First want to thank V4L for giving me the opportunity to test these before the release, and letting me annoy them while in IL with my idiotic presence. To me these are still king diamond batts, always will be. To make it easier on everyone else though will refer to these as VTKD's (Velvet Touch King Diamond) batts though.

Going to first talk about the manuals. The difference between these and the new kd manuals is simple- the new coating. Anyone who has ever used a gen 2 kr808 is familiar with the rubberized coating. The ones on the VTKD's though is a better texture (velvet touch was given to them by Mark sir for a reason), and more durable. In the few weeks of torture testing haven't worn any off yet. Same couldn't be said for a gen 2 batt, or even the king diamonds. Don't think I own a single battery without at least one chip in the paint. Internals are still the same. Cut off is 10.8 second avg. on the ones I've tried, button still just as responsive, airflow just as good, etc. What would be a mordy review without numbers though. Here's my testing done not only with wow cartos at 2.3ohms, but also with cool carts at 3.3ohms. Oh yeah, even have 1.5ohm dual coil tank info on these as well. For wow and cool carts have the optimal voltage range in bold. :)

Now on to the part most have been waiting for I believe. The autos have changed. Another item gen 2 users have come to know is what has been referred to as a "sealed" auto. No auto is truly sealed, if they were they wouldn't work. They are leak resistant. The center hole in the post has been removed, instead the holes now reside on the outside of the post. Smilin sir dared me to try and kill one of these with juice, was I successful, yes. Was it easy, no. Took a badly over filled carto to do it, and left it leaking while I vaped. A small overfill will not be as big of an issue. Something that must be noted though is it's very important to make sure the post is clear of all juice before charging. Have talked before about how juice and chargers don't mix, this applies heavily to these batts. If juice gets caught in the air slot on the top of the post, then drips down in the charger you can easily make a bridge between the positive and negative terminals of the battery and charger killing both. Just wipe the post off before charging folks, a very easy task.

On gen 2 batts, "sealed" autos have exceptionally tight draws. They hit like a gen 2 manual, which might be the tightest draw period when it comes to ecigs. This is not the case with these. On the mordy scale where a king diamond (unsealed) shorty is 11, the xl ranks at an 8-8.5 (same as it's unsealed counterpart), regular an 8.5-9 (same again), and 10 on the shorty. The shorty in other words is the only one that suffered in airflow terms, but not by much, and it wasn't unexpected. Major credit should be given to everyone who had a hand in this at V4L. The biggest fear when trying these would be the draw would suffer, happy to say that is not the case.

One more note before the voltage testing, these batteries are back the same size as the current king diamond autos. As the numbers will show soon they perform very much like the king diamond autos run time wise, only one change has come into play. All the ones I've tested on load come off at 4.194v just like the manuals. Have yet to take one apart and see if the cells are a different size than the manuals, but logic and numbers say they are, but looks like the ic logic from the manuals has been used on these batts.

There are no numbers for the 1.5ohm tanks. The simple reason for this is they will not fire them. They will fire the 2.0ohm cartos for the tanks all the way down to 1.8ohms (lowest they come in), just not the 1.4-1.6ohm dual coils. The old autos would, but they also had a different ic than these it seems from the test results. To some this will be the only negative in the long list of positives for the VTKD's. The fact you no longer have to worry as much about an overfill on a carto though, or a leak from the tank when using the higher ohm'ed single coil carto in it, far outweighs this lone negative.

Great stuff!

Strange that the manuals and new autos possibly share the same Ic yet the manuals will fire a LR DC carto and not the auto?

Does the new auto switch seem more responsive to you ?

This sounds awesome though! HATE the halo/volt draw glad to hear we haven't been relegated to that milkshake sucking fest!

The auto switch on the shorties has a slight lag in comparison to the unsealed ones Cyrus Vap sir. That's the only one I notice a difference on. Have a theory when it comes to autos not firing the 1.5ohms, ties directly to the few king diamond manuals that haven't been able to fire, still testing it though so not saying anything yet. :)

Good stuff as always Moranidir, thank you!

A few shared thoughts....

Oddly enough I am seeing a trend of people referring to the sealed autos as Gen II. I think this may become quite confusing a little ways down the road.

After reviewing the numbers it appears in performance, there are no notable changes. The Auto are now sealed on top utilizing a wider post with a much narrower post channel and the intake holes have been relocated to sides of the posts. Outside of that it all comes down to the finish...a finish which is certainly awesome.

I do wonder if over time the relocated smaller post intake holes combined with the narrower post channel may be more susceptible to clogging. And if they are directly lined up with the outer connector intake holes so they can be cleared out with a needle.

Snow sir one hole is and am keeping an eye on it for such issue. The hard part is going to be cleaning that hole or the other intake of any debris. The air intake holes on the sides of the post are a bit larger than the 3 air intake holes on the threading which is a good thing. It's going to fun explaining to people that just because it's sealed and has a soft finish it's no longer specific to a gen 2 batt. These are by no means regulated to 3.6v range. :)
