 50 miles away... I'm thinking if I can't get this thing going, I'm going to jus drive there and let them test out my equipment, see if it's me or i just have the most f'd up tastebuds in the world....

Really was hoping this vaping thing would work out for me.. I linked my mom this forum.. told her I'm quitting, linked her to all these success stories here.. and not even trying to be a "giver-upper" but if everything tastes the way it does right now there's jus no way I can convert

thx for the help everyone

if i didn't prime it correctly.. am i going to always be stuck with this nasty taste? think i remember reading something that if u burn it, that taste never goes away

is that what i did? to all 4 of my atomizers?? haha fuq
I was told that the burnt flavor is in the wick, once removed...that burnt flavor should go away. If you vaped it and you got that hot dry burny flavor in your mouth, nose, and palette....it is possible that that flavor is in you. I did that once (well more than once) so I switched mods and vaped another flavor and drank something strong to dull my aural sensors. Then went back to that mod later and it was fine. Sorry about all the trial and error. We've all done it. :(
